A simile compares two UNLIKE things using "as" or "like", so this doesn't really fit the definition. You can use "as" or "like" without the statement being a simile.
@@AdamWebbCSECsir while you CAN use as or like without it being a simile it doesn’t seem like the case here because the action of the grandma is being compared to the action of noah’s wife using as
This one was a little tricky. Even though there is the word "as" as well as a sort of comparison between two people, this doesn't follow the format of a simile. A simile needs to more directly ascribe one particular quality of one thing to another thing. Here, a similarity is highlighted between 2 people but I don't think it qualifies as a simile. Hope this makes sense to you.
@@luv6776 Ok. If I said, "The Boy ran and played, just as his father did", that would be a comparison but not a simile. A simile would be, "The boy was as playful as a rabbit". There are two differences here between the above sentences. First, the simile compares two UNLIKE things. Usually, rabbits and boys aren't considered very similar, but here, they share one similar characteristic of being playful. Since a boy and a man are already very similar, the first sentence wouldn't really be a simile. Also, the simile must make a direct comparison highlighting one or more characteristics shared between two things, such as "A is as strong as B" or "A is wicked like a B". The format of the simile is specific. So in summary, the simile compares 2 unlike things, and the comparison is made in a specific format to highlight specific similarities between the 2 things. Sir, at #27 for Huricane Story there’s a sentence that says “searched the blue skies for a sign as Noah’s wife did”wouldn’t that be a simile?
