    Hello everybody. I'm 59 years old and I am uruguayan. Montevideo is the place a live and I
    have the pleasure to say that I travelled on those marvelous machines. The last photos were
    taken near my neighbourhood ( Punta de Rieles ). It's really a shame that this kind of transport was erased from our city.

      Hi gabriela, Thanks for watching and for your comment. I remember Montevideo being a lovely city. It is a shame the got rid of the trolleybuses.
      The only pictures I have are those in the presentation, so I don't have others from Cutcsa.

      Hi Pablo, Thanks for watching and for your kind words. I wish I had lots more images of Montevideo transport vehicles but, unfortunately I do not. When I took these, film was the only option. I'd travel, take pictures, and then anxiously await their return from being developed, hoping they would turn out OK. With today's technology, digital video is the way to go, supplemented by some digital still pictures. The number of images you can take is virtually limitless. Too bad that option wasn't available back then. Stay well. Cheers, tassiebaz.

    Thanks for these photos - I lived in Montevideo for 3 years in the 1980's - and of course I remember these. I recall there was an extremely long one (two buses joined) and you had to be careful crossing the road when one was passing, as you would have to stand there in the middle of the road waiting for it to slowly go by in front of you, and by the time it passed the road was busy again, and you were in the middle of the highway! I heard that around 1990 (?) one of the cables fell and a girl was killed on the footpath.

    I saw what appears to be remnants of streetcar track in some pics. So were the trolleybuses replacements for streetcars? Or, were they on routes that had no streetcar service at any time? The buses appear to be European in design. Interesting pics.

    • @tassiebaz
      @tassiebaz  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Reg, I did some Internet research and found the following: Electric trams began running in 1906.
      In 1947, the private company operating the trams was sold to the State with the mission replacement of all tram lines with trolleybus, bus, and microbus.
      The last 7 surviving urban tram lines stopped running in 1956. The last line (an interurban) stopped running in 1957.
      Trolleybuses served Montevideo, from 1951 until 1992. The fleet originally included 18 British-built BUT vehicles, but Italian-built Alfa Romeo or Fiat trolleybuses were later acquired in much larger numbers and comprised the entire fleet for the system's last several years.
      I couldn't match the streetcar lines with the trolleybus lines, but would guess there were some straight replacements and also some extensions and new routes. Regards, tassiebaz.

      Ahora veo que el tema es que el Trolebus no seguia el camino, se trabordaba en Punta de Rieles a un bus diesel, un Leyland seguro que hiba hasta un lugar apodado "5 esquinas", creo que el permiso no paso a Cooptrol y como en esos años varias lineas urbanas de Montevideo se extendieron para Canelones y San José las empresas que cubriaron losnsetvicios decian que les hacian trampa con los boletos fijos asi que esas lineas fueron recortadas a sus recorridos anteriores y de ahi en varios casos se crearon nuevas lineas sub-urbanas con las mismas ultimas dos cifras pero en la centena del 200 como la 221, la 227 y la 230
      Lamentablemente una 204 no se hizo pero en retrospectiva es lo mejor, si Cutcsa la hubiese conseguido ya llegaria hasta Pando y trataria de apretar a Copsa como apreto a Codet y Solfy que si n ose fusionaban con Coetc y Come quedaban como Onda

      @@tassiebaz You say that the watermark is to "deter" others from using the images as their own, well, then I must assume that you own the rights to those images? That you took them? That you own the original negatives? I don't think so, my friend. I'm sorry. However, thanks anyway.

      @@Curcc1891 Your first assumption is correct. I have taken all images on all my RUclips videos except for one video, the Delaware Avenue Elevated in Philadelphia. In that one, I used a few images available on the Internet and gave full credit to the owners of those images. What makes you think these pictures are not mine? I'm curious to know. Cheers, tassiebaz.

      As a photographer myself I will say that people have stolen a lot of my own photos. Projects that I have spent weeks to do being used as promotional and sales materials.
