- In this episode as promised, we have got Paulie onboard with a bit of work to his LX Landcruiser, with intentions to get it registered shortly. Can we get it running after sitting dormant for so long?

Bummer it didn't turn over but great to see the LX getting some love.
Great to see another BJ42 being worked on youtube....
A good dose of 50/60 ATF and acetone in each cylinder seems to be the go to fix on other channels. Good luck with this one, id like to see her purr..
First again :-) I wish the weather here was as good as by you down under :-)
Deadly! Used to go to school in one of those as a kid with the neighbours.
Ahhh good to see Paulie boy back on the big screen...bad luck this episode but I have no doubt the old girl will awaken from her slumber in the coming weeks. Best of luck lads and great project. Love this stuff. After all is said & done...she'll be right
Oops now that's a real bastard good luck guys , cheers, shaneo, nelson, nz 🍺👍
Poor old girl, I really like the old Landies, Hard to kill them if maintained.
Of all the cars to put money on starting first time , gotta be a diesel 42 👍
I’ve never beam beat by a B series engine! I bet she would break free with some more effort!
You could try taking the injectors out, and putting a mixture of diesel and WD40 into each cylinder, and wait a few days to see if it'll free up. Nothing to lose.
yeah i paused to look at the comments13:17 after thinking the same....piss weak drops of oil into the glow plug holes, almost a waste of time. oil the cylinders and let the old girl soak
No reason to suppose the bottom end is gone? Put something slippery in the cylinders, leave it for a bit. You gotta fix the clutch, anyway, sooner or later. She'll be right!
well he looks like a classic "not for sale; gonna fix it up one day guy.."
Some atf and kerosene mixed poured into cylinders for week +/- will usually break loose rings. UNLESS its rusted badly then it wouldnt get compression anyway. But yeah i had a kz650 kawa that was siezed this bad. I tried EVERYTHING even pulling the head and hitting pistons with wood dowels. They where siezed solid
ATF down the glow plug holes wouldn't hurt vice grip garage has had success doing that a few times
Marvel oil in the cylinders maybe?
That should read 50/50 of course.
I don’t think it’s a bad thing being seized looks like it’s easy enough to work on.
You can get disheartened when stuff like this happens but I always go well at least when I have had to do a heap of work it’s peace of mind
you need to soak the cylinders with atf and wd 40 then try higher gear say 3 gear first gear is to low to bump start it in
Win some, Lose some. Great effort but. Gave it heaps but she must be locked hard. I thought towing it would free it too.
I have to ask, what is the station wagon in front of the Toyota?
It's an XB Ford Fairmont.
Try checking that the clutch is not stuck to the flywheel. I have seen that happen to old field sat vehicles that might of been flooded. See if there is an inspection plate. might not see it actuate if it has a concentric slave cylinder instead of a hydraulic clutch fork like on the ford trucks.
Use an old paint scraper to loosen from flywheel or other sharpened thin metal stock to separate it from flywheel.
All the wheels turn?
Fill the cylinders with kerosene or transmission oil to soak the cylinders, leave the glow plugs out until you get it to turn. You can blow the oil out later unless it leaks by the rings.
Wet the rockers and valve stems with oil, bump with softface see if they all move not carbon/rust stuck while your waiting for plan DD's
Do a pressure check on radiator see if it holds or if you see air bubbles on the overflow tank.
Check radiator level and drain, put some used antifreeze in it for now.
Do you know someone with a usb borescope camera to stick in the glowplug hole to take a look inside the cylinders? They make some with a remote display 5mm-8mm camera and memory card to hook up to computer also now.

Looking forward to where this goes.
Starter not jammed into flywheel?
Also that throttle cable ball socket was flopping around when it was moved.
I have seen a chap unseize a motor using grease pumped in thru the spark plug hole with the valves shut surprisingly it worked don't ask me what potential damage it can do but it was an interesting idea. But despite the failure it was a great episode!!
God i wish cars didnt rust out so bad here. All those cruisers r piles of dust here in midwest USA
Have you "mates" (I'm a Yank, so hopefully I used the word correctly 😉) watched the video series by your fellow Aussie (from Western Australia), Angry Mack, complete restoration of his Toyota Land Cruiser? ruclips.net/video/MgTi2tDMgF0/видео.html
Bloody lovely old Toyota. They don't make 'em like that any more, all plastic junk these days..
I don't know, but I suspect you knew it was ceased before you made the video...looking forward to the fix. Please don't swap for another motor. Fix this one - pretty please!
We expected some issues, but not this bad. Paulie recalls having turned it years ago, even though it was never started.
@@shellberightgarage It looks like cyl#2 has a water problem judging by the glow plug...I'd hope the ceasing is not due to crank problems and just ("just" so easy to say...) rings ceased on cylinder 2. Regardless, love to see how this evolves.
Sorry can't keep watching this one . I keep thinking my computer is going to crash again . Nice Toyota though .
