Hello! Thank you for the video! I’m an Army Cadet and I joined a month ago, and I just got my combat and ceremonial uniforms, and I really didn’t know how to form my beret, so this really did come in handy, again, thanks for the video!
Hi, Great video. I was just wondering how to keep the Beret that shape every time you come to wear it. If you just leave it on a table will it not just lose its shape?
You're lucky to get berets, on parade many times in the 1970s was the problem of our Wedgies getting blown off by the wind. Plus you don't have brass hat badges to polish any more, or any brass bits to work on.
You do not need to shave the beret though i would recommend it. You must do it very carefully as you can shave a hole in the top. Once again, I will not take responsibility if you wreck your beret : ) . And the water temperature does not matter as much as you probably think it does.
www.canex.ca/en/rcaf-blue-beret-blu-126826 and yes you would need the patch. With that being said though your squadron should issue the beret to you for free.
For some reason, our squadron have never in my cadet career handed out berets to us before... is the beret just a thing for certain squadrons or certain areas?
I am saying this as an army cadet, the easiest way and quickest way to form your beret is ironing it, Iron the formed side as you would with pants or tunic, then just wait for it to dry
It should be snug not tight. A common misconception of how to wear a beret is by pulling it down. The beret should be more like resting on top of your head.
My my flight Sargent said that the inner liner needed to be cut out but I'm not a 100 percent sure it that's what I do. Can you plz respond so that I have the opinion on another person thx.
You are not allowed to keep your uniform after aging out as it is the program's/DND’s property. So technically you're not allowed to keep your uniform in any element.

you are most welcome!
Thank you, one of the best instructions on the internet.
That means a lot to me
I had to find a large watermelon to dry my beret
😂
Thank you so much for this video! Was able to help my son mold his beret from cadets!
My squadron linked this video in the ftu training night so thank you!
That's awesome!
Hey I am an air cadet this helped like crazy thanks again!
Just got my uniforms last week and I’ve been stressing about all these tiny details. These videos are SAVING me right now so thanks for that!
Thank you very clear on instructions and helpful thanks
You are most welcome.
Apparently my Cadet Squadron might switch to FTU's for weekly training nights
My squadron did that.
All air squadrons will. That direction was in CANCDTGEN recently
@@kevindebiasio5144 interesting
i think its all of us are switching
Worst decision ever
Do you hide the bow at the back in the beret or just let it sit there? Great video by the way keep it up!
Yes. You can just tuck the bow in to the back of the beret.
hide it
This video showed me the SCC needs more videos a lot of army a lot of RAFAC but no SCC so imma try spread a lil knowledge thanks for the motivation
Thank you so much last time I formed my beret I was critsisde and this helped alot
Thanks so much, I am friends with your brother and cousin, and a member of 2573, just got my FTU an this helped a lot

I'm sending this to all the cadets in my platoon there berets look like muffin hats so they need this thanks for making this video
This was so helpful thanks❤️
Hi, I am trying to form my beret, but there is very little excess felt to put over the right side. What should I do?
Excellent job!
Thank you very much!

Okay so you're saying hot water another guy said cold water which one should I use. And do we need to shave the berets

@@how2cadet500 thanks very much
CAn you give me the canex link for these berets? and do you need to get the badge for it separatly?
Your Supply Officer can order them from Logistik.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU! This video was so helpful
If I don’t have a bowl that fits to my head, should I just wear it say, around the house?
yup that works!
in the wise words of zach hazard "take beret out of plastic bag. cry for hours"
Hello, I used this video as an instructional aid in my teaching. Thank you
For some reason, our squadron have never in my cadet career handed out berets to us before... is the beret just a thing for certain squadrons or certain areas?
This is the first year that air cadets are getting issued berets so it might take a while before your squadron gets them.
@@how2cadet500 Got it, thanks. 😁

they say not to get the black leather part wet around the beret because it forms mold, i don’t know if that’s true or not, but i’m not risking it. 😬
My squadron just got FTUs so perfect timing
⏰
can i just use a blowdryer to make it dry quicker
I would assume no trench in the case of air as it is a style only adopted by some army regiments?
we need more uploadssssssssss
I know. Really sorry. Kinda drowning in schoolwork right now though.
@@how2cadet500 oh
Just done it! 😉
Is the beret supposed to be tight on my head?

Does it also work to wet it in the shower?
Alternatively: wet it in the morning, shape on your heard, then wear it all day as it dries
I have definitely done that before
I heard from rumours that air cadets can keep their uniform after aging out!?!? Is this true because my Sea Cadet Corps won’t let us?
You are not allowed to keep your uniform after aging out as it is the program's/DND’s property. So technically you're not allowed to keep your uniform in any element.
This man got the leather band wet. Oh lordie...
There's no leather on this beret.
2:56 I DONT HAVE A DAY REEEEEEE
I just joined the RCAC so am still a bit confused, but earned my sub for explaining everything.
Thank you for the sub, and don't worry things will start to clear up as you go along.
@@how2cadet500 Yeah, I joined late (Supposed to join in September) so I am going to have to learn fast.
As a fsgt experience comes with time
yoo what squadron?
So they issue berets now too along with a wedge cap ?
Yes.
Is there a quicker way to let it dry or do you just have to let it sit?
In my sqdn, we were told to use a hairdryer on it while it's still on our heads to minimize the amount of misshaping as well as make it quicker
@@wowza6485 Yeah, I ended up using my hairdryer on low, it really helped a lot
My beret extra felt barley goes past the rim is that to small?
Great vid 👌
thanks i will try it on my berret
good job
does anyone know what the girl’s hairstyles should look like with the beret on?
cool
Thanks!
Freeze it if you can. Shave any excess wool off with a razor.
Should I cut out the liner on the beret?
yes
I have question where can I buy a ftu c5 uniform
Uhhh any answer
issued by your unit. You shouldn't buy one.
@@AlexMeadus thx sir cause I'm in military arm foces
@@4T2R_razio C5 uniforms are not authorized for wear by CAF members, Refer to the CF Dress instructions.
Thanks so much
You can also do that in the shower to directly do it on your head
Forgot to mention to pull the liner from the flap, and you should wear the beret until dried.
Like the video only thing I don’t like is that you ring out the beret wrong you don’t twist it but otherwise good Intrustional video
I found it a lot better to use a knife, a lint brush, and a spritzer bottle.
Killed me how u put the leather in the water
There is no leather on this beret. The black rim is made out of fabric.
Life saver
i was told to never get the leather strap wet
dont soak the leather band it will shrink the beret
330 squadron gang
👇
I just showered with it.
DO NOT WET THE LEATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The new ones do not have leather rims. They are instead made out of black fabric.
Why you asking me this 🤨 i refuse to answer 🤓🤓🤓🤓
Cut out the black liner, then do exactly what you are doing.
-Old guy-
Ruined my beret...
how?
eh thanks eh but how hot should the water be
