I have some stuff on headlight restoration! Will make them look good as new!
Imagine running into you here.
First rule of owning a clean civic/import , park far from everyone else, people don’t respect vintage culture.
Yep, I replaced my rear bumper/repainted, etc.- it lasted 12 fucking days before someone creased it near the tail-pipe.
@@tommynikon2283 . Yeah because the parts are cheap everyone thinks it's fine to fuck up your bumper. Since you can just go to a scrap yard, but they lack to realise that after a while it takes a shit ton of your time.
Not sure where your from but people aren't that shit at driving in the uk that they would just drive into your car from a parking space lmao, not saying it doesn't happen but usa seems to have an abundance of car crashes
@@MonstaaBoii it’s horrible here, they’ll give out licenses to people with under 70 iq I swear…
In the Netherlands are a lot of jelous people that vandalize Honda's on purpose.
Dude, do a mini series fixing it, i bet it’ll be liked. Keep up the good work
On where
Driving a 92 EG as a daily i could relate when you spot every other car in Florida is a newer make model, I enjoy driving it though it's getting rarer on the roads to see another EG
egs will always be my fav there so hard to find in good shape in canada and at a decent price lmao
@@dyllenger I bet bro!
I have a near mint 92 VX hatch and have the same alienated feeling. But I do get respect from people who understand these cars. It is unreal to believe the car will be 30 years old next year (91 year built.) It still drives like a clock at 230k. Honda totally overengineered these generation cars.
2 years later still accurate.
These cars never get old
God I miss my Civic. My last daily was a 99 Civic all stock, I did change out the exhaust and wheels but in the end the engine died on me. I put down $1,500 on a "newer" car from a dealership. And I sold it for cheap. I regret it so much. I should have used that money to replace the engine. But I'm not known for thinking before acting so I have regret after regret on lots of cars I owned in the past. But I plan to get myself another Civic in the near future. Oh and when I do I'd be my 6th Civic
Did ye get your civic mate?
Yeah did you get it?
90s Cars FTW!!!!
One small thing that made my ek look nice is unbolting the wipers and repainting them. They always fade to bare metal and repainting them is super easy and makes a surprising difference!
The integra 94-01 visors fit the EK. I just bought two for $10 bucks at the junkyard. Nice EK!😎
I got a 96 ek hatch that i daily drive and i love it. Same stock engine. Did a few tweaks like a cold air intake but no power steering and no ac but i still love it. My wife has a 2018 chevy trax and when we go out together i would always choose my car over hers. You hit the nail on the head when you said its a fun car to drive. 167k miles and still going strong!
Good Civics will get very hard to find...
Naw not really, being the fact that as long as it has no rust you can pretty much fully restore one. They made a shit ton. Sadly, the good manuals will be hard to find, because unlike the automatics the manuals have been literally murdered. Again though, restoring one is still pretty cheap
:)
Maintain it before the price for parts go up. Definitely one of the best daily's ever made.
i love the classic ek interior. it may look a bit dated but it still looks good to me
i'm still driving my 98 EK civic since high school. It's a keeper; gonna fix it up one of these days :)
Sell it to me! I had a red one exactly like yours back in high school with a b18c1 with working AC and everything. She was mint. Not a day goes by that I don't miss that car. Maybe one day I'll find another clean red EK hatch.
What happened to it?
No car payments, smart man!
Lol I'm a die hard muscle car guy who always believed "there's no replacement for displacement" but I absolutely love owning a now classic Honda Civic (93 ex coupe with a sunroof, 5 speed manual and highly riced lol) eventually it'll get body work, exhaust work and a boatload of suspension mods I'm gonna try to make it the best handling car I'll ever own
I drive a Ek 1.5 vtec-e (d15z6 engine) and i really love the feeling of the car, love that 90s feeling
I'M GOING ON 2O YEARS WITH MY 2OOO CIVIC EX COUPE 5 SPEED MANUAL STICK SHIFT ALL MY FRIENDS KNOW THAT'S MY CAR COMING FROM OVER 7 MILES AWAY I'M AT 246,OOO.O7 MILES AND STILL ALIVE AND RUNNING I DON'T IMAGINE MYSELF IN A BRAND NEW CAR YET OR AT ALL THE MEMORIES AND STORIES THIS CAR HAS I HAVE SO MANY TEENAGERS ASKING IF I $ELL IT I SAY SORRY MAN NOPE
I have a 90hp EJ9 (european version). Its my frist car and quite old compared to usual traffic. Im extremly happy daily driving it. Friends at school and random people give me compliments all the time, because they know it only from movies or they remember it from back then. I hope I can make it clean again and put some nice wheels on it. The only bad thing is the fuel milage though. But nice video!
Yeah I also bought the EJ9 as my first car and it's a really good daily driver. My fuel gauge is not showing correctly so I'm not sure about the gas mileage. Definitely needs some love, as the red paint is fading. I'm so happy I bought a Honda and not a VW or a Skoda as everybody here.
This video got me taking a second look at ek hatches now and I’m an all out 100% eg fan!! But that rear bumper would bug the hell out of me lol
The rear makes it look like a egg. I don't like the tail lights
Lol I like these hatches there like little pods driving down the road
Agreed, but with the right wheels and suspension I guess any car can look good lol
I had a 98 Hatch DX in the same red. Bought it with 165,000 on the clock, owned by a lady who drove it 90mi for commuting. Ran flawlessly. Wasn't fast but it definitely was zippy. I sold it only because it was an automatic and I wanted manual, but damn do I absolutely miss this car above all others I've owned. Super practical, good looking, super economical, and super reliable. Keep this car until the wheels fall off man, you won't regret it.
I know you probably want to keep the exhaust stock and quiet being a daily and all. However, I had the yonaka catback on my civic and it was great. Very affordable, very quiet, no drone, and great sound.
It's just a good peice of mind having a brand new exhaust on a car. Every car I've owned had the exhaust fall off and it was a breath of fresh air when I installed it.
This car never ages
The only thing I need in a daily is good A/C, Bluetooth, and power steering. My 97 cx hatchback had none of those so now I daily a 2001 tacoma and the hatch is my project car. I do miss driving the hatch, everytime I drove it I was having a fun time
Imagine driving these when they were brand new off the lot.time fly’s but the car is timeless.
I also own a Civic ‘99 and use it as a daily vehicle. This summer I used it on a roadtrip and drove about 4k kilometres. The reliability is amazing, during the trip it kept on driving with zero problems. I own it for 3 years now and paid around €400 total in maintainance!
I take pride in driving older cars, means they are well taken care of and loved by someone
Nice. I noticed you did not mention anything about how it smells lol. I have a 1996. Still running it lol. But could you believe that in the last three years I replaced many parts that went bad and mechanic told me that they were all original parts from the year 1996 and we are now in 2023. I cannot believe these Honda parts could last for soooooooo many years. I am amazed!
Me and my older brother bought a 5 speed 2000 EK hatch from an old lady who traded it in for a Honda Fit. All stock with a rare factory option CD player with only 156K miles and the interior was in mint condition. Maintenance was up to date with 5 pages of maintenance records in carfax. People love it all the time and so as myself and fun fact the old lady who bought it new was born from 1945.
10-15-2020: I bought a '99 EK/Ex a month ago, w/ 110k original; no mods, one owner. Mint interior, scratchy exterior, $2200. It loves third, I feel VTEC is over-rated (5600rpm), and I wish it had the 160hp (Si) instead of the 126hp engine. Sips on fuel, zippy, loves to carve corners, and the moonroof is more practical than past convertibles I've owned. I'm 64......this rig is fun!
6:08 summed up stock EK seats haha, might be some of the worst Honda seats for hard aggressive driving, daily they’re fine though
I just switched from ek to del sol seats in my EG and god damn what a difference
joey s hell yeah, love those seats! Perfect for EGs
@@joey9511 had leather teg seats in my eg driver seat has bolster adjustment and lumbar there comfy as hell and still kinda sporty , i feel like delso seats would hold u better tho but i liked the leather look ... made it feel a little more luxury lmao
Em1 seats in my 97 dx hatch
Civic D series, is like the perfect daily!!
I got mine for $500, same thing just silver. Very few issues over the years I've had her. She has a habbit of only breaking down once I'm in my driveway, which I appreciate. AC blows cold, heater keeps me warm in the worst NY winter nights. And I only pay $15 in gas every week- with lots of driving! Every girl I know my age has went thru 2 or more newer cars in the span I've had my car. She's taught me a lot and I hope I'll know enough about mechanical work to really fix her up the way she deserves one day ;;u;;
Do some small things to keep your daily going. We will still watch.
I have a 1993 eg hatchback Si with 310k miles. Great car love the old smell inside but I’m tired of the low power so I’m doing a Type R swap.
Dang some off these are beasts! I just got a European civic from 2001. She has 179000 km. Thats 111225 that quit far off of yours. Hope she will hold a couple years more
EK makes the perfect daily IMO, super cheap and reliable but still fun to drive whilst being comfortable enough. In the UK everyone has new cars, mainly boring small diesel engines too
Do you even fit in an EK? I feel like your arm would take up a seat lol.
Come on bro. You could fix all that for less than 300 bucks. You just didn’t...
Ryan Harrison I know right😂
BYB FINEST lol. Idk know how your Honda Community is but where I live I could get a bumper and taillight for prolly 50 buck.
@@stylepoint1200 yeah stolen shit lol
Through out the entire video I found it funny that he was complaining about stuff like this that could have been easily avoidable. The paint, easily could've been kept in great condition if he would've put a cover over his car. The bumper, park away from everyone else. I thought this was common knowledge for people who like cars and own a nice one. The interior, could've been restored so easily it almost makes me mad. The parts are so insanely cheap and you could buy some better ones if you save a bit. The verdict, If you live in a popular state in the US Honda culture will be great and you will be able to solve all the issues in this video easily or better yet prevented them. If you want to get an Ek civic this video will not change your mind at all.
@@stylepoint1200 I don't know where you live, but in my country they would say you need to fix every single thing and would pay probably 10000$ min.
Most important bro.your car your rule! We are Honda enthusiast! 😊
I love my ek. Im replacing all the front end suspension. Its guna be even better. Ya low life makes the bithole pucker when i see a pot hole but you shouldn't hot them anyway.
Love the new stickers. Went and grabbed one right away!!!... 😃👌
I've been able to get 40.1 MPG on my Y7 in the middle of a Florida winter, no AC and highway (not expressway) driving. 32-33MPG in summer with AC. 160K miles.
My favourite car of all time!
I daily a 99 ek hatch I love it still! There no other car I like more yet for daily lol. I considered the new civic hatchback with the 1.5 turbo, until I learned of the oil dilution issues.
It is old but will never fade as all time favorite. Just need a fresh paint and it will look new.
Straight up, that is a fine EK. There is nothing like it. I used to have a clean little 1998 hatch w/ a B18C1 when I was in the army. Every day I regret selling it. Now it's gone forever :(
Got a new subbie! Amazing content bro...so true, its about priorities! A++
I drove one everyday. Of course it was 18 years ago. But it was fun. Going to buy another one soon.
Chilliest dude around! All your reasons match up for mine! I’m possibly thinking of getting a ST but I’d rather lower my car and put money into it to make the civic better
use clear coat after headlight restoration
If you have a daily, you're in a good place. I'm fortunate to have my amazing 95 Accord with 377k. Like yours A/C is cold and It's good on gas, what else can you ask for?
I used to daily drive my del sol, then I finally got my dream car(nissan 350z) I also daily drove a 1989 ford festiva, loved that car so much. So quirky and weird.
The answer to this video is hell 👍 yeah I have 95 honda civic ex coap.with a singlecam automatic with a 75shot dry with 05 k24s2 tsx injectors my daily singlecam vteck is awsome its perfect for a daily I have 2000 ek hatch too but thats k series with itbs but my daily is singlcam vteck I get looks sometimes from different people but I keep it alive 😎🚘🏁🔰👌
I've got the same one. It's a manual. I can rev it to 6 grand before shifting gears. ⚙ It sounds good with my aftermarket exhaust on it and it goes like a go cart haha
im in florida trying to get back into an EK or integra but i can't find anything for sale. I check craigslist every day.
Super pumped on this one! I’ve been wanting to see more content on the hatch!
I love how EKs looks
My 2000 EK coupe daily beater has very similar wear in the interior as yours especially the sun visors and the headliner. Did your door card plastics crack too? The 2000 integra I have is far better built and seems to take abuse better, but given the price point when they were new, it makes sense. Though the EG's I've been in seem more solid than the EKs too.
Your car sounds exactly like mine and I have the same issue with the trunk. One time I trusted it to stay up and boom that thing came down and smacked my back . My hatch still runs like a champ has ac, ps, and bluetooth. I also live in Florida and the sun has been brutal to my car too, especially since I don't have a garage. After 8 years of owning this car i still wouldn't give it up
Great video brother. We are on the same road with no problem driving older vehicles 😆. I've always like the 90's honda hatchbacks but man they are getting super hard to find within a decent condition. Great little car👍.
Dude it still looks great for 20 years old. I have two 88 CRXs and one of them still looks better then it did from when it came out of the showroom floor. Once ago my CRX Si came out with the D16Y engine and now its twice the power twice the suspension and braking. No comparison to newer ones. Oh wait there are no new CRX or Hatchbacks. See what I mean? Just needs some Refreshing of paint and thats it. My Other CRX 88 is my daily and I just installed the hard to find AC in it.
I daily a 91 CRX hf
new seats, new carpet, new paint pull dash out and clean inside and behind and just like that nice and clean that rivals any new car
give it to bodevision for a respray bru
Real talk, put a heat gun (or a blow dryer) to that bumper and push that dent out grab like a oven mitten or something. And if you cant get to it with your hand, use the blunt end of a screwdriver or something to push. DON'T AIM IT IN ONE SPOT, but use circles. Heat the inside of it too. It shouldnt take too much time cause the bumper is plastic
Nice looking EJ. Wish I still had mine.
nothing wrong with an older car. Both mine are '97 and I'm fine with it. No car payments, cheaper car insurance and they both get a lot of attention
I got and 98 Civic lx, . Dude your car is great.
Do a video series of restoring the smaller easy to fix stuff. Freshen it up with out spending too much money.
the car I want as a race car is the back seat car in this guys garage damn
i have a hard time choosing a car to buy when i get my driving licence. My choices are a Toyota Paseo 1996 and up, a Honda Civic EK or a Daihatsu Cuore 1998-2003 i like them all but its hard choosing. The EK and Cuore require a engine swap to be a little faster, the paseo only requires some modification to the engine and a turbo
You should just keep your eye out for a hatch at the junkyard. I got a replacement for my ek for like 30 bucks and it was even in the right color.
My hood and windshield wipers are the same! i changed the housings because its important to see at night eh
My older 1992 Honda Civic DX.....built well the interior is superior to any new in quality😁 The hood on it has the same paint scaling that yours has...thinking of putting a decal racing stripe😀
I got a CX and am jealous of you power steering snobs.
Love the 'Patina' !
I got a ticket in a bone stock 2000 EK hatch that I had removed the muffler from. Apparently it was too loud, which was a joke. Keep that thing stock!
I bought mine from my bf. I love it. I am beginner, and I bought the car at the beginning of the year to learn to drive. Unfortunately I crashed it two weeks ago. My boyfriend fixed some things, but it looks poor. :( Great car, silent, fast, and very reliable. When I was younger, I thought that this model looks bad, but now I like it. I hope eco-fascist won't ban old cars. My paint is bad too! xD The paint is now worse, because of staying in the sun. Your seats look good. In Europe if you change fucking seats, you'll pay a fine. They make up stupid rules just to get your money. My cars is also low. Every time I go over a speed bump, I make a grimace, because my exhaust is scratching
This was my first car loved it so much
Just saw your headliner replacement and thought let's watch the serie. Man your dashboard looks so nice and clean for such an old car. Was that replaced orso?
Super sweet I have the same color and style also in Florida daily, well the weekend’s. What wheel setup you have
3M 39173 HEADLIGHT CLEAR COAT UV PROTECTION WORKS BEST. IF you apply it after you clear your headlamps.
Does yours also have leaks in the roof? I got mine almost 2 months ago and 2 weeks ago rain season kinda starts. Pooring Caribbean rain, it wasn't holding well. Seems got 2 leaks. I've sent on checking some RUclips vids and found small creaks of the seam sealer. Tried silicon today, used clear silicone and hopes it works. I also think it leaks at the attenna at the back. But for that I need to striptthe complete hood. All the panels need to go out in order to get out the pillar covers. It's not as easy as in your video. So I'm think of using silicon around the antenna. I think I'm gonna mask everything off so I can lay a super thin bead around it
What suspension set up are you running on your hatch because I’m looking for a good daily set up for my hatch and some coil overs that won’t break the bank any feedback would be awesome and keep up the good content
'It sucks, but it's fine'
I like that
got a hit in run in my ek hatch, its all bad just gonna have to buy a clean one again!
Nice. I daily drive a 1991 Civic DX over 100 miles a day.
gotta give love to it ... she's been a good girl to you ...
I love driving my 98 integra- something more basic and more natural than these new nanny cars
single cam is coo saves gas reliable
94 eg hatch b18 swap thats the way to go engine swap, k series is dope but i like it stock in 06 FG2K20Z3 lsd yeee 😈
Blessed thank you Mr.Honda
As long the a/c is still working its a fine daily! Just need to get rid of old car smell
just gotta seal the headlight with wax or clear coat. I think ceramic coat would be a fantastic option now days.
What's like driving a EK hatch? Well.....known it will get jacked everytime you take it out to the store or anywhere. Paranoid.
On god
Tbh, imagine those who can’t afford a car, not to come at you, but man nothing wrong with having an older car as well.
Great video man!! Really helpful
Hahaha on video the exhaust sound was kinda sporty. Didn't sound bad and fits the look. I bet it makes people head turn. Ps how do you pass car checkups like that?
Moving to Florida in 6 weeks, I’d happily buy that off you ;) jk don’t sell it, I regret all the Honda’s I’ve sold.
Mind saying where you’re from? I’ll be living just outside Orlando and would love to chill with you guys after this whole Covid situation. What tracks are in your area?
Sand your head lights then clear coat them do like a 380 grit then 600 then 1200 and finish it with a 2000 grit then clear coat the head lights
Try nano coat on the headlights
I love the ek so much🤟😍
I have the same car and I love it..and I daily it
