- This week the Gypsy Kids are standing up for themselves. 13 year old Ben has been bullied out of no less than 10 schools because he is a Gypsy. He has channeled his frustrations and decided to speak out on stage at a London conference. But will his nerves get the better of him?
At just 10 years old, English Traveller Rhiann has faced more than her fair share of bullying. Her Mum has removed her from school as a result. Rhiann dreams of being an actress but when an opportunity to audition for a top agency arises, it becomes apparent that Rhiann’s reading has suffered due to her time away from the classroom. Not to be deterred, Rhiann makes the choice to return to school to ensure the bullies don’t hold her back.

I live near the site scarlet is located. The travelers have never been a problem ever. They keep themselves to themselves. They're clean and don't cause trouble. Breaks my heart that they want to get rid of them for the development of brookfield. No one has trouble with them at all.

If I was a gypsy mum of a daughter I would definitely chose Ben, he is absolutely amazing. His family are also lovely people at the end of Bens speech his dad grabbed him and said I love you, something I have never heard from other gypsy men! My son has always been bullied as he is autistic and he looks like my Italian family he is dark skinned with black hair, some kids are just mean and they continue to mean but one day they will turn around and they are left with no one! I HATE bullies both of my children know that bullying is disgusting and it can affect their lives forever!
It concerns me that the mother pulled her daughter out of school and the girl is so far behind. To say that if your child became an actor, she would be okay. If she can't read a basic script, she won't go very far. This is my opinion as a school teacher and I have nothing against gypsies.
@@amyrivers4093 that was my exact point to don't mind how they live I think it's unfortunate that they think it's okay to let their kids drop out at 6 and 7 years old and not know how to read and write! It's absolutely absurd and it should be against the law
She'd be better off in school but not if she's being bullied. They don't want to be in school because it's usually a traumatic rather than learning experience. There should be more support in place to encourage traveller parents to persevere with the mainstream school system 💜

Yep there is alot of different travellers..some are clean tidy and respectful..some are thieves and nasty.
Probably because they're not actually travelers. They don't just scam people, dump their trash everywhere, and then take off like the others do.
Been so busy this past month taking foster kiddos fishing and helping some elders now I have time to catch up to these wonderful episodes! I love this series ❤

These children are all such sweet, smart children. They have unfortunately seen the worst of people from such a young age and it’s heartbreaking they know they’re being discriminated against when they’re so young. Bullied. Victims of racism. What vile parents are teaching their children this hate? Hate is LEARNED. If your kids aren’t learning it from the parents then the parents need to find out where those ideas came from and stop it immediately. What if it were their children being treated like the gypsy children? They wouldn’t stand for it and they would defend their children and themselves. People need to break the cycle.

I really don't understand it. They claim to be travellers yet they want to be settled. The girls mother is saying she may need to leave school, change doctors etc... Their family has been their 40 years and I imagine the council is fed up with them living there for free when they could make money selling to developers.
Much as people will say "leave them alone", there is a solution. It looks as though it is already sub divided into plots. Offer the "travellers" their pitch at the going rate, that way they could all stay together as one big extended family. We know with the ££ they spend on weddings and funerals that they can well afford it, plus there are many generations all together who would help the younger ones.
Don't you just know that if the gypsies owned their plots and therefore had to pay council tax and water rates etc that there would be an uproar.
The gypsies don't care where they live as long as they feel they are scamming someone by not paying for it.

I feel like you are over exaggerating. Did you watch all the episodes up until now? There are some families featured that bought and own their own plot of land and pay taxes for it. Some families don't but that doesn't mean we should make it an 'all of them do it' type thing. Saying 'don't you just know if they owned their own land and had to pay taxes there would be an uproar' is prejudice on your part I'm afraid. Also, who tf are we to say where and on what someone should spend their money? We all make our own decisions and we shouldn't condemn someone just because they make choices we would never make. Everybody has their own reason and to impose your own on someone else is gross. A poor single mom might decide to buy a cellphone for her tween so they could fit in with classmates, that might mean the mom will have to eat bread for a month to compensate the phone cost, Other moms will choose food over fitting in. But who is to say which of the 2 is right or wrong? maybe they are both right and both wrong. Who are we to say poor people shouldn't save up for and spend money on life events just like everyone else? Reality is more complex than what both you or I are saying but I just wanted to try and offer a different perspective ✌
Not wanting to participate in a pre-defined social cultural structure you didn't agree with/your ancestors have never lived in does not make you a 'scammer'. It might seem like that sometimes, from a certain perspective but again, reality is more complex than that.

I wasn't happy about them getting turfed off Dale Farm which was land the travellers had purchased and was next door to an authorised site. The problem there is that the children rode motorcycles and fired air guns and slingshots, "Its our land" they cried... but it doesn't work like that. No matter if they own the land, they need to behave. They must also pay for the electricity supply to their caravans and chalets, but instead, they connect up to whatever they can, in the most dangerous way.
I actually know quite a bit more as my son was given some work Jet washing rooftops for £100 a day. It was only when i showed my son the newspaper cuttings showing what a vile crook the fella was, and that he had been in prison for scamming old people over home repairs.
There was an episode where this man BOUGHT his grandfathers old plot of land, and the town basically said NO because the neighbors complained. He literally purchased the land and a house to put on it……
Well, either travel or don't. 40 years on 1 site isn't travelling. It's tax avoidance.

Ben is doing a great job! I understand his fears, I spoke at Parliament House in home country last year and I was shaking to the core. I have multiple disabilities and I’m 40 and it was so scary for me to talk in front of a large audience. So hats off to Ben.

Lol when i was in grade school my brother was told no fighting at school and he got bullied bad. I was a little thing back then and processed to protect my older brother. They threatened to paddle me, my grandmother came over and told them they wouldn't ever hit me.

Travellers shouting that they don't want to move is funny! They want to be settled and stay in one place? Then they're not travellers except by blood. If they are proud of living 40 years in one place, they aren't suited to a traveller's lifestyle. I lived in a caravan the first 16 yrs of my life before the council moved us to a house. I got bullied at school and called 'Gippo'. I don't have any traveller heritage like they do, although my mother said there had been gypsies far back in our family. Every non 'traveller' in the UK living in rented accommodation made to move because of their landlord, faces the same problem as them. I lived in a rented house 7 yrs and last yr we had to move because our house got sold. We didn't want to move, we had to, just like them.

So I don't know if it's clear in these videos but they don't usually have toilets in their trailers leading to solid waste everywhere near their sites. It may not be so at a counsel site. But it's one of the complaints I've heard that I understand

I have more respect for the gypsys than for the general UK
population. I watch many British reality shows on RUclips and my impression generally of British people is not very positive. The homes inside are mainly filthy and full of damp and mould which nobody does anything about, streets are absolutely disgusting with all the trash lying around everywhere, people are complaining about not receiving sufficient Government handouts while not seeming ambitious to do anything positive to change their circumstances for the better. Gypsys at least live decent lives..their caravans are clean and they seem at least to have ambition...hats off to the Gypsys and travellers...love from sunny South Africa.

It's a language thing though it comes from the Roma - gadjo I think it's spelt, the Spanish gitanos use a very similar word. It's not an insult or derogatory just a noun. Whilst pikey is a slur.

Me iam a non- gypsy, and have seen how clean house properly, just by example from my family.
Why dont they all put the money together ( that they spend on cars, dresses etc. and put it twards land so they own it and dont have to move.. huild their own community? I know it might be hard to give up cars and dreeses but, land mo one can take away would be worth it.
