    This seems interesting. I’ve never played either the Atlanta or Flint. I have just today did a double citadel on the Flijt with a Normandie….ouch! If I ever get flint we’ll see how it goes.

      Atlanta & Flint don't have armour, basically. One well-aimed salvo amidships and they're gone. And don't get me started on large calibre SAP, where previously, overpens could save you sometimes...
      They're really more like very large DDs with lots of guns. Atlanta is a bit more ranged, Flint with the fuel smoke can be more aggressive. Just make sure you dodge always :)

    I like playing Atlanta but feel that Flint (whenever I can get it) will fit my play style better. Thanks for the review so I could confirm that!

    Ive always wanted Atlanta... Flint looks fun to play. Id love to have a map tracing your course in that second battle, lol, you were really doing some manic dodging, and even then, you barely averted death. (Well done btw!!) In another death-related topic, "casually murder" had me LOL-ing!!!🤣

      These things are not easy to play. That already used to be true for Atlanta, and same for Flint. With the emergence of the Italians, these things just get shred to pieces. You barely have more HP than a destroyer, but they can citadel you, and SAP means no more overpens against your flimsy armour.
      I personally slightly prefer Atlanta tbh, faster torps & the extra turret allows for a bit more HE spam (3% fire chance), and I've burned down BBs chasing me. Flint tempts into going more aggressive with the fuel smokes, and more than once I've been hit by a lucky blind salvo and taken out.
      All in all, don't expect to rack up damage or MVP in these things, but just zip around like a maniac. Fun, but certainly not OP.

    Thanks Terry.
    You're certainly more diplomatic than I, because, as an owner of an Atlanta, I can't see the point of buying Flint.
    Anyway, I rarely take American Cruisers to sea these days: I'm too invested in climbing the Italian Tech Tree.
    Maybe someday, when I'm whaling. 🌝

      I have Atlanta as well, and I'm not planning to get Flint. For those who don't have either, it's a valid choice, although these things have been somewhat powercrept by the Italians.

    Please do a "Terrys favourites" series where you play on your personal account with maxed out ships that you like, and explain why they do well if played right.

    Great Content As always! btw, what lines do you recommend grinding for cruisers, bbs, ads, and carriers?

    • @gladr6687
      @gladr6687 2 года назад +1

      BBs, Italians, CVs, British. I’m not a cruiser or dd main so can’t recommend, but from what I’ve heard British dds and American light cruisers are best.

    • @PaulfromChicago
      @PaulfromChicago 2 года назад

      Depends what you like on a DD. Japanese torpedo DDs are fun if you like to torp and die quickly. British DD are good all around. European DD are the most functional.
      American cruisers are good all around cruisers. British CLs are fun if you're aggressive, basically big destroyers. Don't play British CA, they're basically broken.

      I get this question quite a bit, actually. It's not simple to answer. I'm planning to make a dedicated video series about this, actually.

    I don’t understand why they put palm trees on the ship in the special camo
    However this is quite a interesting ship I find the radar better than the sonar so it’s definitely a imposter and with the fuel smoke

      Honestly, that's one reason I make these reviews, to help you make an informed decision. I'm all for supporting the game, if people want to and can spare the cash, but they should know what they're getting :)

    Question for you Terry. Is it possible to have you build it as an AA ship and team up with a Carrier player to see how it differs?

  • @alvinkubicek5092
    @alvinkubicek5092 2 года назад +1

    This is not about the ship but how do you get he kaga carrier

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  2 года назад +2

      Kaga is a relatively old premium ship, so you'll have to keep an eye out for events, crates, shipyards or bundles that occasionally show up.

      Atlanta can be a bit more passive, AA support. Flint works like that too, but allows you to play more of a DD role as well - they were originally built as destroyer leaders, after all.

    What I really don’t understand is why is Flint’s overall AA rating still worse than Atlanta and have less DFAA when she should have traded firepower for more AA

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  2 года назад

      I agree that Flint should have been a bit better on AA. She has traded the two wing turrets (counts as large calibre AA) for additional 40mm Bofors guns (small calibre) - two instead of the turrets, but she should have more overall. With DFAA up, Flint does a total damage of 787, compared to Atlanta's 747 - it's not a big difference. That said, you have to keep it in perspective - that's a T7 cruiser, and that is already a pretty devastating amount of AA for that tier.

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  2 года назад

      SAP has been a game-changer in the meta against low-armour ships, especially ultra-light cruisers. You could previously somewhat rely on overpenetrations against large calibre AP, unless they hit the citadel section, but with SAP, that's no longer the case, and it will absolutely brutalise these classes of ships. Same with destroyers, but with the additional issue that SAP does _more_ damage than AP, and can citadel you here. Anything Italian, I run.

    • @FunandGameswithTerry
      @FunandGameswithTerry  2 года назад

      Atlanta is the earlier version, where they didn't have much besides the dual-purpose guns. Flint trades the two wing turrets for extra 40mm Bofors, so that's pretty accurate, actually. The AA isn't bad on these, and it's still T7. But I agree that if you already have one, you probably don't need another :)
