In other variations she is said to a black woman and that it wasn't her gaze that turned people into stone. It was her beauty. The snakes are supposed to be locs. She was so stunningly beautiful men and women everywhere that turned to look at her froze like stone. I'm assuming her sisters had the same thing. Shriek could mean that her cries would be so severe it would cause others to feel her pain or she had an exquisite voice that it shocked people. So maybe when they found out that Medusa was killed her cries was emotionally piercing. Thino has brute strength so she's just extremely strong.

Curious where this information came from. Not the fact that Medusa had two sisters, but rather Euryale and Stheno having different powers. Okay, hear me out. Medusa’s story becomes even more intriguing when you think about her connection to her sisters, Stheno and Euryale. Unlike them, Medusa was born mortal and beautiful, while her sisters were immortal Gorgons from the start. So, what if Athena’s curse didn’t fully ‘change’ Medusa but instead revealed a part of her true self that was always connected to her sisters? It’s possible that her Gorgon form was part of her latent nature-like an inherited trait-that Athena’s curse brought to the surface. In a way, it feels like her fate was tied to her genetics and her family, even though she lived as a mortal. This adds a layer of tragedy to her story: was she destined to become a Gorgon because of who her sisters were, or did the gods’ actions force her into that role? Either way, her transformation shows how interconnected she was to her family, even if her path was unique. Thoughts?
Perseus should have merely place the Helm of Hades on, & used their sister’s head to cast them into stone statues. Just imagine this terrifying reality of being physically trapped for all eternity as an immortal. This would be such devastating execution of psychological warfare. It warms my sadistic heart just fantasizing about it.
Medusa was an innocent who was betrayed three separate times. Even when she tried to hide away and mind her business, they still came after her. It is a horrible ending, but she is more known than those who betrayed her.
You have to have actual physical attraction to Medusa to be turned to stone, because it's really about when you have lustful eyes for Medusa. Her stone gaze wouldn't work on me, because my lust already died.

wow amazing something that I have never even heard before @omg thanks for sharing this
Euryale and Stheno...
I've never heard of this ! Nice !
That's a sad fate
@@Wolfyheartz do you have any source for that?
Never ever once have I ever heard her to be black. Her hair were litterally snakes, not weaves or locs. And if her looks were about beauty to stone, no way Aphordite would have let her live for so long.
How would she be black ? This is Greek mythology 😂
Did your grand mother tell you that?
They were a force team ! ... 😊👍

She doesn't have younger sisters, Stheno and Euryale are older than Medusa

Aphrodite did, not Athena. Athena was given the head of Medusa and put it on the shield, referred to as the Aegis.

Medusa is the real hero. The Greek Gods are the real villians.
I’ve always kind of felt that way about it, too. The Greek gods always seemed to hold a grudge against everyone and punished the innocent because of sheer arrogance and jealousy. Especially Zeus who always seduced mortal women by changing himself into a bull or something and then finally appearing to them so he could get laid. 😁😂
@@keithbaucum7156 what exactly Medusa did that would deserve the title of hero? Honest question
@@jessnalulila5552dude you guys really need to read literature instead of asking people to explain it to you,and yes I agree with what this guy said
In the Ovid's Metamorphoses, Minerva punishes Medusa by turning her into a monster because Neptune raped her in Minerva's temple these gods are very petty you punish the victim instead of punishing the one who does the crime same thing happened in the Christian Bible god punish Adam for getting tricked by the devil
@@jessnalulila5552the real myth behind Medusa, is that she was once a priestess of Athena, n was very beautiful. So beautiful in fact that Poseidon god of the sea 🌊 lusted after her n chased her down once, n RAPED HER. Now unfortunately back in the old days in a lot if cultures, it was always the women who got blamed fid being raped n never the men. Basically slut-shaming. So poor Medusa is not only terrorised by a man, she gets shunned by fucking EVERYBODY. She cried out to Athena for help in despair, but the goddess coldly scorned her poor treatment n instead of helping her, she transformed her into something downright diabolical. N with a head of snakes 🐍 instead of hair n petrification powers, this woulda left poor Medusa without a single friend left in all the world. Can you imagine how traumatic n lonely that would’ve been for her? Thats how she’s not truly the villain at all, she was actually the poor victim all along right up until Perseus cut her head off. Thankfully for rape survivors nowadays there’s a lot more help than she got. But for a lot of female rape survivors especially there’s still a whole stupid victim blaming stigmatisation that should never even be allowed to happen. I am an autistic rape survivor n had to face that problem n loneliness all my life. Now I have 3 Medusa feminist empowerment t shirts to make my feelings more clear; that it’s not so much men that I hate; ITS ACTUALLY RAPISTS.. n in my opinion, so should every sane person on the planet 🌍 🤦♀️🫂

I love Medusa. She's a beautiful doll. Mi amor❤
I didn’t know this at all her sisters are in a whole different class by themselves especially since they’re immortal
Yup, had they been there Perseus would not have survived
Perseus put on Hades' helmet, the lord of hell. This originated the phrase "I'm getting the HELL out of here!"
We need a movie!!!!!
“Invisibility helmet”?
Is it on Amazon? 😉
Great capitalization off the legend of medusa
All these years and I'm just now finding out madusa had siblings
where did most of the Medusa & her sisters imagery (artist? vid game? etc) come from for this video? Some of it is awesome !
Mostly Ai generated images
@jessnalulila5552 bummer, hoped was artist I could look up, would love posters of some of the images.
Curious where this information came from. Not the fact that Medusa had two sisters, but rather Euryale and Stheno having different powers. As far as I remember, they all had the same power of their gaze turning people to stone. While Euryale's voice is mentioned, it is only depicted as being unique in sound, not that it caused death. Stheno is in fact the most brutal of the 3 sisters though, as mentioned in the clip.
Perseus knew better to flee than to stick around, lol💀
I want a movie about the gorgons that would be dope
It's Euryale and Stheno not Uirelie and Steno
Would be a Good movie
Beautiful
How did Medusa sisters turned into monsters? Just like someone in the comments said, they wish Medusa and her sisters had a movie to watch. I would watch it too.
Stheno and Euryale were immortal gorgons since birth, also according to the greek writers Hesiod, Pseudo-Apollodorus and Pindar Medusa was a gorgon since birth too
@ thanks. What seen from 📺. Poseidon tried to sleep with Medusa and Athena got mad and turned her into that snake head lady.
Medusa was a virgin Greek priestess. Being raped by the roman soldiers she cursed all men... Don't blame her
@@SkyeSage17 attacked by roman soldiers...
This is getting out of hand
Look at this "horrible" encounter 🙄
Hesiod, Theogony 270 ff (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C8th or C7th B.C.) :
"Poseidon, he of the dark hair, lay with one of these [Medousa (Medusa), one of the Gorgones], in a soft meadow and among spring flowers."
@jessnalulila55
Get ur hand outta ur pocket then. Men hate the truth and then lather it with sweet words. She did not willingly lay with those soldiers. De'greed' Bs
As, everyone knows Romans perverted the whole world. Today they still rape women and say they liked it... Pedos

@@gkriegsman412 how? Like the myth made it clear that Phorcys and Ceto were the parents of the Gorgons and also of the Grey Women who shared one eye between them

I would love to see a movie done on medusa's sisters
I would pay double just to watch a movie with these three sister especially medusa.
The a.i makes them look so gorgeous id tap that xD.
On a serious note this just made me investigate the mythos more.
Thoughts?
Stheno seems to be angry she doesn’t have special powers
Perseus should have merely place the Helm of Hades on, & used their sister’s head to cast them into stone statues. Just imagine this terrifying reality of being physically trapped for all eternity as an immortal. This would be such devastating execution of psychological warfare. It warms my sadistic heart just fantasizing about it.
That's so cool to know.
Medusa was an innocent who was betrayed three separate times. Even when she tried to hide away and mind her business, they still came after her. It is a horrible ending, but she is more known than those who betrayed her.
"More known than those who betrayed her"
Athena is one of the more popular greek deities...
Yo, i was here for Medusa Johansson ❤. Watched it all for barely 2 seconds of her 😂
Awesome.
Crazy thing is, a lot of schools in the U.S haven’t taught us this.
Though her sisters are more powerful than her.. Medusa is more legendary & well known in the history
I want to see a movie with all three in it. it's way overdue
Interesting 😊
Please hw can i download the full movie?
You have to have actual physical attraction to Medusa to be turned to stone, because it's really about when you have lustful eyes for Medusa.
Her stone gaze wouldn't work on me, because my lust already died.
@@alexandervanderwal4070 Medusa was ugly af in Greek Mythology. She had boar tusks, a large mouth, sometimes a beard
The head of the Gorgons were painted in the shields of soldiers to scare their enemies, it had nothing to do with lust

That's sounds like a modern headcanon trying to make her transformation into a feminist symbol
The greek writer Stasinus described the Gorgons as "fearsome monsters"
Stasinus of Cyprus or Hegesias of Aegina, Cypria Fragment 21 (from Herodian, One Peculiar Diction) (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C7th or C6th B.C.) :
"By him [Phorkys (Phorcys)] she [Keto (Ceto)] conceived and bare the Gorgones (Gorgons), fearful monsters who lived in Sarpedon, a rocky island in deep-eddying Okeanos (Oceanus)."
And also Medusa had a consensual relationship with Poseidon
Hesiod, Theogony 270 ff (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C8th or C7th B.C.) :
"Poseidon, he of the dark hair, lay with one of these [Medousa (Medusa), one of the Gorgones], in a soft meadow and among spring flowers."
Her myth is VERY different from what you described
@@alexandervanderwal4070 no, pretty sure that's just a modern invention. In Greek Mythology doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman, look at her eyes and it's over
Medusa Stone vision was actually a gift to protect her if Poseidon come for her again.
We need tv show about them asap
Wow - what a power system
There all beautiful ❤
It's really disgusting that Athena punished Medusa who was an innocent victim of Poseidon's sexual assault/rape, who ended up pregnant from the rape giving "birth" to Pegasus and Chrysaor upon her death.
In other tellings, Medusa's sisters tried to defend her from Athena and suffered part of the same punishment.
