I don't know if you know about Asperger's Syndrome or not. The reason I say that is because I have a mild form of the condition which also relates to social anxiety and other conditions within that sphere and it shares many common characteristics as well, especially relating to panic attacks and anxiety. In my case, although improved a lot in recent years, I have had a lot of issues relating to social anxiety and unfair judgement mainly because of it. Even though many of those cases improve over time i.e being confident speaking up infront of other people, being there for a family/friend gathering, etc, there is still a negative stigma which is attached to people with those conditions especially in the mental health areas. Other than that, a very inspiring and great story you have there, comes to show that with a little perseverance, you can overcome obstacles and do the things you want in life.
