A wise old man said that ?
I was about to comment that right now 😂 I’m dying (not from fetty) laughter fortunately
That *shit* had me rollin’ literally.
23:49 "I think you speak in a smart and poetic way." 😂 You're too nice, Tommy G. That man was making no sense.
Connection is the opposite of addiction, I think that's what he was getting at. Feeding an addiction makes the emptiness behind it grow, while connecting with one another and sharing empathy and understanding heals that emptiness. Hopefully that guy gets better soon
Yea I was waiting…and waiting…and waiting on the point 😂

Why don't you move the f outta that dump? Why would you live among such filth?

Seriously. I see so many comments online on social media of people claiming to be from the Bay Area saying “it’s fake, sf isint that bad” nah man. I don’t even go to sf anymore unless I know exactly what I’m doing. I get in and get the fuck out
"one of the best representations" = "it's usually much worse than this"? lol
Appreciate the way you don’t just show a video on the street, but centralize and offer objective reality breaking down common misconceptions. In addition to the real on the street videos and questions that provoke thought vs just content. Keep it up brother
It’s good coverage but “objective” is a bit of a stretch. He always asks loaded questions with a lot of preconceived ideologies that lean towards the views already held by the people he’s interviewing.
@@Alex-co7cq Yeah pretty solid description
the fact that there are cities in this state of destruction and NO ONE is talking about it is absolutely heart breaking oh my god
Its everywhere. Tommy just likes doing this in CA
That "god" of yours and it's followers seems to breed these types of conditions.
people are talking about it..this country just rather ignore it and call it a democrat problem than trying to do something to fix it

There's plenty of people talking about it. There's just more powerful people censoring them and covering it up.

as soon as he said "we need all the mothers to sit down and talk" i was like where's bro going with this 🤣

I genuinely think I understand what he was trying to say, he was trying to say that if we keep going in the direction we are, everyone will be on drugs. And that we need all the loving people of the world (mothers) to come together to create a real solution instead of trying to push these problems away, like we have been doing. It was a wonderful statement from someone who could not speak eloquently

The quality in these short docs are great and someone covering this and just bring it to life make more of difference a lot ppl never seen this or experienced living with this around them
People are tired of being lied too. I hope real truth and transparency begin to be things people chase instead of fame and attention.
As a European I think America went from a place you’d die to visit, to a place you wouldn’t want to step foot in. Sad and worrying

by keeping these things illegal, the people making money off of these things are the worst of the worst, fentanyl dealers who do not care what happens. If it is made legal and more education on what these things are instead of putting this “dark aura” over it, which in itself can attract people in dark places to, that we will be able to stop letting the “underworld win at night”

Tommy G, you’ve matured a lot & your content is much better. You do a good job showing the 2 perspectives out there on this mess. You just show what it is without a major narrative. No matter the stance you have on these societal issues, you’re right on one thing. It’s sad to see fellow human beings & the USA this way.

Good for you brother
I'm a midwest transplant who has lived in SF for the past 10 years. I remain here for my career and for my wife who grew up in a suburb nearby. Great job as always Tommy... few extra things to consider for anyone who cares --
1.) The Tenderloin is by far the worst area and most of the headlines come from here, but it's not just here, SoMa, Nob, and Mission are about 80% as bad. In fairness, outside of those areas, SF is relatively clean. Violent crime is low, but theft and burglaries take place all across the city at a rate similar to Gotham City.
2.) The man at 17:30 saying there is "no place for homeless and sick people to go" -- that is pants on fire false. There are dozens of shelters across the city, most of which are empty, because the homeless would prefer to live on the streets and do drugs in the open. In the shelters they have to remain sober. Your reward? Annual tax hikes to put more funds towards the homeless, which somehow makes things worse.
3.) Politicians are 100% to blame for this problem. Boudin being the biggest component in recent memory. It's sad, but the average SF residents views Boudin (a self proclaimed communist) as "a bit far left" and not a radical ideologue like 99% of Americans would. The fact the city was willing to clean up for CPAC, but makes zero effort to do so regularly, is all you need to know to understand the dynamic of living here.
Read the book "San Fransicko" by Michael Shellenberger. When a single political party or ideology (specifically progressive ideology) has indefinite and unchecked power, this video is exactly what you get. Most people in SF think that a center left wing candidate would destroy the city's foundation more than a 9.5 earthquake.
What’s unfortunate is people won’t read your entire comment. Even tho it sums up the facts, I’ve been born and raised in California. Just outside LA and everything you said is true, but certain groups of people would rather blame it on someone else. All while making the problem worse and enabling it by giving free needles and foil. Tough love is what got me and all my friends who actually got clean and away from the gangs and bullshit. None of this “were here to help”. We got locked up and thrown into isolation so we couldn’t get High, at the time it seemed way too inhumane. Now I’m thankful for it
Actual San Francisco native here and it never ceases to amaze me how desperate you transplants are to adopt right wing talking points to demonize San Francisco. San Francisco's shelters are not empty. That's just a lie. One Google search will tell you the exact opposite. You are also ignoring the fact shelters are not safe for homeless people. You can't bring your stuff in, and what you can is at high risk of being stolen. Sexual assaults and violence are common. Living on the street, particularly in encampments is often safer for people, although obviously not a safe option either. People like you also seem to forget how many of the cities homeless are working jobs or are students. This idea that they're all crazy drug addicts is ridiculous and disrespectful.
Chesa Boudin is not the problem. He got blamed for the entire crime spike post COVID and people ate up the narrative because it was easier to have someone to blame than to look at the root causes of the problem. Crime overall is still significantly lower than it was in the 90s and down slightly from pre pandemic levels. The downtown particularly is struggling for many reasons. The first and most obvious being the fact it has lost its entire financial base. Most San Franciscans rarely went downtown unless it was for work or trip to the mall. The entire neighborhood was supported by wealthy tech and financial workers who all work from home now. All the tech companies we gave tax breaks to turn and ran as soon as it was cheaper for them to do so. Online retail, drop in tourism during and post COVID, and, yes, crime have killed the retail. That being said the Westfield or Macy's didn't close because of crime, they were struggling long before the pandemic.
San Francisco's biggest problem is it's completely unaffordable. We haven't built enough housing. This isn't because of "progressive politics." It's because of wealthy NIMBY liberals who will talk all day about wanting to help the homeless but will block any affordable housing project or shelter trying to be built in their neighborhood. They just don't want their property values to go down or to be around poor people. We also have had an extremely corrupt and mismanaged building department, which again is not corrupt because of "progressive policies." It's just good old fashioned corruption. The likes of which we are seeing with Brooke Jenkins, who it sounds like you would be a fan of. Chesa's recall campaign and her election were all funded by conservative dark money. The EXACT SAME organization that funded this recall is now advocating for NIMBY policies blocking more affordable housing, only worsening SF's housing shortage. Cannot make this shit up.
All this aside, the idea that San Francisco, and the Bay Area as a whole, isn't one of the most beautiful and amazing metropolitan areas in the country is ridiculous. Yes it's struggling post COVID, but these problems were here before COVID, and we are already seeing significant improvements. San Francisco is going to be fine. Stop fear mongering.
@@IEatMyCatch this is real, appreciate you sharing
So do the citizens of San Fran look around during the commute into the city and think "leaders are doing a great job we should just keep reelecting blue no matter who". I'll never understand this phenomena of wanting to keep things status quo despite the obvious results
So much truth in this comment I'm surprised RUclips hasn't suppressed it. You don't help a drug addict get off drugs by giving them clean tools to do more drugs with. That's just a hilarious way of thinking and enabling the bad behavior that got them there. SF also has basically decriminalized open air drug use, car burglaries, and other crimes which would have been enforced by simply not taking the calls or reports due to no physical harm or injury to a person. The wild west has all but returned in SF at the hands of the people who control it.
