The freelance business is huge and you can make significant money if you have what it takes. You have to be really good and know what you are doing very well.
Basic Design Principles course is a great idea. I naturally think in a technical and math oriented manner. I love writing code for functionality. When it comes to designing, I have zero ideas other than being glad that the "20 second glitzy Adobe Flash intro" era is long over. A course on design for those of us who love the algorithms but are confused by visual design would be welcome.
I like the Wordpress plumbing analogy!! Fantastic! I'm in Stefan's online course and have finished HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Now in PHP, and he is so right that slowly the pieces start connecting. I equate this to music theory. A lot of people can play music and songs without knowing the theory but the theory makes you more well rounded with a deeper understanding as to what is going on under the surface.
You made me thinking that there is another carrier path, aside developer and management - consultant. And business opportunity - helping people choose the right site builder, or in case they need an app, build it for them
I'd buy that "Basic Design Course" if you ever made one, Stef. Design is something I've always struggled with. And templates are good to get an idea from, but they usually have to be reconfigured to match the data of whatever site I'm building.
just read that free book on csharpcourseonline.com ( not sure about the name, search google) . if you're familiar with programming that'll do for you. It's actually even better for alredy programmers since it highlights the differences between c# and java/javascript/f#/... and sometimes their similarities. if you have some knowledge and alredy know about ant language (specially c family) go for it.
Your videos really helped me chose WP to be my niche. For that I am really grateful. My challenge right now is that I am pretty bad at designing. Is there any freelance work I can do with WP with little to no work in designing? Again thanks for your Vids!
I see a lot of *anti-WP snobs* in the comment section, but put yourself in the shoes of a small business. They have no in-house high-falutin' web developer nor do they have the budget to hire one. They want a cheap, decent-looking website without bells or whistles that they can maintain and update easily *without knowing anything* about PHP, CSS, HTML, JAVA THE HUT or whatever. Well, guess what, WP offers them that option. Is it an award-winning website? No. Does it have custom-coded parallax infected super duper slider that morphs into video on the fly blah blah blah? No. They just want to showcase a few images, display a logo and contact number and have a clear call to action. So quit hating on WP, ffs.
Hi stefan I just wanted to ask when I am working with a client and the client asks for a Pacific design or they want there website looking a certain way what can I use to make that design how the client wants his/her website to look? I know as a frontend developer we use templates and implementation we’re not designers Thank you
Thanks Stefan. I have a question. Do we need to be a good competitive programmer to become a great developer? Because you know they solve problems just like piece of cake.
@@munembre7526 clients will shoulder the cost of Webflow hosting, anyway. It's an all-in-one solution so even if it's (marginally) costlier than WordPress, it'll save me a lot of time. 😁
@Peter Mortensen hi Peter. Webflow just feels more efficient and coherent. Plus it's so easy to customize the blog page compared to going through hoops with Wordpress.
@@tim_t ever heard of pinegrow? It's basically the same thing as Webflow but offers integration with WordPress. I'm not sponsored by them, I just like it very much and use it myself. pinegrow.com/
@@StefanMischook Thanks.. As I am having 5 yrs exp as a computer teacher software development ,thinking to move in digital marketing, and I have finished google certification in digital marketing.... What do you say about changing from software to digital marketing?
I am currently setting up my WP business right now. Stefan has been a great motivator.
how's it going so far?

I was very sick for last two weeks.I didnt watch previous videos. Nice to watch stef sirs video again.

"get the hell off of ruby!" XD XD
A portfolio is the key, deployed real world projects help the most doesn't matter the language you want to freelance or the platform.
Yes please do a design course!!! Im taking your courses now and a design template would be fantastic.
I just saw this video and it's still helpful..
Hi Stef, please create the basic design principles course, I'm definitely interested!
try creating your own WP theme (as WP specialists advice to start with it)

As shown in your pinned tweet, I’d buy your C# course if you can make one. There’s no decent C# tutorial on the internet as we speak.

That ruby joke had me dying with laughter

Yes! Please make a WordPress course!
I would be interested in design principles. Want to make this transition too but not too good at the design/styling.

Pretty cool soundtrack!
U got a like for that Ruby joke.
Is it possible to freelance with only VBA?
Did you play your drums 🥁 for the soundtrack?
I did in other videos.
will you build a course on how to set up an ecommerce site? You do not have it on your site yet.
I had a Paypal based course. But to build ecommerce from scratch can be done in so many ways to today.
I'd buy your basic web design course. Design is the area I feel most doubt.
Thanks for letting me know.
Thanks Stefan. I have a question. Do we need to be a good competitive programmer to become a great developer?
Because you know they solve problems just like piece of cake.
No. Being a good developer has MUUCH more to it than solving programmatic mind benders.
*Sir which to learn, PHP or WordPress ?*
PHP foundations first. Then if you want to do WP freelancing learn that. It can get both done fast.
its a slioed dev environment with php, and now more and more people join in it!
Make a video about C
I quit my goal of becoming a Wordpress developer...
I'm all in on Webflow now. 🤭
U need to pay a lot for that

Hey Stefan how is the career in digital marketing?
It can be profitable ... if done right. Good to know some coding there as well. Although it won't be too important as a digital marketer.
