This made me tear up a bit, my mom was put away for false allegations against her, she was living in a toxic household at the time with a bunch of creeps. Telling me her trauma of being beat on and nearly raped while in prison set me mad as well as it did her. My mom is just like this character.. fun, loving and extroverted. People can be evil and very manipulative. We live in a very sick and utterly vulgar world.
Were they really false allegations though? Do you know for sure? I grew up my whole life believing my brother was a victim and wrongfully put in prison. Only to more recently find out that he was guilty the whole time and been lying to us all along and my mom was also covering for him.
This honestly breaks my heart because this same thing almost happened to my mentally challenged uncle. He suffered brain damage at 8 years old that has pretty much left him mentally at that age, and he doesn't seem to understand the concept that kids and adults are not the same. He just wanted to be friends with everyone and once when my older brother was supposed to be watching him, he fell asleep and my uncle had wondered outside and through the neighborhood. And keep in mind this is a man who isn't mentally stable, so when he left the house he didn't realize he needed more than boxer shorts on. And like her, he had no intent to harm the kids he ended up talking to, nor did he have any sexual motive. He was just confused and he was extremely lonely because back then his mom (our grandma) wouldnt let him leave the house at all. We only found him because several officers were sent to the house he was at. When we got there it broke my heart because my uncle was just sobbing in the back of the car because nobody explained to him what was wrong. They just called him sick and a pervert (he doesn't know what that means) and all he knew was now people were angry at him and they tied his hands up and put him in an unfamiliar car. After a while charges were dropped but seeing that reminds me why I take care to socialize him properly now that grandma is dead and he's allowed to see the sun

Even as a neurodivergent adult, this honestly breaks my heart - I've known adults who've had developmental issues or who are also neurodivergent who can't really handle being around adults, but kids? It's the only group they feel at home with, because kids have big hearts + big imaginations. It hurts to know that there ARE definitely people like Crazy Eyes irl who really don't have that space, and may feel trapped in their bubble like myself to the friends/family they *have* vs the people they want to be around or feel happiest with. Not having that network is a struggle, regardless of if you're neurotypical or not. 🥺💔 All she watched was a friend, and in the end she made a mistake & they both got hurt out of fear... Commutation is key, but nobody explains - or can explain - how incredibly hard it is.
Orange Juice, AR 15 assault rifle..... At first I thought she was joking until it pulled back and showed it in the box holy shit, definitely a jab at how nonchalant we treat guns in America
This is one of the saddest scenes in the show. It shows how she was trying to be kind and friendly and how she’s never meant any harm. So sad she’s in prison :(
I’m soo sorry for both of them! He was so terrified and she didn’t know she was scaring him.. The sister should have taken her somewhere or arranged care..
Seeing this, it makes sense why her sister wont see her. It's likely down to a combination of factors: She already had a complicated relationship with "Crazy Eyes" from their childhood, their parents doted on her more, she was constantly overworked taking care of her, and the first time she took some time off, her sister unwittingly kidnapped a child which led to his death. I suspect there was quite a media circus, and likely lawsuits from the boy's grieving family. In tragedies like this, everyone around the killer gets blasted as well, friends, family, associates. She was likely blasted on the news and online, and that type of abuse leaves scars. All of those various factors: the guilt of the boy's death, being blamed by some for it, her name being dragged through the mud, the trial, her parents continuing to support Susan, had to take their toll. It makes sense that she'd want to cut off her sister completely. In her mind, Crazy Eyes likely symbolizes all the misery and suffering in her life.
She should win another Emmy just for this episode... I mean did y'all see that?? And these aren't even her most intense scenes! Uzo Aduba is an extraordinary actress who outdoes herself every time and i get blown away each time she's on screen. She's underrated af too.
+Mercedes Rudeness Monroe Oh, definitely. I don't see anyone else playing Suzanne. She plays the hell out of the character, down to the very last detail. Truly impeccable.
+hamad saheem i guess not, but what i meant was that when most people talk about her, at least what i've seen, they just say "that girl that plays crazy eyes". I just meant that it's unacceptable that mediocre artists like selena gomez (just an example, no offense Sel) are mainstream celebs while Uzo's unbelievably breathtaking talent is for the most part left overshadowed. I'm just saying, Uzo Aduba deserves to be a household name. (Even though she obviously doesn't care about the fame factor of it all and is just glad she gets to do what she loves, which all in all is admirable and i love her more for it❤️) ...
Shows like this I appreciate. I loved OITNB and was so sad it ended. I appreciate shows when they shine light into a lot of every day things that happens especially when it involves mental illnesses. Not a lot of people out there are aware of it bc not a lot of info has been put out there. Too many things have been overlooked by society.
I wasnt aware of how excellent her acting was until I saw her in interviews. My God, her opera singing voice and mannerisms- this lady mastered that role👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
everyone can look like a good actor with 15 takes. they put 12 year olds in front of cameras and their acting looks great. why? because of the 15 takes they shoot. I bet this scene took 4 hours to shoot. and one of the 15 takes always looks good. I'm not hating. It's just the reality. #staysafe #stayhome #stayhealthy
SAME! I remember a conversation I had at the lunch table in kindergarten and one of my classmates said “Teachers live at the school! They eat here and sleep here!” Then another one of us argued that they didn’t. I was on the side that they did live in the school! My theory was there was a secret upstairs with living quarters.
I never fully watched this show but when my parents watched it i would randomly watch it with them, I remember watching this episode and thinking of how unique the situation is, all she wanted was a friend, someone that could understand her, it makes sense why she’s in jail for it but I think she should have been put somewhere with a bunch of other people and taken cared of, kinda like a retirement home but not
To the people asking why she is in jail and not a mental asylum, I believe it’s because a child died. If it was just the kidnapping, they would understand that it’s not jail that she needs, but when a child dies because she technically kidnapped him, it’s a whole other situation. It’s usually a done deal when you are responsible for a child’s death.
You'd be surprised how much stuff like this actually happens. Mental illness is labeled as a crime and then disabled folx are thrown in prison. No help whatsoever

One of the things I love most about the show is it did a terrific Job showing how people are people and there are no good and bad people. Life is a combination of circumstances, choices, actions and reactions. How events are interpreted is what we call our "reality". always have compassion. And when you don't, strive to.
That's nice but unfortunately some people really are just monsters (not Suzanne, obviously) But the people who want to do nothing more than kill and torture.. I'll never be convinced that it's just due to a series of circumstances or whatever
You are extremely naive and slow if you believe there are no bad people. There are people cutting off ppls heads, raping them, abusing children etc., in real life-this is a tv show. Tf is wrong with you.
Everybody is getting mad at Dylan but like he’s far to young to understand and distinguish a disability on Suzanne so he has every right to be afraid of her when she didn’t let him leave even if she didn’t mean it in a threatening way
Right..I had interactions with the mentally disabled when I was a boy and I can remember being afraid of them. Even as a kid you know they're not right as an adult and it can be scary.
That’s partly parents fault. If parents educated their kids instead of trying to shield them from the world this wouldn’t have happened either. As a child I knew about disabled folk and mentally ill folk. Because besides having a few classmates and one relative my mom took the time to explain to me why they act the way they do.
@@Janae2000 I agree ... at the age of 6 I knew what being mentally challenged was... but then again, that’s what my mother does for a living is take care of mental ill people so she knew how to educate me.
First kidnapping is ˈkidnapiNG/ Learn to pronounce noun the action of abducting someone and holding them captive he wasn’t held captive and to the whole innocent child not really the kid is old enough to know better at old enough to know a fire escape is a way out after trying the door and he dials 911 instead of mom opens the fire latter way himself and backwards walks out like a idiot she tried to grab him he should never been there but the parents or guardians shouldn’t have let him out of there sites and consideration towards how long that talk was and her playing with the truck questions about the brother and the kid would have to walk all the way around the fence without parents or guardian taking any notice to the kid leaving is simple child neglect
her story makes me so sad. she was failed by the people who were responsible for her. thats why people turn out like this. they have autism or some other disorder and need certain help because of it, and when they dont get that help this is what happens. she should get actual genuine psychological help, therapy, meds, whatever. she did still kidnap and through negligence, kill a kid. but shes not a monster.
So if her sister is her legal guardian, that left her home alone, who really needs to be in jail for neglect and abandonment? Taking a break was fine, not arranging for care, not fine.
That's exactly what I was thinking too!!, Like I completely understand that she wanted a break, but she shouldn't have left her alone knowing she's mentally unstable.
Yea, I thought it was careless of her sister to be like "go and make some friends" like she'll just figure it out and things would work out like it does with a fully-abled person.
Sad part is she was a child in her own mind she wasn’t capable of understanding the consequences of her actions due to her disability she wouldn’t have the capability of understanding what she did wrong yes the parents had every right to be upset at the child death was an accident and she was punished for a long sentence when she wasn’t as dangerous as most killers serving a life sentence
Uzo Aduba does such an amazing job. She's terrifying and completely sympathetic at the same time. She's probably going to win the Emmy next year for these scenes.
With vulnerable adults, it is best to teach them to speak about their disabilities and know their strengths and weaknesses. I know this is just a character but I taught children with disabilities and I am also on the spectrum. I relate to kids and adults the same way and can also run a company board business. I am on the spectrum and many can deny it but I know me and my brain, my levels, my betrayals, my trust factors, my vulnerabilities. I’ve been used and abused by many people since I was a young child. I’ve had enough!!!
They should but that would be too real. They still prefer characters who get through just fine, have awesome jobs, and love interests falling out of trees.
@@josaidso8438 scripted shit usually leaves out reality lol. Ppl do leave their kids with folks irresponsibly, but a person with a obvious mental condition??? Like wtf going on lmao
Scenes like this make me want to scream and cry because I've got an older brother JUST like her. I know he's too much and it makes adults nervous but he means well. I love her character so much
+Joseph Norris yeah this is a show but the sad part is that situations involving people with mental illness as far criminal justice getting involved is poorly handled. Like just this year in America people with illnesses confronted by the cops were shot or horribly mishandled. Not to mention a good chunk of the prison population are people with mental illnesses who weren't properly treated or couldn't afford treatment. Then freak out in public and shortly in jail afterwards
This video clip is such a powerful example of real life mental health challenges that occur in our society. In this situation, Suzanne is not at fault for her actions because her mental health diagnosis precludes her ability to think logically and intelligibly. In her case, she absolutely should have 24/7 access to a steward of care. Her sister, being her legal guardian, is at fault by nature for not ensuring Suzanne's safety and wellfare, thereby also protecting others from these kinds of incidents. Ideally, Suzanne should never have gone to jail to begin with--she should have been admitted to an inpatient psychiatric facility and her sister should have gone to prison for involuntary manslaughter of a minor. This scenario breaks my heart because this truly does represent the world we are living in, where people who need specialized help are ignored and are routinely thrown to the wolves in prison where they are not able to function or cope with their stress, which can easily lead to severe increases in depressive and suicidal thoughts, outbursts of verbal and/or physical aggression and anger, and generally, just further makes them out to be villains when it is simply all due to them being grossly neglected. It is beyond shameful the way our system demonizes mental health patients.
@Yvette Archer had the mind of a child in the body of 20 something year old. So others will label her as a pedo and kidnapper for the rest of her life when she didn't know any better.
@@zim807 She would have needed real professional help, even before all this happened, even just to explain to her how sozial stuff and people work, and that she needs to make age- apropriate friends and can't approach children even though mentally she is one herself. This is difficult but people can't deal with that alone like Suzanne and her family, they need help.
His mother was probably around, most kids are attended by their parents at playgrounds. This is a disturbing scenario because it does/can happen, even with the parent around 😔
I do agree leaving a mentally ill person without care is neglect. I think they are held accountable in situations like this, which wouldn't be fair either but would make more sense.
the scary thing about kidnappings (even though it was unintentional in this case) is that even if you do keep an eye on your kid, you might glance away for three seconds and your kid is already gone
True, but if you were taking care of a person every day for years, and that person was an adult who was capable of having a job, then you might try to eventually take 1 weekend to yourself.
+Wol4ex I'm not convinced she wasn't arrested for kidnapping and not the death of the boy. Idk..maybe both. I dont think the police think she killed him. They have to have been able to see that she thought they were friends and that she isn't quite right. Either way, a terribly sad scene.
+TeenMomTo baby.J It is of you are an adult and you take a child from a playground to your home without their parents permission. She didn't know it was, but it certainly is. The child called 911.
So should her sister spend every moment of the rest of her life with Suzanne? You don't even do that with the person you marry!! What should her sister have done, then? Never have a life of her own? Why is it that most people in these comments only care about Suzanne but don't seem to have any empthy for her sister or the boy that died b/c of Suzanne's actions??
+Donna Brooks no... Her sister could have hired a care giver. And people don't sympathize for the little boy as much because he isn't a maim character. They are more in tune with Su. When they watch the show they see Su, so their comments will be about her. Btw when you take in a mentally unstable person, you have to find a way to cope. If her sister knew she would want to be separate from her, they have homes for that. It could have been avoided, no one is saying her sister had to give up life for her.
+Donna Brooks yeah I see what you are saying but people do feel bad for the little boy because it was an accident that could've been avoided. If Grace had someone watch her or sent her to stay with another relative or something none of this would have happened. I also agree that it shouldn't of been just Graces responsibility to look after Susan. It is sad that Grace took a chance and it didn't end will...
If you look back at the childhood aspect, the sister grew up in the family that always pushed Susan too much. The sister was under the impression "she'll be fine" because that's what she was taught since she was young. It all comes back to the parents not accepting their kid had a mental condition or accepting and never doing anything about it.
This is just so sad. It’s clear he never been exposed to an adult with special needs. Also, it’s clear that she didn’t understand what was happening. Her sister should have arranged for a caretaker. She even told her she didn’t think she was ready to be alone that weekend. I hope her sister got charged too because you aren’t supposed to leave a person like that alone.
That kid wasn’t in the wrong for calling 911; he truly didn’t know where he was and panicked. If anything, I blame Suzanne’s parents for their overprotective nature and not getting Suzanne ready for the real world or the help she needs. She needed a lot of mental help, preparation for life and friends her own age.
It's actually not Suzanne's parents fault either. All the preparation for the real world and how to deal with people still would not help who she is. She is who she is. Who is to say that she didn't get all the behavioral therapy money can buy and was surrounded by great individuals who taught her valuable skills. Some things are just the way they are despite the efforts of people that work endlessly to make it not so.
She shouldn’t have been put in prison she shoulda been given help

She clearly does not operate on the same level of functioning as other adults. If you don't have family, find a friend, if not, try and call for a caretaker. If you are someone's guardian you have to act like one.

@@pequenaesposa3286 I love how you completely ignore her actions were completely unintentional. She clearly suffers from a mental illness and therefore should receive proper treatment for her illness. She did not mean for the child to be killed, nor was she a pedophile. She does not "deserve" to go to prison. She deserves proper care and treatment for her mental illness. Jesus. Did you even watch the show?
This made me tear up a bit, my mom was put away for false allegations against her, she was living in a toxic household at the time with a bunch of creeps. Telling me her trauma of being beat on and nearly raped while in prison set me mad as well as it did her. My mom is just like this character.. fun, loving and extroverted. People can be evil and very manipulative. We live in a very sick and utterly vulgar world.
Yes. We do.

That’s horrible, I can’t even imagine how he must have felt in that police car 😞
@@Rebecca_Bailey he's doing a lot better now thankfully, we explained everything once we were home in a more family friendly manor to save his feelings so he thinks he was just being called someone who's a bad person for scaring the kids, not what it actually was just because we all agreed he shouldnt have to feel like he is associated with that kind of thing, but he knows not to just run off without saying anything and if he is outside and he gets lost just look for a gas station and ask for help and always leave home dressed totally, and also don't approach kids unless they say hi first and all that because unfortunately he still doesnt quite understand what the difference is because if him basically being stuck mentally at around 8 years old, but he now uses the basic rule of if they arent as tall as i am then they are probably a kid and it's best not to talk to them
@@Rebecca_Bailey he still gets anxious if we are pulled over/theres an officer or car in the area but he's genuinely a very sweet person and soon I'm hoping to get full custody of our uncle so I can help him make friends with support groups for people with disabilities similar to his, because I dont want him to feel so lonely

To the people asking why she is in jail and not a mental asylum, I believe it’s because a child died. If it was just the kidnapping, they would understand that it’s not jail that she needs, but when a child dies because she technically kidnapped him, it’s a whole other situation. +Joseph Norris yea it is a tv show but one of the things about OITNB it's so real about how people are treated.
The end really got me
I almost choked from laughing so hard 😂

+Wol4ex I'm not convinced she wasn't arrested for kidnapping and not the death of the boy. Idk..maybe both. I dont think the police think she killed him. They have to have been able to see that she thought they were friends and that she isn't quite right. Either way, a terribly sad scene.
+Wol4ex I was waiting for it 😖
+TeenMomTo baby.J It is of you are an adult and you take a child from a playground to your home without their parents permission. She didn't know it was, but it certainly is. The child called 911.
Susan tried to warn grace by telling her I'm a Young 28 meaning she knew she wasn't mentally mature enough to be alone....😥
😪😪😪😭
She's a really great actress!
Uzo’s acting ability is amazing. Seriously, the way she can channel her character takes true talent.
“You said you were fine with it.” “I WAS WHEN IT WAS A HYPOTHETICAL” literally me😭
Holy cow.. I don't keep up with this show but always wondered her story. How heartbreaking..
I feel bad for both of them. Suzanne was confused, Dylan was scared.
That's so sad she's just a friendly person w/ problems and can't help herself
4 Fantastic Friends yeah😔
4 Fantastic Friends so true
4 Fantastic Friends True
4 Fantastic Friends like me (sometimes)
4 Fantastic Friends Exactly!
They didn’t have to put her in prison she has a DISABILITY
@@lifewitkassie she still was the direct cause of a child's death
It's actually not Suzanne's parents fault either. All the preparation for the real world and how to deal with people still would not help who she is. She is who she is. Who is to say that she didn't get all the behavioral therapy money can buy and was surrounded by great individuals who taught her valuable skills. Some things are just the way they are despite the efforts of people that work endlessly to make it not so.
If this was a man trust me y’all reactions would be different
