The solution can be any number of pipes going *backwards* where you came from, as well as the usual forward options.

Ok I think I have the best new pitch/idea for Mario Maker 3: *game mechanic modifiers*. So for any individual level, you can add or remove any of Mario's core mechanics to any playstyle, such as: spin/wall/triple jumps, ground pounds, up-throws, item holding, etc. Imagine Mario 1 levels with wall jumping and item holding, Mario 3 with spin jumps, ground pounds in Mario World, and so on. Or you could turn off individual mechanics and make a more catered experience. It could tell you the modifiers on the stage's title screen so you don't get caught off-guard. I think this would be a nice way to mix it up rather than forcing everyone who wants a particular trick to be forced to use a particular game style. Additionally, adding special game styles for any of the following would be nice: Mario 2, Mario Land 1/2, side-scrolling versions of Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, or Odyssey. They have a lot they can do with these.

They may have put the checkpoints before the pipes so they could clear the level in order. Because when you create a level with two checkpoints it makes you clear from the Overworld checkpoint first, after clearing the whole thing in one go with _no_ checkpoints of course.

I guarantee I could design a level that would make you have to choose if you wanted a checkpoint. Simple matter of making it give you a powerup and going from there. Simple no powerup level with 1 way to take damage that recycles you and softlocks you if you fail. Then you could avoid the checkpoint if you might beat it but get it and maybe be softlocked if you fail the challenge
