    I thought this was an excellent review. Yeah, the IMALENT SR32 is massive, though not as cumbersome as the IMALENT MS18 (I have both). You’re right that quick access to the lowest power isn’t necessary on a flashlight this big. I tested this flashlight at the railroad tracks to see the long throw. A humid summer night does make atmospherics (and insects) a glare issue. However in a real “search & rescue” application, you’ll have additional spotters off to the sides or forward of the light source, and likely a drone or two moving above the search area. These are usually team efforts where a number of searchers are away from the direct glare. - This is one of the most honest reviews I’ve seen and I really enjoyed your discussion and opinions. ❤

    I picked up at first the X75 . I would have to say I like the SR16 through much better because of the way the light is presented. I’m returning my X 75. I’m waiting to receive my WUBIN A1 which is a little bit pricey, but is the best thrower in my opinion. I thought your production was fantastic and spot on. Thanks again for helping all of us. Make our very expensive decisions. Cheers.

    Curious what torch do you use as your main go to one, to check out what's happening around the local area of the farm?
    Curious how the step downs compare between sr 16, and x75, ie which gives the best field of view for the longest time, if you noticed.
    Also As you mentioned with the foreground flare, does the sr16 actually allow "you" to see any further than the x75, when hand held. Debating if worth upgrading for the extra range, or not.
    Hope all that rain you were getting while trying to get footage, has cleared up now.

      I would recommend checking out the graphs on the 1Lumen website for how long each lasts.
      The SR16 kicks the X75's butt when it comes to throw, much better on every level. I've found though that any floody beam is going to have the same effect to your vision, the only way to avoid it is to buy something like the Imalent MR90 that has spot and flood channels. Need to see the full range? then you can only switch on the spot beam. www.imalentstore.com/products/imalent-mr90-50000-lumen-flashlight?ref=ptd (Coupon: PTD10)
      I have the Wurkkos TS32 dual channel model and even with only 9,000 flood lumens, it reduces the spot brightness by half when you have both on.
      My recommendation would be the SR16. It's better for portability, price, range is more than enough. Negative points would be just the cool white tint and a DC port instead of USB C

      @@PiercingTheDarkness Hard choice, but in the end i decided that, since i have the x75 already, i might as well go the whole hog, and so just bought the sr32(via link) as it's what i really wanted, now the led issue is hopefully fixed, despite the $1100 price (NZ). 🤪

    • @PiercingTheDarkness

      @@Retiredkiwi ah, that was you! I suppose you want that money now lol. It is a very fun torch to use, I personally just don't enjoy the weight of it. That's the best thing about the X75 is having the large fan inside, this reduces the need to have all the mass in the head for heatsinking. You'll probably want to sell the X75 now, I doubt you'll ever use it once the SR32 arrives. I'm not sure if NZ Post sent you an email, but I've packaged the X75 and it's being picked up on Monday. Thank you

    • @Retiredkiwi
      @Retiredkiwi Год назад +3

      @@PiercingTheDarkness not seen anything yet, but will watch out for it coming home around mid week.
      Yes may sell x75 on, once it gets here, but then again, having both will give me the choice between lots of mid range spread if that's all i need, as opposed to lots more range as well, but with the huge weight penalty, (as though i didn't have enough others already, to make choosing hard).
      Been using the cransky HS6R headlamp a lot lately, while doing some work in the roof, finding it really great with both beams 1 step down from max, lasts well, and not getting too hot, despite using non stop 2+ batteries.
      Great to hear you you knew someone bought, and get your well earned commission.

    Amazing video! Thank you for all the work you put into this. I have the SR32 & X75 and after taking a bunch of still shots at different locations I honestly can't see a real difference. Is it due to the camera adjusting, the glare back factor you talked about, or maybe even exaggerated lumen claims on the SR32? Does the X75 possibly just work better with the human eye due to the glare back effect? The drone shots do look better for the SR32 but could that be due to any slight angle irregularities when holding the SR32? I guess I'm just a little skeptical about the 120,000 lumen claim after comparing the pictures I've taken. Have we gotten to the point where 120,000 lumens is impractical for just personal use? Feedback would be greatly appreciated!

    • @PiercingTheDarkness
      @PiercingTheDarkness  9 месяцев назад +2

      1Lumen tested the SR32 to be closer to 100K. It's still throwing much further than the X75 though, as you can see in the footage.
      You can't use auto camera settings, otherwise it'll auto adjust so the immediate area isn't overexposed. You must you manual settings and find out what looks accurate, then use the same settings for each. You'll see a large difference between the two lights.
      I enjoy flashlights with a tighter beam for throwers, the SR32 is a bit useless on that front when you can't see much of the range. As someone pointed out, even though the user is limited in what they can see, it's still very useful for SAR providing good light to those closer to the area .

    • @asmokindeal
      @asmokindeal 9 месяцев назад

      Awesome, makes sense, thank you.. The camera adjusting never occured to me.
      I also noticed if I hold the flashlight lower, I don't get as much glare.
      Thanks again for all the time and energy you put into this video. It really is pretty amazing.

    • @PiercingTheDarkness
      @PiercingTheDarkness  Год назад +1

      What I enjoy is really focusing on the night footage since there's no other channel that puts as much effort into it. Flashaholic does an excellent job, but I enjoy using photos alongside the video and including the drone.
      I don't really care about lumens too much, I care more about the range/candela. Unless, they can't sustain their output and drop to a very low level. Not really required when 1Lumen has all the lumen measurements already.
