Yes -- But there is even more than that -- If you look closely at the speed reason on the dash cam -- you may see that the failure to slow down when there is opportunity to do so really amounts to contributing to the severity of the damage -- failure to take evasive action -- 'failure to mitigate' -- I suggest that such failure to mitigate may end up costing the dash cam driver large part of his anticipated insurance pay-out.

Imagine. You’re driving, something really extreme happens (in your mind) and you realise, “oh! I have a dashcam! I’ll send it in!” Then you frantically check every episode hoping, praying to see your clip. Just for it to be uploaded on the annual April fools episode.
And that's exactly what makes this video more terrifying than almost any other video. These idiots genuinely believe that they are in the right!
With the state of mind of the people sending these videos in, they wouldn't understand the significance of it being in the April fools edition.

I think most people don't understand that.
So many only look to their right, as they are speeding up to the roundabout, with no way to actually stop if they need to give way to anyone already in the roundabout on their left
What annoys me about roundabouts more is the number of roundabouts that now have plants that don't just hide the indicators of cars coming around, but can hide the entire car coming from the other side.
I'm all for prettier roundabouts, but the taller parts need to be limited to the middle, and only low plants and grasses on the sides.
@tin2001 I think the idea is that if the other side is hidden people will slow down more, but it obviously doesn't work.

My own blackvue dashcam I need to buy a seperate GPS thing for it to get the speed, which I havent done.

I think his point in submitting the video was that they were in the right line and crossed over to the left when exiting instead of staying in the right. Meaning he could make a left turn.

One of my pet peeves - contributors who speed around a corner with low visibility and whine because they need to slow down when it was simply not physically possible for the other vehicle to see them when they began moving.

@@Phil_X what makes it better is this hwy is 80 until literally at the bend it goes up to 100, if you would also like the road name for others as well, it's called Midland hwy, Huntly, it's the main road to Echuca from Bendigo. The hwy is very well know for being incredibly dangerous to drive on a weekend because there are no overtaking lanes until after Rochester

People need to learn the rules of roundabouts. You need to give way to anyone that has ALREADY entered the roundabout and not just barrel through because you’re on their right.

It looked like the SUV was at fault though. At least in NZ the rule is that if any car from your right would cross your path you must give way. Since the SUV couldn't get far enough onto the roundabout in time (because it's doing a standing start while the cam car is already travelling) it should have given way.

exactly. we encounter these mild situations so often as we drive. Imagine getting so angry and upset every time it happens. Smart drivers watch, slow down and avoid getting into these situations, then a minute later you've already forgotten cos it was such an non-event.

I find most drivers don't know the roundabout law. Either they tear into a roundabout, or they wait at the roundabout for those approaching the roundabout from the right. I guess people just don't understand that the upside-down red triangle is a give way sign.

It's amazing how many people do not know roundabout rules. It is not give way to right. It is give way to vehicles on the roundabout.

Also the amount of people who keep the right indicator on when exiting is ridiculous! It seems a lot of people aren't aware that you need to indicate left when exiting.
They could be forgiven, as "give way to the right" is a much more sensible and safe rule than this Australian nonsense of "I beat you to the roundabout by 0.1sec so you have to give way to me".

A big congrats 🏆and a long hand clap to the 4x4 driver for stopping the CC and told her want the rules are for a roundabout!!!!! Far to many people think vehicles on their left have to giveway to them as per all other intersections, but it is not the case at a roundabout. Also, the rules state a vehicle is a approach a roundabout at a speed slow enough for them to stop behind the giveway line if another vehicle is ALREADY in the roundabout from any direction.

I was counting the number of people who had submitted videos of their bad driving. I had got to 9 and 5 examples of bad video making, plus several "nothing happened" videos when I realised it is the April Fools edition.
It was the third one and I thought something was wrong, I must have played that five times trying to figure out what was the problem and thought hang on...
The amount of "i'm right screw you' on the roads is genuinely concerning, though.
The amount of clips with people flying into roundabouts and yelling at cars ahead of them who entered before they did is not surprising at all, I see them every day.

OK, apparently not... I googled it and the rules in Australia are absolutely insane. No system of priority as to who enters the roundabout when (give way to the right as in UK and NZ) - the only rule is that if someone is even 1mm on the roundabout you have to give way to them? Sounds like a recipe for crashes.

Not a Merging Lane..Broken lines mean that vehicle has to give way to his right before entering. If you believe that that is a Merge lane then they would be entitled to change lanes anytime they please on a dual lane road without giving way. Merging lane has no more lines on the road. Could they have let them in? Maybe if you want to be courteous but there are far too many who believe that you have to let them in.
@peters2538 It’s not just a matter of courtesy. Someone who closes the gap and won’t let in a car that’s already ahead of them is an idiot. Having cars almost stopped at the end of their lane isn’t just bad for traffic flow, on a high speed road it’s a serious hazard!

Have a friend sit in a car filming the dashcam screen with their phone, with the dashcam still mounted... And you film them from outside the car. Preferably have the car stereo playing too, and maybe a lawnmower going in the background.

I cannot believe after how many decades we have had roundabouts the number of people who do not know how to use them.
People keep commenting that the rules keep changing, but their wrong. I have been driving for over 40 years and the give way rules have always been give way to vehicles ON the round about. It's always been this.

You were an inexperienced learner driver after all at that time.
