I honestly never cared about him during those times. Even when he was stealing legs & choking people with it. I just thought he’d always be a comedic wrestler. I didn’t really care about him in wwe either. But then he returned to TNA/Impact in 2019 & he completely sold me with that new “world class maniac” gimmick & his entrance music & the mask or helmet or whatever he was wearing during his entrance. Not to mention what he’d later do with Violent By Design which would become some of the most entertaining tna stuff in recent years. That’s when I knew that wwe made a mistake & that he is meant to be a huge star. I truly believe that he has one of the best promos in the business, he hasn’t been doing many promos since violent by design broke up but when he was doing them while part of that group I had chills & couldn’t believe that he was that damn good & intimidating too. Him, Bray & Malakai Black were the best promos of that year

I'll never forget how he spoke his mind about his booking to Chris Van Vliet. All this man wanted to do was wrestle and he spent most of his time there sitting on his hands. I respect that in a wrestler when they care more about their job over a paycheck. And the fact that he quickly left WWE on his return once he heard Vince was back was a telling story on how much he disliked that man and wanted nothing to do with him. He killed it as the leader of Violent By Design and it shows how good he can play a heel leader if given a chance in WWE.

Mike Bennett's time in WWE was the # 1 most brutal burial of a wrestler I have ever seen in my 30 + years of watching wrestling. They didn't just job him out, they HUMILIATED him in the worse ways possible (having his wife, Maria, bury the living crap out of him on the mic. And he never had much of a comeback, they pretty much just kept jobbing him while humiliating him). Huge difference between that and his TNA run (he was known as "The Miracle" Mike Bennett in TNA, had a run with the X-Division title and was used very well, even competing for the TNA world title, while his wife honored him by calling him the miracle. Complete opposite of his brutal and humiliating WWE run). Anyway, I would love a Ring of the Hawk episode on Mike Bennett.

Having Sanity lose a 3 on 1 handicap match to the Miz of all people was straight up unforgivable and another example of Vince treating the fans like they're idiots. He really was gonna have us believe that the Miz, who was always seen as an unthreatening and vanilla wrestler win clean over a group of hard-hitting, violent anarchists. It should've been booked to where Sanity flat out destroyed the Miz, and that outcome would've helped everyone involved: established Sanity as a legit threat, build the Miz as an underdog face, and Shane McMahon as a sadistic heel.

Vince did not know how many guys from TNA he was literally sleeping on - EY, Roode, EC3 and so on. Mental.
(For the record: EC3 being mute in WWE made no sense at all given how he would NOT shut up in TNA)

The biggest issue with eric young wwe career is him going to the main roster, anybody during that time would literally be forgotten about once they hit the main roster.

@@acehunter3229Dain was WAY better than Fulton. Better in-ring, more charisma, and the better finisher. I will admit that Fulton did look more in line with Young and Wolfe, but in no way was he better than Dain IMO.

I suspect Eric changed his mind about signing with WWE a second time because of miscommunication. He thought they wanted him to wrestle when they wanted him to be a producer. With all of the former TNA talent working the role already. Bobby Roode is even working with Hayes.

Eric young as an underdog & comedy babyface was the best version. He didn't realize he can't be a heel. That is why no one like him as a heel. He can't sell a ticket.

I remember this being such a frustrating time as an EY fan who really wanted him to do well in the "big leagues". His time with Sanity which included Nikki Cross in NXT was so much better...or perhaps I am remembering it with rose tinted glasses. Needless to say when they first debuted in NXT(a show I watched religiously back then), there was a serious buzz about them, their entrance was unique and different although truth be told a lot of time they were on the losing end of things. Still NXT Sanity was so much better than SmackDown Sanity as can be seen above. Do NXT EY if possible and the compare the two?

Eric Young was wasted in wwe. Yes, he had a decent run in nxt, but as soon as he got to raw he was treated like a bloody jobber. Just like most nxt wrestlers who get call up to the main roster
