Kevin Strother is the engineer who invented the two track can system and probably one of if not the greatest engineers in the archery industry. He burned a lot of bridges though. Kevin at one time led the engineering at bowtech, Elite, Obsession, and even produced his own brand of two track cam system bows called Strothers Archery which is now called Moxie Archery. I'm not sure who acquired strothers and renamed it to Moxie Archery. I believe they are out of Texas now. The price range for the E35 in the states typically run around $750 to $850 and around $950 for target colors. While the draw on the E35 is very smooth and solid. Its about 90% let off. You can adjust the draw stops forward and it will give you about 70\75% let off. The limbs are also a solid limb composite. I'm pretty sure they are made by Gordon Glass. Elite is now owned by The Outdoor Group (TOG) out of New York. If there is cam lean you can adjust the cable guard in or out. But cam lean is not critical on Elite Bows.

For hunters trying to broad head tune: One thing to add about tuning this bow is once you have timed the cams, you can adjust the cable guard tension if your broad heads are right or left of field points. For minor adjustments you don’t need press. You just loosen set screw and spin the arm into or away from cables until the groups come together. I was skeptical when I first heard this but it does work.
    ...And great review. Thanks.

Best reviews on you tube period. Honest and in depth.

Steven, I like your video. It's honest and down to the point. I can u understand that in Austrailia, it may be rare to see an Elite bow. That Energy35 is actually a 2014 model. You can tell by the narrow limb pockets and the string stop dampener. The valley is extremely pronounce in all elites. Check to make sure the limb stops are all the way out because they are adjustable for different let off weights. Cheers mate.

Yet another honest no-nonsense review, Steven. Elite bows are unique & have a distinct place in the market. Those features that Kevin Strother designed have endured. Their nice looking new target model, the "Echelon" , just launched, should be a beauty & have the dedicated Elite faithful archers drooling. I know of 2 arriving here in Adelaide over the next week, so will certainly be worthy of a good look at.

Good to see you give an impartial review to a brand that you don't stock but have in store as a trade.
Just to clarify, the slaved cam system was designed to eliminate vertical nock travel & cam timing issues not lean ;)
A bow with either or both of these issues can still shoot great as long as it is repeatable. The less of both of these issues the bow has however, the more forgiving it will be when it comes to arrow spine & tuning.
The other issue that cam lean can cause is premature wear on the string where it first makes contact with the cam as the cam can begin to chew out the serving on shot.
I own a Barnsdale Addiction ST which is a slaved cam 3 track cable shoot through that is based on an Elite tour riser.
Think Martin shoot through but instead of a dual cam it's slaved.
Most forgiving setup I have ever owned for tuning or changing arrows.

Thanks - some Hoyt shooters don't like my reviews. But that is fine.

Hahaha my partner is a Hoyt shooter & se doesn't seem to have a problem with your reviews.
Different strokes for different folks. It comes to price point, what fits & what resale you can get.
Eventually you shoot long enough to know what you want, need & what you can be flexible with & you end up with the right bow for you or at least the closest thing that actually exists. ;)

Hi Steven! Your reviews are really golden. I'm from Finland and follow your channel closely. Here we have only a couple of pro shops. Market is so small here that they stock only a few models and even the ones they stock you cannot test shoot. So really appreciate you and others who do quality reviews on RUclips, because us here we have to buy stuff almost blind.
Now you said Hoyt not having a lower price point target bows but actually I have been looking at the new Hoyt Double XL for 2018 that they added to their target lineup. Here it's under the magic 1000 EUR. Any chance of you doing a review for that?

Love your reviews Steven! Looking forward to seeing what you think about the 2018 Martin Bows whenever you get them in your shop. They just uploaded the new models to their website. Thanks again for another great review!

Good luck with elite customer service. Took me a whole week to get a hold of someone just to ask four questions about 2016 energy bow then he sounded like he dint want answer my questions.

Thanks for the great reviews. I have one of these bows in Ninja Black. Would this be a suitable for Target and Fita type competition?

Absolutely - people shoot great scores with this bow. Most bows you can shoot great scores with. Some are harder to shoot than others. But this bow I found easy to shoot.

It should have a generous valley with the draw stops all the way out... I'm surprised that you said it doesn't have much of a valley. It also looks like the poundage is dialed down close to the minimum. I can see a gap inside the front of the limb pocket. I used to own an Energy 32 for 4 years.

I kept looking at that long dloop the entire time. lol. I used to have an energy 32. Those bows are capable of huge valleys with very high letoff if you know how to tune it.

Nice Review. I believe elite stopped sourcing the limbs from Barnsdale c. 2014 and make them ‘in house’ now.
Still Gordon glass laminated - 3 ply I think..

Could you do a unboxing and review of an OK Archery Absolute 40, please!!!! I have shot them for many years and by far the best shooting bow I have ever put in my hand. The reason you don't see many people shooting them is they are made to order, super small company, and very expensive. But the double shoot through is amazing. 1 bow for either right hand or left hand. Everything shoots straight down the middle on both horizontal and vertical axis!!! Its amazing!!!!

The finish on elites is 1 million times better than Hoyt. Hoyts finish will wear off after much handling and shooting. I've never seen an elite with grip wear or flaking like I've seen with Hoyt.

I think the name your looking for is Kevin Strother. Bow tech, elite, early strother, K&k, obsession, Stevens. He designed for the all owning 2 of the businesses and bankrupting them. And he outed bowtech of their limb problems which they lied about shit they still have problems with but I digress. He is one of the greatest minds in archery with Rex darlington, he just can’t run a business. Stevens is out of business and Strother is now moxie great bows and k&K is out of business. Be careful with start up bow company’s they might not be their long.

    • @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale
      @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale  6 лет назад +1

Yes you did well. Moxie looks interesting - I have not heard of them before. Start ups and many big businesses struggle. Kevin worked on more bows - his story would be interesting for sure. Almost a shame he did not work on the Martin bows.

Archery Supplies I just looked and for me it says only available in blackout and it's 999$ It used to be available in there. "rhinodized" finish color options and that brought the MSRP up $150_$200 but it may be totally different for Australia
