Why does this channel have such a loyal viewership? Well, Brian is a pretty good flyer, but the real reason is because he has one of the best camera gals in north America! Where else on youtube can you see videos taken with such precision? Zoomed in when needed, pulled back to include scenery for greater perspective for the viewers. They not only make a great team in life but also in play. ok Brian, I just read your mind, don't say it ha ha !! Happy Flying
You put is very nicely! Thanks for noticing, I sure do :) We have a great group of people encouraging us along the way, and we really appreciate you're kind words. You may not realize, but the camera crew reads most of the comments too ;)
If there’s ever a doubt in your mind whether I’m gonna love something you do or hate something you do just trust that by now I will love everything you do!!!! You are just simply the best plane reviewer out there hands down! Also best personality and your chemistry with the camera crew is just Magic!!
This is nice to hear. There are days I'll go through comments and we (or I) get more negative comments than usual, and from people who seem to be either jealous, stupid, ignorant, safety prudes, know it all's, or just plain dick heads...so even though you probably thing I just breeze through these comments, I don't! I read them, and do listen...obviously I have to run the channel the way that works for our family, you obviously get this...from watching, and can tell that we care about you guys, and when we let you down, we're genuinely disappointed. We want to bring good quality content, that's not "faked" good or bad - we want to be honest, but within the confines of RUclips (I can't throw things and swear, like I REALLY want too when things are going badly - LOL, but seriously)... When people can't see that we are very transparent in our reviews, I wonder WHAT they've been watching?!?!? I know that with growth, we will get more haters, and we'll get more GREAT audience like you Samuel, but some days it's pretty demoralizing. I have to remember, there's about 10,000 of you great folks for every 1 jerk....and sometimes the Jerk, is just having a bad day, and they'll come back with an apology later. Either way, I just wanted to make sure you know that we appreciate your kind words, but especially hearing that you're enjoying the video, and waking up people around you - LOL ;)
Just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your videos for two reasons. One you have one of the best camera persons and your content is very informative! Thank you!
Thanks Dale! We're all lucky Megan helps me with this, and we try hard to share what we think might be helpful. It's tough since we don't always know who will be watching...so we try to keep things moving fast enough to keep regulars into it, while not blasting through too fast and scaring off beginners.
@@BrianPhillipsRC appreciate you responding to my comments. I am 68 just kind of getting back into the hobby. My son and I built a Piper cub 6' 4" wing span when he was young but I was to fast for both of us and there was no youtube to help us so we switched to gliders. How I have 5 grandchildren and I want introduce the hobby to them. I bought the timber turbo and put it on floats as I live in the city and there are no flying fields close by. But we do have the Fraser river to fly off of. I must be honest I am a bit nervous, but I will keep watching your channel for those helpful tips Thanks again!
Love these second thoughts videos; they're actually more useful than just maiden reviews as it takes more flights and experience with these planes to know if they are actually any good for long term use. Like with motorcycle reviews, I'm always looking for these 'one year later' type videos to get the real scoop.
I totally agree! Keep in mind, I'm only flying these planes for the second or third times...so still, very little "practice". Maidens are more a "proof of concept"....showing that they CAN fly. But me as a pilot has the real challenge of trying to make them look half way decent without knowing how well they fly, or their bad habits...so I have to necessarily play it somewhat safe. I love doing these videos, but it's a bit disconcerting too, at times, since the consequences of a crash can be fairly steep ;)
Thank you for your reply I will definitely take your advice while I’m considering my next plane me and My Wife both recently found your channel and I’m glad we did you and your camera crew do a great job at breaking down the pros and cons of each review you do with excellent video footage And the length’s that you go to explain in a way that most people can understand great job keep it up
You made mention during this that you thought it could handle a bigger pack, well I’m here to tell you that I put my 7000 smart pack and it worked great. As I’m sure you are aware but others may not, the 7000 is a 30C which caused zero issues. I also added a Xoar PJN 16x8 propeller. Peak amperage draw is around 63 amps but I swapped out the Predator 50 amp esc for an avian 60. People who own this plane… I would highly recommend swapping the propeller out to 16x8, the plane performs so much better. Brian, I know you do second thoughts videos and small change reviews, like wheels and such but have you ever thought about performance upgrades videos on things like this? Just a thought and I’m sure you’re schedule is full already, but if you wanted ideas for more content, there you go. I’d watch but then again I watch all your videos anyway. Lol Love this plane, love the channel, keep it up Brian
Thanks Matt for the idea ;) 7000 should work great in there, and then a LOOOONG flight time too!!! AS for the upgraded prop, I would consider doing it on this absolute beauty!
New to your channel, great flying and video work. Getting back into the RC world with a lay off for 10 years as now retired. I use to fly in Spain but now I find I'm struggling a little bit on the Real Flight Simulator. We are in a bit of a total lock down with C 19 and can't get into a club. So watching your vids and commentary helps very well with my Sim time and flying. Enjoy the festive hols and a Happy New Year to you both.
Welcome aboard! Glad you're here with us, Gary, but sorry to hear it's under these circumstances. I hope you get your thumbs back soon ;) I've heard it's like riding a bike, but I think it's more like playing the piano...
Nice to see you fly the pitts! I got the V1 a couple years ago and that's how I remember it on pavement just loved to ground loop. Great flying as always, happy holidays guys!
I picked one up, I underestimated it's BULK and massiveness! Only way to transport it in the bed of the Tacoma with the bed cover on was upside down on a blanket (with the wing on) otherwise it was so close to the bed cover it would have dented it for sure on any bumps in the road. I may get some foam and see if I can do that vs transporting it upside down. Don't like taking wings on and off so much if I can help it. The other problem is STORING it in the house, it's so bulky it just doesn't "Fit" anywhere. Hate to store it in the garage, so it may get the guest bedroom for now (until I build some kind of rack for it). I have an AR637T receiver new in the box so I'll be following your setup this week on that. Thanks Brian for the great video's and answering my previous questions on this one.
I have mine hung on a special hangar I made out of TWO "U" Bolts held together with HEAT SHRINK along one of the two bolt ends, making a three pronged wing holder. I slip this over the TOP wing and then have wire wrapped around the TWO U Bolts where it balances and then I can hook it to a single screw in the ceiling of our shop. It is still big....but it's a worth while plane.
Just got mine. Blown away with the finish. Doesn't look like a foam plane. Yes i already had that small issue with the canopy latch. Going to flying with the HRB 5k pack. I think the extra weight of the 5k packs will help with the scale aerobatics. I have seen other videos suggesting a battery stop mounted to the canopy if that plastic battery tray latch fails. Great videos. And i ENVY you for being able to fly right outside your front door. And on another note, mine came with the FMS reflex gyro.. Can't wait to maiden this puppy.
Yes, the newer ones are coming with Reflex now ;) This is a GREAT addition, and means now you can get away with a much less expensive Rx, if you wish ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Maidened mine today. Felt no need for the reflex. Very stable and predictable. 5K pack. 7 min but still experimenting with time. Love it . handles rough grass with no prob
You are awesome with this film as always and going ta add this ta the others I have cause of you and the better half.love this site .Thanks Ben Porter..
Just picked one up. FMS has a Labor Day sale going on and couldn't pass it up at the price. Now the circle is complete...UMX Pitts, 850mm Pitts and now the 1400mm Pitts.
Thanks! I'd suggest NOT doing the Flapperons, as they turned out to be unnecessary and overly complex BUT sometimes that's just a bit of extra fun for the process ;)
Glad you enjoyed it I bet the big screen is cool! I always watch on my relatively small PC monitor. P.S. Do you watch a lot of 4K content? What type of download speeds do you need to have to support such content?
I also enjoyed the maiden flight unbox and set up video, very glad you shown the as3x set up in forward programming. I now know why it's not working right on my radian. I reversed the channel without resetting the as3x. Duh . I hope you see this hobby is moving to open tx radios and recievers. Check out Air Marshall and a few others if you have a few minutes . I have probably around 45% of my 5 flying clubs I belong to all ready using the Radio Master TX16S Max radio. As the AMA educational officer of two clubs I try to keep up to the new stuff.
Currently own and fly the UMX TURBO TIMBER!!!! The apprentice 15e original (before the introduction of safe technology) the super OG apprentice!!!!! The original ICON A5 also before safe technology was introduced! Super OG ICON A5 and the Parkzone visionaire with safe! Full acro 3D flyer! Also super old all in perfect condition and in constant rotation! This year has been really hard to find parts ! But I don’t crash a lot so there still all doing really well for me
Hey Brian, video idea. Carbon cub S2 with floats. Also, you inspired me to buy the carbon cub S2. LOVING it so far. Way bigger than I thought. Also, me and my dad needed to watch your video to put it together. Thanks!
Mine on the boat, can't wait, it will be a very welcome distraction from the violence in my country at the moment :( I am 3D printing aileron spades which will attach to the horns and intersections for carbon rods to make up the angle indicator for the port interplane strut and scale cockpit detailing with the cross tubes and compass and flight routine pad, I might change the pilot, he is a wee bit undersize, think about it, if he was standing next to the Pitts at his current size he would look like a child in a big bone dome. I'll make a visor for him and add some subtle weathering (not from war but from competition flying) and then I'll have something every bit as good and competition-ready as my 1/4 Pitts which won 2nd place nationally in static. Oh and it's all your fault Brian!
Brian...The FMS PITTS is a cool looking plane. That’s one type model I have not yet flown because I don’t fly 3D - at least intentionally-haha. Looked like a great day to fly. Oh- I think I can speak for most folks- we glad you kept the “pants” on.😁👍👍😎
Oof, how am I going to resist buying this plane? lol. I agree about those smart batteries. I love them. Fabulous content y’all! Thanks and happy holidays!!
Hi Brian I maiden my pitts the other day. Love it flys on rails had 3 flights now. Want to do your corn hole what's your sticks input to do it. Also I have to break it down evertime to get in car and white clips just break. So change plastic clips to metal with 2mm thread works great have no more problems breaking it down.
Nice! I'm not sure why all of a sudden I keep getting this question...but here's what I can recall... I'll have to check...Full up and to the Right on the Left Stick, and full up and then to the right and back to each corner on the Right Stick...or something like this.
I need one, the Pitts Special Is just that, special. I got spoiled in an S2-C as a 150hr pilot in college, ruined me for all other airplanes well I loved the Eagle as well. I need a small one, thanks for the knowledge and Entertainment.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I was on the IAC collegiate aerobatic team @ southern Illinois 2000/01. I flew a super decathlon in contests. One of my friends had a S-2C down there. For the Eagle, since I’m AP/IA, I got to fly it if I fixed it. Then it got sold. The 200hp was easier on the wallet... but that experience gave me the ability to fly T6,PT-17,L-19,T-28B. So it wasn’t money wasted... While I’m writing, I have a quick question. I haven’t flown my E-Flite pacer yet. I was wondering what voltage to set the alarm at w/ 2200mah/11.1V. Can I go lower than 9v? I’m doing this airplane on a budget as I lost my nice futaba and e-Flite motor in a move, So Fly SKY FS-i6X is being employed. As for the motor, I was all worried about getting a motor so close to the weight of the power 10 E-Flite. I spent hours researching and a friend of mine, who is an RC guy and fly’s airshows in a Pitts S-1, had to remind me that they put anywhere from an 85hp-260 hp in a single seat Pitts. I felt silly but I was like,oh yeah , so I found a F.H D-3536 . We will see, what’s the worst that can happen.... Lastly, I don’t know how you have the time to reply to everyone but you show a lot of dedication. Keep up the good work.
Alright, so get this!! I figured out that the 1.5m Mustang has the same motor as this Pitts, so technically it will handle the Avian 100Amp ESC and it comes with a 50Amp ESC. The prop is as thick/strong as the Mustang also, no worries there with the prop exploding at high RPM. I'm going for Unlimited Vertical and Battery Telemetry. Can't wait to try the new setup once our crazy 30mph winds subside. I Probably won't need over 50% or 25% throttle to keep it in the air or for takeoff!! This Plane should be a Whole New Level of Fun!!??
I remember you mentioning the graveyard near the end of the road I was able to see it today. You know that this means your neighbors are dying to move in right? As always very entertaining. Thanks!
You got that right!!! I was out working on the bridge up front one day, about this time last year, and it was foggy, and still...totally still except the stream of cars driving by really slow...one after the other, after the other, it was freaky!!!
Hi Brian just watched your review on the FMS F4U, good idea to compare battery packs, couldn't help noticing on the back of your Truck that you are in the packing industry , I had been in it for over 25 years decided to pull out as it isn't as good as it use to be here in Oz, keep up the great reviews thanks .
Our company does work in Packaging, Material Handling, and Scales...and we recently added on a Robotics Division. I have a degree in Robotics/Automation, but work in the Scale division as an Industrial Scale Technician, and have for 15 years. Did you retire?
Hi brian, i have been thinking about adding a biplane to my collection and i am about 100% sure this is the one. I have 15 eflite planes 5 fms planes and 5 durafly, and 4 freewings. I love fms all of them fly great. Well i love all my planes. 😁 another great video by the way. I like how you call your wife "camera crew" 😆 trying to get my wife on the same page.
I always go fly after watching your videos even if it’s late at night I’ll take my umx night vapor outside or my umx turbo timber with lights or my night visionaire(also has lights) Assuming it’s not crazy windy in which case then I just get on my simulator
i went from a hookll extra 300 off banggood to this plane and i couldnt be happier with it its tame when ya want and wild when ya demand it to be. landing on pavement and that bounce is the only negative for me
Get into a climb, several mistakes high, and then both sticks all the way up and to the left. Then when things start getting interesting, you can pull out ;)
Hi Brian, didn't retire I just left the industry because I was burnt out , I use to supply Stretch Wrap machines and general packing to Logistic companies and manufactures . I was out of work for 18 months but found a new career in Our Door Power Products, so Im now selling Zero Turns, Ride On's Lawn mowers , Quade bikes and Side by sides Utv's. You Probably use a zero turn on your property, Id take a guess and say it would be a 60inch Zero turn. I'm lucky in one way as I get to do country trips 3 weeks of the month , there is one motel I stay at where your open the sliding door out the back and there is a big field with acres right in front of you to fly The Eachine E160 Heli you reviewed , I m going to buy one and take it out there next trip. Are you still enjoying your job ? Keep up with the great reviews
Totally get the burn out. I sometimes feel that way, so working has become a bit of a rat race. I'm good at the work, and my employer has been very good to me over the years, but nothing can change 15 years of doing it ;) As for equipment, check out my playlists....I cover some of my equipment on my RUclips channel too! We're going to get a blizzard again tomorrow, if all goes to plan, so I'll get to use one of my newest toys for the second time ;)
Up to you...but I'd use this (See Below) instead if you have REFLEX, but still want Telemetry...cheaper but then you don't give up anything you want. If you want/need Flapperons, then just don't turn on the Reflex...and YES, you can hook up any channel, set the setting, then unplug that channel and the Reflex should HOLD you setting even after power down. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AR410 bit.ly/3z5hT75 - Simple 4 Channel Air Rx with limited telemetry - No AS3X & SAFE AR620 bit.ly/3z7WDO0 - Simple 6 Channel Air Rx with limited telemetry - No AS3X & SAFE AR6610T bit.ly/3z37ysk - More telemetry - No AS3X & SAFE
I have slowly but surely Been watching all your content !Every single bit of it is top notch and the laughs that I’ve had have been so loud I woke people up trying to sleep around me lol while I secretly watch your reviews late at night while others sleep! Not a great idea......I’ve been told by them !! By them I mean my wife ! By people around me I mean my wife lol 😂😂😂😂
LOL - Hopefully you're wife doesn't make you pick between her and watching me - that would be a really BAD story to tell the divorce attorney - btw ;) LOL!!! (Also - don't tell your wife this.....)
I’m curious where you came out on your AS3X gains? I know they are highly subjective to how much stability you like as a pilot but I am looking for a starting point. I know it comes with the reflex gyro but I have a spare AR637T laying around and I’d prefer to have as few electronics as possible. Btw gorgeous plane excellent camera work and piloting.
I'm sorry, but whatever we shared is what I would know. What I can say too, is that the gains are somewhat subjective, and what I like might be too much for others...I suggest just play with it, I know it's a pain, but it'll be your setup then ;)
I will buy those smart batteries very soon and get a smart charger . I just wonder if my Jumper T8SG plus will be able to read the telemetry datas ... Any idea ?
I know the Radiomaster TX16s can read all the Spektrum/DSMX telemetry. I don't have a Jumper to test, but it should have the same multi-module hardware, as long as the software supports it.
Should be fine. I like them to have enough juice to get me flying for a few minutes, but I'd like to revisit this plane, and possibly throw in my 7000mAh 6S. I mean, it's got the lift, but might need to really grease her in with more weight. Those gear will not be forgiving with a larger pack, I expect.
GREAT vids on the Pitts Brian!! Toying with the idea of getting one, but thinking I may have to put one tail dragger wheel under each outer edge of the lower wing?? ;) I've been known to come in a little hot with my T-28..
When you do, just DON'T setup flapperons. This was an unnecessary and sorta complicated step. I think the plane would be BETTER without it ;) Otherwise - DO IT ;) Pitts bit.ly/3pLkVZn OR even better, seriously better too... Pitts 1.4m bit.ly/36e9ZLo + AR631 bit.ly/3pYNC3c
Should work. Expo and Rates will be under-whelming. If you plan to have 3-4 planes, just do it...get the NX8 now and re-mortgage the house. You'll thank me later. You WANT the features.
Great video but it would be cool if you had a camera that could zoom in and show the planes better. Thank you for sharing! One day Im gonna fly like that lol
I agree, but without an optical zoom (vs digital) we would be very hard pressed to keep it in frame. It's a chore doing it, if you've ever had the opportunity to try, and I'm very blessed to have a very capable and willing wife (my "camera crew"). I've tried, and I SUCK BAD at filming!
Different animals. This is quite a lot bigger (like twice the size) and PNF... I like both, but I would pick to fly the Pitts over the 1.3m Extra 300...UNLESS I was doing straight up 3D flight. Both are good planes, but I think I would lean toward the more SCALE type plane, in the Pitts. Pitts 1.4m bit.ly/36e9ZLo AR631 bit.ly/3pYNC3c OR Extra 300 bit.ly/3rVnMiw
YES! I didn't EVER storage level my packs before, and now they hold up so much better, since I STILL DON'T (SMART packs do it for me - LOL) This has gotta be one of the best features! I totally thought it was a HUGE gimmick, but now, I'm 100% convinced.
Brian please tell me why you chose the AR637T over the AR631. I understand the AR630 doesn't have the antennas but I'm wondering what the main difference is between the other 2? Internal barometer but is that it? Is one better than the other? They are pretty much the same price.
I had one... AR631 would have been 100% fine, BUT you do get the Nominal Battery Voltage with the AR637T. Main difference is Diversity antenna and Barometer...for Vario ;)
i have the plane manual says cg 155 to 165 it appeared you checked cg from the front of wing where as 165 is near back of top wing another yountuber say cg actually is 95 mm because the v1 pitts was 95. where did you set cg on the v2
I'm sorry, but I felt that this plane flew AMAZING as we set it up, so all I can say is whatever we did seemed to work really well...I'd copy our work on this one ;)
THIS bipe, swap out the propeller for an apc or xoar propeller 16x8 (apc hard, unbendy plastic. Xoar wood!) & The difference is not only noticable, its astounding! 👍
Thanks! I find that FMS in particular can be pretty conservative on their prop selection...not that they're wrong, but I have found that they leave a little room for improvement here and there.
Can you let me know the height on the low and high wing from the ground when the plane is sitting on the wheels, wondering if this will fit in the bed of my truck with the cover on for transporting without removing the wing. Really appreciate it.
Sorry....RUclips was being weird...I could read your reply but I couldn't reply!??!! I measured 6" from the bottom of the wheels to bottom of the LOWER WING...and 18" from the bottom of the wheel to the TOP of the TOP wing.
Its Fortunate that when you just reviewed P63 that you made the comment regarding the COG which would be a big help as some of these manufactures when doing the videos don't mention the COG isn't correct and just make a big fluff piece with the video, eg miss information This makes it hard for maybe a young person who has spent their hard earned on a plane especially when they are new to the hobby and has followed all the setup procedures and then ends up damaging their plane righting it off I appreciate when you do these reviews and point out the short comings of manufactures , in other words keep these buggers honest, it will more than likely save a lot of disappointment and money to a person who is new to the hobby , at the end of the day some of these manufacture don't give a rats and just wont to relieve customers of their hard earned money I should know I'm a salesman but I enjoy repeat business what it all boils down to is the manufactures need to show a lot more integrity and there isn't much of that around these days ,just me old fashion LOL
Exactly. I've found that Horizon Hobby is one of the more responsive companies when they mess up. FMS is the same way. We've been really impressed with FMS as we've been reviewing a few of their planes lately. One thing I can say is that our videos are showing our frustrations, even thought I'd like to NOT have frustrations...building these planes CAN and will occasionally be frustrating, even though the MFG'ers would just assume we cover for them...we won't. Anyone who's been in the hobby for a while knows this is to a certain extent, a given...but I want people to KNOW before they go and buy a $500-1000 plane!!! We also catch a lot of flack from people for making the videos "too long". Trouble, we find, is that if we cut out our "Frustration", we will be almost lying to everyone watching!!! Then WHAT do we bring? Not to disparage some of my "piers" on RUclips, because many go a GREAT or better job that us, but they don't share the build and setup in a cohesive way that actually lets the consumer see how horrible their future experience will be. This helps YOU as a buyer to weed out the really bad ones, and also keeps pressure on the MFG'ers to make these planes good! Glad you see this, and appreciate it.
Is it bad that when he flys the plain low and close to the house that I started leaning my head and phone towards the house to avoid getting hit? 🤦🏻♂️

@@payitfwdrcl6171 thanks....i was thinking in a Husky 1800 but it think it maybe too big. We already fly 3ch small 360grams planes and just joined a club . In the club they just big glows . thanks again!!!
@@alexherrera3918 Do you fly? If not - i highly recommend that you seek out a club member that is willing to assist your son. Your son is at an excellent age to learn and i’m confident that he would learn quickly with an experienced pilot. The husky 1800 is a really nice plane but you will have to purchase a receiver along with a compatible transmitter- if you not already have those items. Keep in mind. Bigger is better-but also more $$. I would recommend getting a ready to fly airplane that comes with a receiver and radio that fits your price point. 👍😊
This is a plug and fly, so I just used whatever was installed in it. The specs should be on the link I shared in the video description, for your convenience ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks a bunch for the reply and enjoy your informative reviews along with making it fun. You do the best reviews in my opinion. Could you help me out with the specified mod I want to do with my FMS Pitts please? I know a-lot comes into play when upgrading to such a mod. I’d like to keep the 15 x 9 prop but am curious what amp ESC would be recommended. I currently run a 22.2v 5000Mah 30c battery and am curious if this would need upped to maybe a 50c etc.etc. . I’d appreciate your honest input here. Thanks again!
Hi Brian , Unfortunately I have had a high failure rate with Spectrum product both I and my sons radios have failed even up till last month were I had P47 , the receiver failed in that . I still have my DX 8 but I only use it on my helis , the Taranis is the best bang for buck and the technology has been out there long before Spectrums had started adding in extra features eg telemetry. There is only one down side to the Taranis is that it operates a more complexed system , so it takes a little to getting use to , besides were do you find a radio that never runs out of models lol! Just telling it like I see it as a users point of view.
I too am telling how I see it... Fortunately, I haven't had lots of failures. I've definitely had a few servos fail, here and there, and have had a few planes crash as a result of strange issues, but of the companies marketing this stuff, HorizonHobby stands out as one of the few companies that will take care of us. I agree this shouldn't be the case, but they are one of the best when things go wrong, in my experience.
@@BrianPhillipsRC nice! U should show them , give us the history of them. U just got my new pilot Rc laser 74 inch 35cc very excited for summer now lol
Question: Why does it call for a 6 channel radio system when there are only 4 of the 17 gram servos? So I would assume it to be a 4 channel plane? Another fun video, thanks.
Hi Brian , just wanted to ask have you done a review the FR SKY Taranis radio yet, I've been using one for a while now had no failures at all , they are a more affordable product.
Brian do you buy these SMARTS PACKS or does H AND H supply all these Planes , Chargers, ext. Be Honest. Don"t think I am getting at you I am not just jealous . Keep up the good work you and Megan do its GREAT. Thank YOU.

No way!!! Did you have a rough and tumble landing??? I hate that you had this issue. Are you gonna try a METAL GEAR servo? I thought they used a 15 gram servo for the rudder?
@@BrianPhillipsRC No. I greased both landings. Before the 3rd flight, during my usual preflight check, the rudder got stuck to the left and the neutral position was gone. I'm changing to 17g MG digital servos all over the plane. This is a heavy bird with huge moving surfaces, not suitable for cheap plastic gear servos.
Brian have the same plane and love it . really enjoy your videos . the only thing that makes me cringe is when you are mucking around with radio functions with a powered plane and you have the prop on . My self and many guys I know have some nasty stories they could tell . Throttle cut on or not take the dam prop off .
I have NO idea why it's 3 stars on HH.com - that's RIDICULOUS!!! This NX6 is AMAZING! I have experienced 3 very small glitches, all of which are fixable with firmware updates, and I can tell you, I own a DX18 and still use the NX6. That's not to disparage my Gen1 DX18, as I love it, but this Tx is BETTER in many ways, and it's the bottom of the NX line card! I think there's something to be said for people who buy a Tx and they haven't spend $500-1000 on a 4 channel air transmitter like they used to cost back in the day...they don't get how AMAZING this thing is!
Somebody please help me! So I purchased this bird and I noticed that it came with a separate controller box in it. That I have not seen in any of the videos that I've seen so far about this airplane. It's called a reflex V2. What does anybody know about this box? All of the flight control Servos are plugged into it. What is this thing? Is it a flight controller? A Gyro set up Or just a pass through for the flight controls cables? Is it trustworthy? Or should I remove it and replace it with Y-cables for the ailerons and plug everything directly into AS3X equipped six channel Spectrum receiver? Some people at the Flying field told me that there's been problems with this bird. But all the videos I have seen show that it flows really well. Are those problems due to this reflects V2 box that it comes with?
I spend so much time on my simulator that when I do go fly the real aircraft I am got plenty a stick time so when I go outside and fly the real thing I don’t do a lot of crashing if any any at all
Why does this channel have such a loyal viewership? Well, Brian is a pretty good flyer, but the real reason is because he
has one of the best camera gals in north America! Where else on youtube can you see videos taken with such precision?
Zoomed in when needed, pulled back to include scenery for greater perspective for the viewers. They not only make a
great team in life but also in play. ok Brian, I just read your mind, don't say it ha ha !! Happy Flying
You put is very nicely! Thanks for noticing, I sure do :)
We have a great group of people encouraging us along the way, and we really appreciate you're kind words.
You may not realize, but the camera crew reads most of the comments too ;)
I just watch to see him fly into the tree.
I must be honest I am a bit nervous, but I will keep watching your channel for those helpful tips
Thanks again!
Thanks for the 2nd review. I really enjoy your videos. I used your links to order the AR637T receiver and 5000mah G2 battery from Horizon Hobby.
Awesome, thank you! Every time you get something like this, it really helps us to keep going ;)
Thank you for your reply I will definitely take your advice while I’m considering my next plane me and My Wife both recently found your channel and I’m glad we did you and your camera crew do a great job at breaking down the pros and cons of each review you do with excellent video footage And the length’s that you go to explain in a way that most people can understand great job keep it up
Awesome David! So glad you BOTH found us! That's great that you both share the hobby. Hope you'll be back for more now :)
Lol
Love this plane, love the channel, keep it up Brian
Thanks Matt for the idea ;) 7000 should work great in there, and then a LOOOONG flight time too!!!
AS for the upgraded prop, I would consider doing it on this absolute beauty!
The total package. Flies, looks and sounds incredible. Great video. Thank you.
Best camera work I have ever seen on RUclips......thanks
I'll pass along the compliments to my wonderful wife, and camera crew, Megan. Thanks!
New to your channel, great flying and video work. Getting back into the RC world with a lay off for 10 years as now retired. I use to fly in Spain
but now I find I'm struggling a little bit on the Real Flight Simulator.
She is great, but on pavement, she kinda just does what she wants - LOL! ;)
Great flight guys you both make that place awesome !!! Thanks keep up the great work..
We will & thank you Robert!!!
It is beautiful and a beast in the air. One of my favorites to see fly.
I was super impressed with this plane. It was NOT my first pick, but it has turned out to be AMAZING!!!
You are one lucky man to find yourself a good wife to film all of your vids and enjoy loving airplanes keep up the amazing videos man🤘🏻
I sure am! Thanks, will do!
Great video Brian with a camera crew that has a beautiful soothing voice.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I own the UMX and 850mm Pitts from E-flite and LOVE both of them. Some day I’ll have to purchase this one too. Thanks for making another great video
You're welcome, thanks Bryan!
I have a silhouette cameo 3. I added checkerboard on most of the bottom of my pitts. I've been told by passer by's they thought it was a real plane! 😁
AWESOME!
Thanks Ben!
Yes sir
Just picked one up. FMS has a Labor Day sale going on and couldn't pass it up at the price. Now the circle is complete...UMX Pitts, 850mm Pitts and now the 1400mm Pitts.
Great flying.
Thanks!!!
Great camera work and great flying! I really like this airplane. I started looking at the 850mm eflite but I like the size of this
Thanks! I'd suggest NOT doing the Flapperons, as they turned out to be unnecessary and overly complex BUT sometimes that's just a bit of extra fun for the process ;)
Great video, enjoyed the sun passes the most . Looked awesome on my big screen.
Glad you enjoyed it I bet the big screen is cool! I always watch on my relatively small PC monitor.
P.S. Do you watch a lot of 4K content? What type of download speeds do you need to have to support such content?
@@BrianPhillipsRC I watch your videos thru my Amazon Fire Stick and my Sony 60" Smart TV it Supports up to 8 K UHDD .
My DSL connection is at 4.9 mbps download and the upload is at 0.8 mbps
I also enjoyed the maiden flight unbox and set up video, very glad you shown the as3x set up in forward programming. I now know why it's not working right on my radian. I reversed the channel without resetting the as3x. Duh . I hope you see this hobby is moving to open tx radios and recievers. Check out Air Marshall and a few others if you have a few minutes . I have probably around 45% of my 5 flying clubs I belong to all ready using the Radio Master TX16S Max radio. As the AMA educational officer of two clubs I try to keep up to the new stuff.
I have a Pitts....it is such an awesome plane.....it is so awesome and the price is so good....that I must get another one.
It is BIG and AWESOME! I had no idea, but WOW I was so impressed!
That is such a great plane, looks so effortless in the sky. 👍🏻
It is a GREAT flying plane!!!
Beautiful, thank you guys.
Our pleasure! thanks again G Bro!
Nice flying Brian 👍
Thanks 👍
Currently own and fly the UMX TURBO TIMBER!!!!
The apprentice 15e original (before the introduction of safe technology) the super OG apprentice!!!!! The original ICON A5 also before safe technology was introduced! Super OG ICON A5 and the Parkzone visionaire with safe! Full acro 3D flyer! Also super old all in perfect condition and in constant rotation! This year has been really hard to find parts ! But I don’t crash a lot so there still all doing really well for me
Awesome Samuel!
Hey Brian, video idea. Carbon cub S2 with floats. Also, you inspired me to buy the carbon cub S2. LOVING it so far. Way bigger than I thought. Also, me and my dad needed to watch your video to put it together. Thanks!
So glad we could put you up to it!!! Good for you, congrats! Happy flying!
That plane is a beaut Brian! Awesome vids man
It really is!
SWEEEET! Sorry to hear about the violence in your country at the moment!
Brian...The FMS PITTS is a cool looking plane. That’s one type model I have not yet flown because I don’t fly 3D - at least intentionally-haha. Looked like a great day to fly. Oh- I think I can speak for most folks- we glad you kept the “pants” on.😁👍👍😎
Totally a cool plane! Wasn't my "type" but now it IS ;) You're welcome for keeping them on - LOL!
Oof, how am I going to resist buying this plane? lol. I agree about those smart batteries. I love them. Fabulous content y’all! Thanks and happy holidays!!
Yeah, she is a beauty!
Merry Christmas! The bi-planes are just beautiful. Got a Stearman ARF on the way but I might just get the Pitts just to get into the groove first. 😀
Whatever trips your trigger, just get her in the air ;) Good luck Daniel!
I'm getting the hanger 9 model its awsome
COOOOL! I bet it's pretty awesome!
good flying!
thanks!
Another really good video I have the UMX Pitts I wished I had that one but got too many biplanes already love all your videos keep the good work up
Glad you like them! Thanks Alan!
Brian...you´re a good one! Greetings from Germany.
Thanks ;)
I need one, the Pitts Special Is just that, special. I got spoiled in an S2-C as a 150hr pilot in college, ruined me for all other airplanes well I loved the Eagle as well. I need a small one, thanks for the knowledge and Entertainment.
That's amazing! How'd you get that deal?!?!
It's definitely called a cornhole maneuver....😂 Love your input on RC planes Brian.
Awesome!!! Hearing my made up terminology makes me feel so special :)
DUDE - REVERSE THROTTLE!!!!!!!! Cool, it will be ;) Good luck Scott!
Very good demo brother 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Thanks!
That's awesome love it
Thanks! Me too ;)
Hi Brian just watched your review on the FMS F4U, good idea to compare battery packs, couldn't help noticing on the back of your Truck that you are in the packing industry , I had been in it for over 25 years decided to pull out as it isn't as good as it use to be here in Oz, keep up the great reviews thanks .
Good luck with that brent - LOL - this plane will be a GREAT addition for your fleet!!!

Surprising how huge a 1400mm plane can be, right??!?!

She doesn't want a turn at the sticks.

I've said it many times, flying isn't for everyone. Only the truly skillful 😁!
I love biplanes and the Pitts is #1.
I really like this one!
I always go fly after watching your videos even if it’s late at night I’ll take my umx night vapor outside or my umx turbo timber with lights or my night visionaire(also has lights) Assuming it’s not crazy windy in which case then I just get on my simulator
I'm so glad we're inspiring you to go fly!!!
i went from a hookll extra 300 off banggood to this plane and i couldnt be happier with it its tame when ya want and wild when ya demand it to be. landing on pavement and that bounce is the only negative for me
I agree. Hard to get her to settle down for a nice landing.
How does Brian do the cornhole maneuver?
I'm lucky in one way as I get to do country trips 3 weeks of the month , there is one motel I stay at where your open the sliding door out the back and there is a big field with acres right in front of you to fly
The Eachine E160 Heli you reviewed , I m going to buy one and take it out there next trip.

I'd love to film in Puerto Rico ;)
What do you do with "Reflex" set up on FMS 1400 Pitts when you put Spektrum 637T Safe Receiver ? How do you hook up ? Do you use at all ?
Up to you...but I'd use this (See Below) instead if you have REFLEX, but still want Telemetry...cheaper but then you don't give up anything you want. If you want/need Flapperons, then just don't turn on the Reflex...and YES, you can hook up any channel, set the setting, then unplug that channel and the Reflex should HOLD you setting even after power down.

Any idea ?
I don't think it will get any of it, but I honestly don't know.
I know the Radiomaster TX16s can read all the Spektrum/DSMX telemetry. I don't have a Jumper to test, but it should have the same multi-module hardware, as long as the software supports it.

great job,tell Estaban I said hi,lol
I will Richard ;)
Thanks for posting this awesome video Brian. I just pulled the trigger on this plane. How'd you think it would go with a 6s 6000mah.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks Brian, I'll try my 6000's and see how they go. If no good I'll purchase the 5000's.
I think the plane would be BETTER without it ;) Otherwise - DO IT ;)

Should work. Expo and Rates will be under-whelming. If you plan to have 3-4 planes, just do it...get the NX8 now and re-mortgage the house. You'll thank me later.
You WANT the features.
How does the Pitts compare to the PT-17?
Much better, but it's a different beast. Also, a lot more money too...so that's a factor.
How does this plane compare to the 1.3 extra 300 in your opinion
Different animals. This is quite a lot bigger (like twice the size) and PNF...
I like both, but I would pick to fly the Pitts over the 1.3m Extra 300...UNLESS I was doing straight up 3D flight. Both are good planes, but I think I would lean toward the more SCALE type plane, in the Pitts.

YES! I didn't EVER storage level my packs before, and now they hold up so much better, since I STILL DON'T (SMART packs do it for me - LOL)

i have the plane manual says cg 155 to 165 it appeared you checked cg from the front of wing where as 165 is near back of top wing another yountuber say cg actually is 95 mm because the v1 pitts was 95. where did you set cg on the v2
Like using dual 6s lipos with a biggER motor! 😁
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks!!!
Its Fortunate that when you just reviewed P63 that you made the comment regarding the COG which would be a big help as some of these manufactures when doing the videos don't mention the COG isn't correct and just make a big fluff piece with the video, eg miss information
This makes it hard for maybe a young person who has spent their hard earned on a plane especially when they are new to the hobby and has followed all the setup procedures and then ends up damaging their plane righting it off
I appreciate when you do these reviews and point out the short comings of manufactures , in other words keep these buggers honest, it will more than likely save a lot of disappointment and money to a person who is new to the hobby , at the end of the day some of these manufacture don't give a rats and just wont to relieve customers of their hard earned money I should know I'm a salesman but I enjoy repeat business what it all boils down to is the manufactures need to show a lot more integrity and there isn't much of that around these days ,just me old fashion LOL
@@BrianPhillipsRC Keep the buggers honest LOL
You like this bype better than the carbon Z Prometheus?
I love this e flight ✈️ pitts plane it’s beautiful
This is an FMS Pitts. I don't have the EFlite Pitts yet...I'll do that one soon though ;)
Is it bad that when he flys the plain low and close to the house that I started leaning my head and phone towards the house to avoid getting hit? 🤦🏻♂️
LOL - Thanks!!!
Hey
Can you do like a airshow video with a few of your planes?
I thought this was what I was doing ;)
Nice plane!!
Please Any advice for :
1. slow plane for a wind over 10mph.
2. A trainer plane for me a my 9y old son.
thanks
Mini Apprentice would be a GREAT option. That's what my son and I fly together at the moment.
Here's my Beginner Planes, short list...

Alex-Brian’s list of beginner planes is spot on. I would highly recommend the Apprentice line of planes with the tricycle landing gear. 👍👍
@@BrianPhillipsRC , many thanks for so big list of recommend planes!!!!!
I enrolled my don in a club, they ssid that the bigger the better to learn also because big planes do better in high wind.
what is the max recommended wind speed to fly the the mini apprentice?
thanks again!!!!
Has anyone thought about installing the FMS 4258 650kv Brushless on this model yet and if so what amp ESC did you use or recommend?
Hey brian do u have any bulsa planes? Or do u mainly go with smaller foam due to runway size?
I have a few balsa wood planes. They're planes my grandpa built.
@@BrianPhillipsRC nice! U should show them , give us the history of them.
U just got my new pilot Rc laser 74 inch 35cc very excited for summer now lol
Try a rolling circle next flight.
Rolling Circle, next flight....humm...not sure I'm that good just quite yet ;) I'll give it a shot.
Question: Why does it call for a 6 channel radio system when there are only 4 of the 17 gram servos? So I would assume it to be a 4 channel plane? Another fun video, thanks.
I'm not sure that it calls for a 6 channel system? I DID used a 6 channel Rx, but you could do it with less.
@@BrianPhillipsRC The web page calls for a 6 channel radio system under what is required so I was curious as to why.
What do you think of using a wooden prop?
I think they're beautiful, but they break easy with a prop strike, and on this plane, it's easy to do ;)
Hi Brian , just wanted to ask have you done a review the FR SKY Taranis radio yet, I've been using one for a while now had no failures at all , they are a more affordable product.
No I haven't. I might consider it, at some point. Affordability is definitely something to consider.
Brian do you buy these SMARTS PACKS or does H AND H supply all these Planes , Chargers, ext. Be Honest. Don"t think I am getting at you I am not just jealous . Keep up the good work you and Megan do its GREAT. Thank YOU.
Both!
I can tell ya this much my friend...your lady is all with u on the hobby...my ladys like "yea yea yea...airplanes airplanes...blah blah blah...how much money for the next one?...lmao..i dont get bitched at to much on how i spend (my) money...lmfao..good thing its (my) money..at any rate..looks like a good flyin bird
I'm pretty luck to have my wife supporting me!
I love the plane but the plastic gear servos were really disappointing. Rudder servo died after just 2 flights
Sorry about that I've cut myself, but lucky it was with a UMX
Sounds so cool!
I bet it would sound even better if I just balanced the prop ;)
Hey Brian. I wanted to ask you, how is the NX6? I saw on Horizon that its 3 stars. Is it really that bad? Thanks!
Corn Hole Roll aka Snap Roll.
Its in your pocket it must be a BIG ONE BRIAN ????
LOL!
Somebody please help me! So I purchased this bird
and I noticed that it came with a separate controller
box in it. That I have not seen in any of the videos that
I've seen so far about this airplane. It's called a reflex
V2. What does anybody know about this box? All of
the flight control Servos are plugged into it. What is
this thing? Is it a flight controller? A Gyro set up Or
just a pass through for the flight controls cables? Is it
trustworthy? Or should I remove it and replace it with
Y-cables for the ailerons and plug everything directly
into AS3X equipped six channel Spectrum receiver?
Some people at the Flying field told me that there's
been problems with this bird. But all the videos I have
seen show that it flows really well. Are those problems
due to this reflects V2 box that it comes with?
You got a RTF? (Ready to fly?) Where'd you get this from???
I seriously want this but I'm not sure it's going to fit in the trunk of my car 😥
What about the 850mm Eflite? Pitts bit.ly/3pLkVZn
Who else wants to see the "Camera Crew" fly a plane?
Lots of you do, but she doesn't want to....so I guess we'll have to wait until she's ready ;(
I spend so much time on my simulator that when I do go fly the real aircraft I am got plenty a stick time so when I go outside and fly the real thing I don’t do a lot of crashing if any any at all
Good, practice makes proficiency!
I hate it when I rip my sac!😯
Ripped sacs are no fun!
