Dave I wouldn’t worry about what other people think. Keep doing what you’ve been doing. I’ve been watching your videos since the beginning and I’ve enjoyed them all. Thank you. On a side note you should bring back some of your videos from The past. A lot of us would love to see them. Again thanks for all the videos.
Here’s you a really funny squirrel hunting story. My entire life my grandfather told me when he was young they “barked” squirrels cause they were poor and couldn’t afford ammo or small caliber rifles. Basically you don’t shoot the squirrel you shoot the branch the squirrel is on and bonk him on the head with the butt of the rifle when he hits the ground. Grandpa was a WW2 vet golden gloves boxer and a bit intimidating. I listened to that story for about 30 years until one day I got brave and said “grandpa I think that story is BS and you are full of crap” he looked at me serious for a sec and said: “damn boy I was beginning to think you were stupid. I’ve been telling you that lie for 30 years now” 😂 😂 😂
Barking a squirrel comes from the days of the muzzle loaders where you had a .45 or .50 cal and you didn't want to blow the animal into small pieces. You'd shoot just below it and the bark would hit the squirrel killing it.
You've come a long way since the oil cloth tarp and a wool blanket. Great to see the evolution (just like the rest of us) and looking forward to more Dave. Thanks for all the great videos over the years.
I remember watching you Dave many years ago after turning off most wilderness survival shows. Within 10 minutes I said " finally, a man that is realistic, tough and a wealth of knowledge. I grew up in the woods, had no training and fell flat on my face many times. The skills you teach are vital and your demeanor makes people want to learn. Keep it up man, the world needs more men, ( teachers ) like you!.
No one should ever apologize for success! I'm super happy for you! Especially since it was your channel that ignited my love of the outdoors and bushcraft! God bless!
My Brother your a Legend 🥰 and deserve everything you've worked extremely hard for🤩 anyone saying anything else is not worth your time. I'm not only watching your shows with my kids but hopefully one day my grandchildren for the vast amount of knowledge, so please keep all your videos uploaded. And remember everything was expensive when it's produced first but eventually will come down and be available to everyone. Keep up with the great work 🤩
Hey Dave I’m a Army vet and still in the Natty Guard. Their is some stuff I’ve learnt will begin in the military but you and Cpl Corner has taught me a ton!!! I appreciate and keep up the videos.
I'm glad you have the interest and gumption to do these videos Dave, because for me, it brings back fond memories of the times I did pretty much the same things....first time I went camping was with my Dad, we hiked 7 miles into Fish Lake, (He carried me, my little pack, and His the last mile). I did make it all the way out, going out it was mostly downhill.....I was hooked, and have been camping ever since, until my Wife of 58 years was invalided by several strokes.....She needs care, and I'm it. I can still get out for a couple three hours periodically, and Treasure every outing. it's not the same without Her there to see and enjoy with me tho.....when you can GO ! don't wait GO ! ...and keep going Dave...We'll stay with ya Brother, and THANKYOU !..........OnWard.........
I've been following you since the beginning and enjoyed watching the evolution. Like many of us what we carried 15 years ago might not be exactly what we carry today and there's nothing wrong with that. I believe it was Mohamed Ali who said "A man who thinks the same way at 60 as he did in his 20's has not learned much" or something like that Lol. Cheers from Canada !
Definitely no apologies necessary Dave. Glad to see someone prosper doing things they love, all the while teaching life skills everyone should know. Keep doing what your doing brother!!
For the last 20 years Dave I gave up worrying about what people think I live my life to please my family support my family and love those people that deserve it I put God first in my family and from the bottom of my heart I thank you for all that you have taught me over the last five years that I can pass on to my grandkids things that I would never have known without you what are you do for us I cannot put a price on that so buying your gladiator is your Achievement for all your hard work from my family to yours you deserved it a long time ago thank you Dave keep doing what you’re doing because what you teach from your backyard 23 miles away is my backyard thank you
Any loyal viewer of yours knows how much material you have put out over the years and how vast your knowledge is. A lot of them are probably proud of you getting that truck too sir. Nothing but respect, Dave. All the best.
I remember you Dave with your gear in a military foot locker years ago at Dirt Time (2009). Your hard work and dedication to the craft all these years brought you from that to a great success. I am honered to have met you.
Been watching since I was a kid back in 2012. I love the evolution of gear and the priority on weight. Packing cheap gear that’s super heavy is not as appealing to me now as it was before. Mobility and ease take priority. Would love to see a gear comparison over the years to really emphasize the advancements you’ve made to your kit. Keep up the new content, we love it!
Thanks for the tip about the fresh cuttings. I learned something new. And dont let the haters get to you. You dont get where you are without busting your ass. Jealousy is ugly.
Love your videos Dave, appreciate your skills, tools, and teachings in the field. I salute you and Shawn Kelly for your service and continued expertise. Cheers
Been watching you from the beginning and you have taught me a lot. Never feel bad about owning nice/expensive things. Those things are the reward for all the hard work and countless hours grinding it out. I constantly hear “it must be nice”to own that truck, camper, etc in a sarcastic tone. I always tell those people nothing is stopping them from working extra shifts or having two jobs, or living within their means in order to save money. Be proud of what you have accomplished!
I like what you are doing now. You are giving me ideas on how to set up my vehicle. And you sitting by that tree sure brought back memories of me hunting as a teen.
Your videos have always been about what interests you at the time. I think that is what makes your channel interesting and useful to me. Do what you want and I will enjoy watching it.
"I'd appreciate it if you stuck around" Love it! You do you brother, I'm watching. I just purchased a Klymit Static V Insulated Sleeping Pad because of your review. Thanks
I'm a poor boy from Northeast OH. I like to smooth it when I'm roughing it. I'm not going anywhere, hell I've been a fan since your first video. If I could afford that Jeep and some of the other cool stuff you have I'd use it. I do the best I can with what I have and don't worry about what others say or think. Learned a lot from your videos and enjoy watching them. Thanks
I get really tired of people bustin' my stones for having nice gear... I was glad to hear what you had to say on the matter and I really enjoyed the video! Thank you and God bless. Frank
Dave you are a good person and a GREAT teacher don't give those people the satisfaction of see you care what they think. Keep making these videos I love see good quality stuff get tested by someone I respect. Keep doing what you are doing and hopefully in the next year or so I can take one of your classes.
Dave as far as the Jeep goes, if it works for you then I like you having it. Seriously man in the last few years watching your videos has helped me get out more and enjoy more stuff so by all means I love it. I'm personally more of a pickup truck mentality but like you say "No one tool is going to be the best for everyone." Keep rocking on and putting boot leather to backside.
I appreciate everything you do Dave. I appreciate that your family understands what you do, and you are able to exercise your freedom to educate the world; and I appreciate your colleagues. I’m sorry you had to pause your production and felt the need to explain “you.” Too many people forget themselves and expect others to hold at the level they find themselves at. Keep doing you.
Great kit and even greater philosophy. I've always lived by 2 mantras in the great outdoors. 1. Any fool can be uncomforable. 2. There's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing/kit. Keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep subscribing/viewing.
Love your channel been in the woods all my life in Mississippi huntin and fishing and i still learn things everytime i watch you dont worry about the negative people they have prob never spent anytime in the woods keep doin yo thang sir
Don’t worry about any negative comments about your Jeep. The fact is that the mods and your set up for your Gladiator can be an idea starting point for anyone’s vehicle. Love the ideas and your build so keep it up.
These videos give me such a happiness as it reminds me of a time were I was going camping with my grandfather but unfortunately he passed away 2 years ago. Keep up the great content and keep youngster's like my self educated :) Thank you Dave
I think it is awesome your videos evolved from what they were to what they are now. You have already shown you can do with less but awesome to show the luxury of success. Your school is amazing as well. I am so excited for the next class. Keep up the great work!
Be proud of your accomplishments you always teach me something in your videos it’s still all about being able to survive whether it be a tarp or a $300 tent and you have shown over the years how to survive to do it with minimal equipment keep being you!
No worries Dave. Im just along for the ride. Been watching since you carried neck knives … 🤠 nothing wrong with your get down my friend… stay blessed an highly favored!!
It is great to see Dave going ultralight! I've been watching you for 6 or 7 years and used to wonder if this day would ever come. Gear changes with time but the survival knowledge is forever the same.
I just ran across across this video. Loved it. I've been watching your channel for a few years or more, absorbing information and making do some thinking on bushcraft and such. I have seen your progression from your earlier videos up to now with your recommendations on kit, techniques and mentality. I can't wait to learn more and test what I know soon. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Been watching your videos since the very beginning, even had the pleasure of meeting you years ago at SMKW. I love seeing the progression over the years and all the free skills you've given us over this platform, keep up the good work brother!
Dave I've watched your videos for at least the last 5 yrs. I have learned a lot from them. You seem like a good down to earth man. You are honest man. I think you have worked for everything you have. You have built a great business. You have told people how they can start a business from the ground up. You have earned everything you have. Enjoy life brother, you deserve the things in life that you want. God bless you and your family. Keep up the great videos. Thanks for all you have taught me.
Dave, after all the entertainment and education you have provided to all of us through your hard work, you deserve to use (and drive) whatever you want.
Thanks for making the video. I appreciate all you do In the Bush crafting camping in community.. I'm sure the old timers would be proud to share camp with you Dave!🇺🇸
Hey dave i found your video's 2 years ago and you turned me on to bushcraft and survival! By watching all your video's from the past to the present you have teached me everything i know im out in the wood every chance i get because of you i am a better person and honed a bunch of skills that i have mastered by goin out and doing it...be proud of what you accomplished and dont worry about how modern your video's are or not i watch every video you have posted and will continue to do so to learn more thanks brother im here to stay for support in any way i can
Brother you just keep on doing you. I enjoy your videos and they bring back great memories of the woodsman skills that’s been passed down through my family. I pray God continues to bless you and your family.
I love you Dave and love your Channel. I have considered myself a student of yours from the beginning. I love the evolution and that it has brought you a life that you love. I still love going back and watching those old videos also. Once again, thank you for all you do.
Keep pushing forward Dave! Great video, and I’ve always appreciated your commentary, and recommendations. I congratulate you on all your achievements. You’ve put the work in, and deserve to reap the blessings. I almost got a gladiator myself. I pray God pours more into your life brother.
Hey Dave, your true fans will watch anything you do. I finally got to go to your school this weekend. Had a great time. Love your videos on the gladiator and ham radio.
Dave I did 22 years of LEO, and 7 years as a BOMB TECH, You do not need to regret or apologize for getting smarter. Nessmuk would have carried the same tent, and a BIC if he could. Thanks, 73 KO4TFF
Hey brother, you deserve all the success and rewards that come your way. The education you have provided for such a long time is tried, true and invaluable. God bless and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
All good Dave. My gear has evolved even before your vids on them. I got into the ultralight stuff because it made sense to me. Cost more but you carry much less weight into the woods. I’m a fan of the channel and will continue to be. 👍
Dave, you have been an inspiration! You're sharing changed my life! Thank you! I wish you didnt have to answer to negative comments. Know that i love everything from your knowledge to your products! Thank you sir!
I've gotten a lot of enjoyment and learning out of your videos. I don't particularly enjoy some of the expensive product reviews, but I see their merit. I won't promise to watch them, but I'll always be checking in for more of the stuff I do like. This isn't unique to your channel, I do the same with all the youtube I watch, from amateur radio to guns to science content. You keep doing what you see value in.
Dave the first time I saw your jeep gadiator in a photo made me very happy for you, because you worked very hard to have it and give yourself that luxury in your life. I have followed you for 14 years and for me, being a dyslexic, it was very easy to learn from your videos that laid the foundations to study on my own and become a survival instructor (I am currently a survival instructor at SIWA) and I have my school in the delta of tigre buenos aires argentina, we will always find those who do not like the progress of people. Thanks for all that you do!
There isn't one. Not ONE video you've ever made that I didn't learn, get inspired, or just strait up entertain the hell outta me! Never stop Dave. I often re watch videos from 10 years ago. You could do a video on propper trimming of nails in the bush and I'll still love it!🤣
Been here since like 2011 or something, love your content and character. Keep doin your thing, brother. Its much needed and much appreciated. And congrats on all your successes, you deserve it.
You've always kept things real, man. I may not have agreed with your style at times, but I'm glad to have been watching since the "witchery of archery" days. You've never sugar coated things, and you've owned your mistakes. I've learned a good deal from your videos and continue to enjoy them over a decade later. Glad to see you're doing well!
Excellent vid Dave, I don’t say much in the comments I was taut To keep my mouth shut and ears and eyes open you have given me great info over the years. The boys at Pathfinder make good vids as well. I retired a few months ago but still use Pathfinder products when I’m physically able a great channel.
Dave, I have followed you for nearly 20 yrs, and you along with corporal's Corner, have given me an endless supply of knowledge. I believe in your products, and use them. I'm glad to see your brand new truck, and you should be proud of it. If you want to go ultralight that's just fine by me as long as you don't start doing videos in cafe's having grown a greased handle bar mustache, and wearing skinny jeans! I love you man! Looking forward to the next one.
Yes, the older we get the harder it is to carry all that heavy gear but I'll do it as long as I can because it is what I like. I know there is all this lightweight gear but I'm just not ready to give up my traditional gear just yet. Great video Dave.
I remember first stumbling unto your channel over a decade ago when the original slingbow video was first uploaded. Back then the channel was still called Wildernessoutfitters. I've been watching, learning and practicing ever since. Still my favorite series to this day is 21st Century Longhunter. I really enjoyed learning bushcrafting skills from a historical perspective.
You are the first of my subscription videos I always watch before the rest. I've enjoyed them over the years. The first one was you making Mountain Man Breakfast with Rufus. I miss that video, it was a good one. Keep up the great work
Man you are an inspiration from the time I first watched you on here and the time I hung out with you in texas. You earned every single bit of greatness you have achieved, and the envy of others just shows toy did something right.
My late grandmother used to make gravy and biscuits that she added the squirrel that my grandpa, father and myself hunted. That was some good eating and this video reminded me of it. Keep up the great work Dave.
I am glad your doing well you have definitely earned it I appreciate all that you have offered free of charge over the years I support your business been very happy with your products best wishes
I am a long time subscriber and learner from your channel, and I wasn't into the ultra light weight modern equipment. That is until last year (I think) when you put the Nesmuk mentality into the equation. Then it all clicked for me. As you grow I (we) grow, so I say thank you Dave!
Yeah bro Squirrel hunting was the first hunting I done as a kid. That was 22 years ago, it never gets old. I plan on taking my boys this year. Never stop teaching America to get back to the basics! Meeting you at the knife works in Pigeon Forge was one of the highlights of my trip last Thursday!
Love the Gladiator videos, love this too! I like watching Dave hunt for little squirrels.
Agreed! Doing some retro ‘re-uploads’ would be a treat
I would love to see those topics from the past revisited myself along with more basic self reliance videos
I've watched him from the beginning lol.. you'll have to clear your noggin he teaches you so much!
The rule of kit is always true: Cheap, Light, Durable - choose any 2 of those.
Cheap and durable is my go to lol
Light & durable, always. I can save up for items, I cannot save up for abusing the tar outta myself at 50 ;)
Yes, usually why I only go with stuff that Canterbury recommended

One of my favorite stories of my life was my pregnant wife yelling at me “ you stunk up the whole trailer with your damn squirrel gravy”.
Haha, I had that exact thing happen to me! Well, it was stew not gravy, but same result.
I remember you Dave with your gear in a military foot locker years ago at Dirt Time (2009). Your hard work and dedication to the craft all these years brought you from that to a great success. I am honered to have met you.

Always good to here and see the Dave ..
Thanks for the tip about the fresh cuttings. I learned something new. And dont let the haters get to you. You dont get where you are without busting your ass. Jealousy is ugly.

Brother you just keep on doing you. I enjoy your videos and they bring back great memories of the woodsman skills that’s been passed down through my family.

Nice vid Sir, simple kit light weight, and it meant all needs for the night. Thanks for your time and educating us.
We appreciate all the videos so far and sincerely hope you continue them as long as you can. Thank you!!
I like your videos, I am 66 and have damaged my knees and feet over the years so these things are important to me.
That truck build has been a great series to watch.
Dave, you have been an inspiration! You're sharing changed my life! Thank you! I wish you didnt have to answer to negative comments. Know that i love everything from your knowledge to your products! Thank you sir!
Dave, please don’t stop. I’ve enjoyed ALL of your series. From the yurt to the jeep to the spider shelter.
Dave can't of said it any better then that!!! Good job buddy!!
thank you dave for the comments on the gladiator. if more people said how they really felt we would be in a better place.
Now that's what I call a real good time.
Thanks for taking us with you. 👌🤠👍
Excellent vid Dave, I don’t say much in the comments I was taut
To keep my mouth shut and ears and eyes open you have given me great info over the years. The boys at Pathfinder make good vids as well. I retired a few months ago but still use Pathfinder products when I’m physically able a great channel.
Well said Dave!! I’ve been around I’ll stick around and learn more n more from Dave!!!
Brother, you do you and live your life. I'm thankful you share your knowledge and experiences with us!
Love these nessmuk vids dave, and it's been great and educational seeing your evolution over the years. Keep it up!
You are the first of my subscription videos I always watch before the rest. I've enjoyed them over the years. The first one was you making Mountain Man Breakfast with Rufus. I miss that video, it was a good one. Keep up the great work
Nice camp, Dave. I like your meal philosophy (bring some, forage some). God bless.
I've enjoyed watching your evolution over the years! Cold gets hard on the body as we age. Really appreciate all you've done!
Good stuff Dave. I was in the heavy carry crew a while ago but finances allowed be to build a lighter kit over time, game changer!
Thank you for sharing all of your amazing knowledge sir. You are an inspiration. Truly enjoy watching your cooking and eating videos
I am glad your doing well you have definitely earned it I appreciate all that you have offered free of charge over the years I support your business been very happy with your products best wishes
Thanks Dave for giving us these great videos and the good tips you better believe we are going to keep watching
I am a long time subscriber and learner from your channel, and I wasn't into the ultra light weight modern equipment. That is until last year (I think) when you put the Nesmuk mentality into the equation. Then it all clicked for me. As you grow I (we) grow, so I say thank you Dave!
Great video, Dave. This is real life stuff.
