  • One of the most inspiring martial artist that was a key force in bringing karate to America was the great Tak Kobuta. He became a pioneer by promoting karate through demonstration after demonstration. He was a teacher of the police and military and inventor of the famous "Kubotan." Kobuta became the biggest advocate for the arts and became one of the most historic figures in martial arts history. #museum

    I went to visit Soke today at a nursing home in Glendale CA. He's 87 now. I'm not sure how much time he has left. He was my first martial arts instructor. It was good to see him but also sad. He was very tired and looked weak. God bless him. He's a legend and one of my hero's!

    Yes... He's my former teacher in childhood sensei master
