Justin, that was very helpful. when Sketchup came out with the Extension Manager I think I sent 3 hours trying to figure out how to load the ruby scripts to Sketchup. At that time in 2016, I was just getting into extension, if I could have watched this video then it would have saved me a lot of time trying to navigate the Extension Manager. thank you for being the subject matter expert over SketchUp. I learn more every time I watch your RUclips videos.
Thanks Jack - I'm really glad when I presented at Basecamp this year, all I had to do was use the extension manager rather than try to explain loading Ruby Scripts ;) !
Justin, I reset my text size and changed the screen resolution and finally got it to where the complete interface fits the screen. Thanks for your help, Allan
Such a helpful tutorial! for anyone else that has this problem - I added in the fredo push pull and lib and enabled both but it wasn't showing up, I found closing and re-opening Sketchup helped so if anyone is struggling that might help!
Hey Justin, Have you done a video on your process for upgrading to the newest version of SketchUp? Along the lines of having to re-install all the extensions and re-setup your settings. I recently came across your channel, great stuff man. Thanks for all that you are doing.
My friend, once more a hidden gem pays off: the downloader tool from Sketchucation is itself nearly worthy of a video tip! No wangling RBZ's when the SKU native manager flubs (which it did, refusing to load this very video's extension!) As always, great work. Just the extension I need to quickly clean up the typically backward imported faces from an imported AutoCAD model I'm rendering. Selection tools was doing a lot of the "same face planes" quick moves, but hopefully this tool will beat it. Thanks and thanks to Didier Burr. I map flip faces to a shortcut on my gaming mouse it's such a common nuisance in SKU. It's esp important for proper rendering to orient them. Get some weird results otherwise. Keep up the great work!
Awesome videos, always helpful! I tried following everything that you recommended but for some reason I am not able to get CutMap to show up in my drop down menu/toolbar. It is "installed" and enabled in the extension manager but I still can't find it...any ideas that might help me resolve this issue? I am trying to break down my designs and get cut lists/shopping lists if you have any recommendations that might make this easier. Thanks for putting out all the great content!
Hi! I am new to SketchUp and am trying to install the JHS powerbar, I installed it through sketchUcation plugin and I enabled it in the extensions manager but when I go to customize my toolbar it doesn't show up anywhere. What am I doing wrong?

Great tutorial (as I come to expect from you) but what about the oldtime way of directly placing the .rb in a folder ? From where I started it was /Plugin, but since 2017 I found the .rb in /Tools ... I ask this since i need a tool that has no rbz. available, just the .rb ...

I'm trying to install ThomThom Cleanup but cant get it to show up in my SketchUp file, even though it says its enabled and successfully installed...
Hey guys I'm trying to install a skelion, a plug in for sketchup but when I try to install in the extension manager I can see the files and folders however none of the files are selectable. Also the skelion loader is an .rb file and not .rbz, is that my problem? if so how to I fix?
It's so hard . It's unbelievable really ,all I'm trying to do is round off a corner and now I'm looking at extensions and it won't load just says it's empty .

Good afternoon, I have SkecthUP Pro but I cant seem to figure out how to install/enable the extentions that I need for my program. I am a small business owner in woodworking here in TX and I've watched a bunch of videos but I can't figure this out. Plus, i noticed that your home SketchUp screen (on your video) looks a lot different then mine. You have a lot of additional buttons than I do and I really thought that when I upgraded to the "Pro" than I would have access to those additonal buttons. Can you please help my out with this?

I have sketchup pro 2016 and both the 3d warehouse and extension warehouse are disabled. I wanted to try another extension and had forgotten how to do it another way which I've done in the past way past my memory retention span apparently. So is there still a way that I can install an extension under those circumstances? Thank you.
I have windows 11 and sketchup 2022. My problem is that when I go to the sketchup extensions warehouse and I try to download any of them I get a window about terms of service and I can't get rid of it and can't download.

Hi Justin, thanks for another great vid. It’s funny that one of your instructional vids appear on another guy’s extension page. I think he liked your vid about his product.
My question is that I noticed that I have a separate "Extensions" menu item with a couple of extensions listed like Weld and Shape Bender. It's sort of like a custom menu, but none of my other extension appear on this menu. Note however all my extensions appear correctly on the right-click toolbar list. Got any idea what this is about.
Those are things that sometimes get added by the extension developer - I'm not aware of a way to change that

hi,Thanks for the info, just wondering as the three extensions i downloaded dont seem to be showing up, I have installed the sketcheducation, and installed extensions. i also enabled and disabled it to see if that shows the tool bar, the extensions are also on unrestricted. I am wondering here in most of the Asian countries the wooden doors and windows are painted wooden color but in the north american countries or most of the European countries doors and windows are painted white, why ? Is there any climatic reason ? Are those white doors and windows are made of wood plank or plastic?
I don't think that's necessarily true. I work on a lot of buildings where wood doors received a stain and remain wood color. A lot of it depends on the application. For commercial construction, I think a lot of the time, the painted doors are hollow metal. For residential construction, I think the wood doors get painted more...

I followed these steps and did all 3 different methods to the T. ROUNDCORNER never showed up. I have a couple other extensions that work, but for some reason FREDO6's Roundcorner app will not show.
Did you install LibFredo?
the extension is still not visible, even if the extension manager says it is enabled
Another helpful video Justin, thanks. I was using Animate by Fredo until recently when the extension required updating. Downloaded a new version of Animate from Fredo 6 but when I enable in Extension Manager and Apply Changes it flips back to disabled. Not sure how to proceed. Any suggestions?
Try it again. And again. Sometimes the extension manager gets a bit glitchy
I can't seem to activate the jhs powerbar which I've already installed. Any advice regarding this? I've already tried right clicking the toolbar and some other ways but it still doesn't pop out.
Did you enable it in the extension manager? Then restart SketchUp? And make sure it stayed enabled when you restarted SketchUp?
I have quite many extensions which needs to be updated. But when i click update, it got errors and not even a single plugin is updated. Anyone getting this problem?

I don't understand what you mean. Registration on both SketchUcation and the SketchUp extension warehouse is free. You need to look for the "sign up free" option on SketchUcation

What do you do when... you've installed SU 2017 and the only extension you see is Shape Bender. You go to extension manager and do everything you've been shown to make extensions appear but they don't. You then go to the extension warehouse, sign-in, and choose a free extension, click download or install, try to click I Accept The Terms but it's greyed out. And then when you go to Sketchup support their reply is We don't support the free versions. Go find your answer in the SU community. My question is, why didn't SU 2017 automatically install everything needed in the beginning?
SketchUp doesn't automatically install extensions...They mean go ask the question in the forums - did you do that?
I didn't mean that Sketchup should auto install extensions, but it should be simpler to get extensions to show up in SU. The only extension that's there when SU installs is Shape Bender. I then try extension manager and click install, highlight an extension and click open but nothing shows up. I then locate LibFredo6_v11.6a click open, nothing changes. Looked for a way to enable extensions on SU interface but nothing is there.What tops the whole matter off is when I go to Extension Warehouse to get extensions the Accept Terms is greyed out. I can't even get new extensions. Yes I followed directions on forums but nothing seems to work. Like I said before, I never had this problem with previous versions of Sketchup.

Correct - this was added in version 2017

I don't 100% understand what you're trying to do, but you should be able to right click on a component, click the option for "Save As," and save that component as a separate model. Then you can import or open that model in another model. Does that help?

I’m just frustrated with people that design computer programs because it should be obvious to anyone how to download something. There should be a big button that says “download here” and then you’re done...no video needed

@@Thesketchupessentials Yes and I ended up finding out thanks for your reply I had to maximize the screen in order to see install extension it wouldn’t let me scroll down also I’ve noticed for some extensions direct from sketch up once I scroll down to the end it will not let me install after I read terms and conditions there’s no maximize option but I have a feeling that’s also the issue For some reason my screen is not showing the entire thing
