    Currently Dragon Shield Sleeves is the best for standard size! Fantasy Flight is usually what I use for the other sizes! But might need to try this brand because they look like they have more sizes!

    I like Sleeve Kings for a value sleeve option. I am impressed with their quality and durability, and they shuffle well. They are my go to unless I specifically want a thick sleeve for extra protection.

    What's your opinion on Mayday Sleeves?

    • @benjaminsessler2677
      @benjaminsessler2677 4 года назад +1

      Be a little careful when buying Mayday sleeves, they have 2 VERY different lines. The regular ones are akin to a 'penny' sleeve and are very thin, and in my opinion just hot garbage. The premium line are thicker, and are perfectly serviceable. One nice thing is that they make colored sleeves in board game sizes, whereas most manufacturers only make clear, or only make colored sleeves in standard card size like for MTG.

      @Me3stR 4 года назад

      @@benjaminsessler2677 I get you on the penny sleeve. They are exactly that. BUT, even the cheap, light, slippery sleeve has save more than one card from a deadly spilled drink in my home. I know, "you get what you pay for." I have had to replace more than one from simply wear after only a few plays. But they are also on the front display in nearly every local game store I have ever walked into.

    Paladin were the only manufacturer I'd previously seen doing double-matte sleeves where both sides of the sleeve were the same matte material. I went in big on their last kickstart and bought 100 packs but when they arrived it turned out they changed their material without telling anyone and the sides no longer matched. They were more like the Dragon Shield Non Glare range with a rough textured matte on one side and smooth matte on the other. They basically screwed over all the people who had half their collection already sleeved in their previous iteration of double-matte sleeves. After that I'm very wary of new entries to the market. These could be the only company making double-matte sleeves now but who knows if they'll keep the range going in years to come.

Then last Black Friday, Sleeve Kings had a sale...and Im hooked. Ill be using their brand for a long time to come, by far my favorite.

    99% of my sleeves are those Fantasy Flight ones because they'd frequently be on sale at my local store and for the things I was sleeving, consistency was more important than quality. And I'd use some fancyass Dragon Shields on my really important ones that weren't part of that thing. I'd be nice to have something better quality than the FF but cheaper than DragonShield so I'll check these out.

    This is a good look at the gamegenic board game line of clear sleeves and its great to have one brand cover so many different sizes. The main drawback currently is these are a challenge to get in the US at the moment. I was able to get several sizes shipped in from Canada and the UK and I overall really like them. As you can tell from the video they have much improved fit over the FFG sleeves they are ultimately replacing. They do have a full line of the the standard card sleeves in different colors coming whenever this become widely available. Also glad to see them keep the old FFG color codes and expanding on it with new size offerings. My new go to sleeve for board games.

    • @CeePhour
      @CeePhour 4 года назад

      These are very easy to get in the US. Asmodee's own store has them in stock (and free shipping until the end of the month).They've been available for many weeks. With distributors shut down due to coronavirus you won't find them at your FLGS or OLGS, but they're available straight from Asmodee's website. Hopefully anyone thinking of ordering out of country can save on shipping knowing where they can get them domestically.

    At the end of your game reviews it would be cool if you listed the amount and size to sleeve the game in review. Just in text at the end. That way we could just come to your videos when we want to sleeve them. Or if we like a game in review we can write down the sleeves and size easy before we head to our local game store.

    The discontinuation of FFG sleeves sucks BIG TIME. All my games are sleeved with FFG sleeves. I liked the extra room at the top (most sleeves cut this too close and the top of the card gets messed up over time). They shuffled just fine.
    The biggest issue here is Asmodee being idiots replacing a long established product (all FFG games list which sleeves to buy and in what quantities) with new ones that arent' the same size. So it's a big FU from Asmodee to anyone who will need to continue sleeving a game that already has FFG sleeves. I'm sure this wasn't by accident too. Get us to resleeve everything so the sleeves are all the same size.
    Also found out these new sleeves are a dollar more expensive than the already pricey FFG sleeves. Hell no.
    Honestly, Asmodee needs to crash and burn.

  • @MTGEDH
    @MTGEDH 4 года назад

    For "standard" card size which are made for the MTG cards dragon shield matte are the way to go. They are a little more expensive but will last forever. The only problem is they don't make a variety of sizes for the different board games.
    As for different size sleeves I have been impressed with the ultra pro lite. Even though they are thin they are doing well (none have split on me) but a slight perk to being thin is takes up less space in the box. Also they are cheap (less than $2.00 a pack and they come 100 per pack).

      @@ZeeGarc Ultra-Pro mattes are decent, but they always put that stupid hologram sticker on them which kinda ruins the artwork on cards. However, the Ultra-Pro Eclipse sleeves are (in my opinion) the absolute best 'standard' card sleeve. They are super durable and have an incredible shuffle feel. The only drawback is that you cant get them with clear backs, so they aren't always the best for board games.

    If the sleeve is bigger than it says on the packaging, like Zee said with the FF ones, that is clearly a breach of marketing and should not be sold. I would return them in a flash as they are advertising what you do not get.

    Oh, you do not like the FFG sleeves do you? No, the truth of it is your corporate overlords who you are shilling for told you to push the Gamegenic sleeves while bashing the FFG sleeves. I am so disappointed in this review, and with Zee especially, for doing this. Also, from all the people who liked and supported FFG sleeves, we are just so thrilled with you for helping to leave us in the lurch now that FFG sleeves have been, basically, canceled and replaced by the Gamegenic ones. Moving over to UltraPro as I would never support Gamegenic going forward. 0/10
    .
    EDIT: In case any one cares enough about what I said to wonder why I am so upset, Gamegenic sleeves are a different size than FFG sleeves so now many people with whole shelves full of FFG sleeves will have a some hard choices to make. it matters in games like Dominion or LCGs where people, like I, have thousands of cards sleeved but now no way to sleeve the next newest expansion with similar sized sleeves. This is, by far, my single worst experience in gaming. Long ago Tom spoke about what bad things could come with Asmodee buying too much of the mainstream gaming industry. Well my friends, here we are.

      From my own experience, there is. I play a decent amount of deck builders and have switched exclusively to mattes as having a big stack of clears in the middle of the table slip and slide easily, not to mention the shuffling of it is a bit off. The only times I make an exception is if I have to have them clear on both sides because the card has art/info on the back or if the stack isn't particularly big.

      @@izunakaze4301 Do you think there will be any difference in shuffling Inner Glossy vs Standard Glossy sleeves? I do ask because of the thin Gamegentic Inner cards (50-60 microns) vs Standard Premium Glossy sleeves (90-100 microns). I do have Gamegentic Matte Standard ones (100 microns), they do shuffle great, but my One Deck Dungeon game's cards look too smoky and dull because of matte sleeve surface.
