Well, that's why I don't study under him anymore, after a few years I got tired of his bullshit. I didn't see the video length at first and was all excited this might be an in-depth video about the general shifts in language that occur in delinquent/criminal dialects, haha. I got to enjoy some good laughs, though, so I'll take it! :)
I'm about eight months deep into studying Japanese, and recently I've been looking for content outside of graded readers and children's programs on NHK-E (I'll be honest, mostly ピタゴラスイッチ), which have been my primary "immersion" sources until recently. I've been reading through the first book in the ドラえもん manga series and started playing my first-ever Yakuza (龍が如く in Japan) series game.
The kid-speak and ruffian-speak is absolutely destroying what little comprehension ability I had. But it's given me a lot of excellent opportunities to get familiarized with the imperative form of verbs and language shortcuts (such as skipping or morphing the pronunciation of mora for easier speech). I can't wait to make a million friends with my delinquent kindergartener speech patterns.
