This is one of the only times where the spouse or ex spouse of a victim actually reacted like their loved one just died. Usually they're weirdly calm about it
Gordon Clapp was the same way. He played a whole bunch of cops, many of them in true crime made for TV movies, before being cast as Dt. Medavoy on NYPD Blue. And kept playing cops on a variety of cop shows on TV afterwards. Some actors just have a certain vibe to them. Joe Lo Truglio and Gordon Clapp tend to give off a strong cop vibe.

I love that he blames also blames the system for letting an obvious unstable patient out when he shouldn’t have been or at least had a caretaker with him
I loved this episode. So many episodes are dedicated to following the cliche cop procedural… Random citizen or couple is out and they stumble across a dead body, detectives enter, find out information, question suspect, question suspect, question suspect, arrest someone, find out it couldn’t be them and arrest the right person and end with McCoy sending them to jail with a trial. But this episode wasn’t about that. This focused on the lack of care and horrid realities of the American justice system and how it’s not about rehabilitation it’s about the numbers and meeting quotas. Amazing episode…
Why are pharmaceutical companies never held accountable for the harm they either create or enable? Why does the the US and others put financial incentives ahead of the very patients they claim to help. Money will let you get away with anything
Not sure how you're making this leap. That episode was about overall inadequate healthcare, particularly psychiatric care, in prisons. There's a lot more involved in that than pharmaceutical companies. The whole healthcare system in the U.S. is screwed up.
Spoilers: The head of medical services at the prison Gallant was at was found guilty of manslaughter, because of negligence and cost-cutting that led to Gallant being released early.
Same guy in the background of 0:40 is also the same guy in the background of the next scene wearing a police uniform with light blue shirt 👕 at 0:42 lol
Sigh, I miss Lenny Briscoe, he was one of my favourite L&O characters with his dead-pan one-liners, Briscoe and Greene were my second favourite cop duo with Briscoe and Logan my favourite.
in this scene, I can see some of casts would then play in different hit series such as Modern Family, The Flash, and Brooklyn 99.. most of them are comedies😅
My brother in law was a beat cop in Detroit. Moved to Phoenix got on Scottsdale police and worked his way up to Detective. Can happen. Just apply yourself
We finally got to see Boyle before he made detective. Was this before he worked with that elderly cop? Also Phil, you had a family before getting together with Claire? Didn't know you were like that.
It's nice to see that beat cop worked his way up to detective in Brooklyn.
Nice catch
The Nine Nine!
to the Nine Nine
Literally the first thing I noticed too
He gave me an STD for his promotion party!
Only this level of grief would drive a man into the arms of Claire. Stay strong, Phil. We love you.

People have gone to jail because their neighbors and cops didn’t like their reaction not being close enough to what they see on TV
some people are 'calm' bc they're in shock
@minimight4649or it hasn't sunk in yet.
It's because we need to understand them when they give exposition 😂
It's called "overacting" and is completely out of place in a show like this.
Joe Lo Truglio played a beat cop here, another cop in Reno 911, and a detective in Brooklyn 99. Must be one of his expertise lol
Here's a fun fact for you. Joe's father was a cop.
Gordon Clapp was the same way. He played a whole bunch of cops, many of them in true crime made for TV movies, before being cast as Dt. Medavoy on NYPD Blue. And kept playing cops on a variety of cop shows on TV afterwards.

Clapp plays creeps a lot now on procedural dramas.
Some good comedians on this episode
FBI agent in the movie Paul
Wow! Ty Burrell is a versatile actor! I don't see or hear even the tiniest scraps of Phil Dunphy in this character!
watch him in Dawn of the Dead 2000, he's a real piece of work!
Or his other L&O guest appearance as the "guardian" of a teenager (played by Sebastian Stan) each suspected of sniper-style shootings.
Broooo. I'm overwhelmed by his range switch.
In the 2004 Dawn of the Dead he played the asswhole character and a very good one at that
He in Black hawk down as medic .
So we’ve got Phil and Boyle in one episode
Joe west too
@@spideyvas2396 he's the main actor here so--

The Asian tourists taking a photo with the dead body is one of the funniest things ever on Law & Order.
Dude my cousin went to new york and he too took a selfie with some bum that looked completely out of it.
Stereotypes abound in the L & O franchises.....
You go to New York for the crime lol. Lmao it happens all the time
why tf did they take a selfie with a hobo? thats mean and dangerous@@themachoechidnaugandarandy7583
My favorite is the L&O Criminal Intent episode where the deaf is holding a protest outside of a doctor’s office.
I really love how the woman call the cops to help "the sleepy" woman also the cops really went right there.
It's one of the most sacred rules of Girl Code: We protect each other from creeps

That "family" photo is a perfect summarization of true crime shows in a nutshell.
0:50 -- LOL the family with the big "Say 'Cheese'!" smiles getting their pics taken in front of the crime scene.
capturing a priceless New York memory
