    honestly from what i've learned playing commander. the most passive player wins.
    if you're deck is just built around flash and 2 card combos you're most likely to win without any boardstate. cause nobody will see you as a threat until its too late

    I would LOVE to see a decklist for that Jodah deck that's mentioned. I want to diversify the strategies amongst my 120+ decks. While the majority are precons, I have actually used the decklists from this channel , but I usually alter them a bit so they become more of my own and not be a full out copy. For example, for the 99 Lands deck with Child of Alara, I added the Gates from Baldur's Gate. Also added High Market to fully utilize using Child as a bargaining chip to discourage being the Archenemy

    Ink-Treader was my favorite jank card when it came out! "Gain control of target creature" effects like Act of Treason were always hilarious, our team comrades! Now there's involuntary employment, gain control and make a treasure per creature? Yes please!

    Esika is sick there are lots of combos you can do with her. The two I built was Avacyn ane Rune Scarred Demon to fetch Worldslayer ans the other was Herald of Leshrac and Obeka Brute Chronologist to steal and keep all tour opponents lands. In that one i added Avacyn as a little additional creature protection.

    It’s like you knew I am agonizing on going to play commander at an LGS. I’ve only played with friends so far. Also shout out to Kansas City lol.

    I've built two decks that take long, enthusiastic turns, both during my turn and my opponents turns. One is my Jodah spellslinger deck. The other is my Azorius Dungeons deck. Very enthusiastic turns.

    I don't get to my lgs often, maybe once every 5 weeks.
    Took me 4 years to get my first win in a pod. Had to go super spike with Vito, focusing on Gary + reanimation shenanigans. My deck had tutors the other decks didn't, and I still almost lost.

    I honestly am much less worried about winning than having fun. My required win/lose ratio in order to be still enjoying myself is merely 50/50. This is especially because I'm constantly messing around with random experiment decks.
    Right now I'm experimenting with a zhulodok led eldrazi deck that has very little removal and doesn't care how much removal you have, it will outplay and overwhelm your removal (in theory, if I can get it there lol).

    • @wafflehaxxx
      @wafflehaxxx 8 месяцев назад +2

      50/50? That's pretty damn high considering there is 4 players at the table.

    • @Saphire_Throated_Carpenter_Ant
      @Saphire_Throated_Carpenter_Ant 8 месяцев назад

      @@wafflehaxxx Yeah I guess you're right. A lot of people aren't happy unless they are the last one left most of the time.
      Even if I'm the last one left about half of the time there are still many players who like to tell me how "my win rate would be higher if I didn't insist on self handicapping my decks"

    • @Saphire_Throated_Carpenter_Ant
      @Saphire_Throated_Carpenter_Ant 8 месяцев назад

      Also I should note that the other 50% of the time it is another guy in my play group, the other two have a win rate of 0% because they don't care enough to try but apparently they still have fun as well. They wont even buy singles, they just buy booster packs and make decks out of what they get.

    Politics is very important. I'd also like to suggest player put more removal in decks. I usually put in 4 board wipes, 1 targeted land destruction, and 5 - 6 spot removal cards.

    • @Miatatrocity
      @Miatatrocity 8 месяцев назад +4

      4 board wipes is 2 too many, but 5-6 spot removal is too few, imo. Targeted removal is far superior to wipes, and I'd absolutely agree that more needs to be run

    Imo most players dont win for two reasons; 1.) bad deck building/constant bricking game after game, & 2.) other players be playing too high power for casuals or playing a commander that’s inherently cedh/broken.
    I feel if casual edh was actually casual, then most players would win 25% of the time, since there are 4 players and winning every game would mean the deck is too powerful. Im not into making deals and false politicking, especially with threats, so instead i point out potential problems and do my best to have an underwhelming commander so im not an auto threat. I want my brain to win, not my cards; i run most decks sub $100 and avoid high end staples, proxies, and stax as well as 2-3 card combos.

      This is such a mood. I am terrible at playing magic, but I'm good at the commander politics, to the point people start doing the exact oposite of what I suggest... which is now my favourite wincon. Reverse Politic
