i think aoki purposely made this a radio pop song. he’s trying really hard to promote it on radio. we’re hoping this will give them more exposure. and then they’ll get to take and pick their collabs once they get more general public fans, and then they could do something more complicated. but apparently, there’s a remix version aoki sent to radio stations too so we shall see what they have planned

i think its a good song to get people who listen to very mainstream pop into bts. you're right though i would have loved to hear v and jhope and jin and suga too. to me its still a very enjoyable song
I've legit been mulling this over like all day and I was originally like "this is BS! False advertising" but as I've been going through the day, I've seen a TON of people commenting in the official lyric video saying "oh shit this is BTS, maybe I do need to listen to the hype and check them out" which wouldn't have happened if they had marketed it as "Ft. RM and Jungkook from BTS." Another thing I just realized was that RM is fluent in English and Kookie has experience doing covers for English-language songs. Suga, J Hope, Jin and V were maybe just not comfortable enough with English to do a full song in it.

I hope they don't let backlash stop them from doing more English songs, or songs in any language they see fit. With them getting so much worldwide recognition, English is gonna be the language they're gonna need the most experience with (most countries learn English as a second language after all) and it's not fair to them to restrict what languages they sing in for whatever reason they choose.

And what we expect, this is their first full english song, choosing a generic bit is a great strategy so it can be played everywhere and can be enjoyed by everyone. I agree. I think the beat is simplistic and maybe that's why people are saying generic. They said the song was for the fans and I really don't think a heavy beat would have been appropriate. Something lighter, where we get to hear them clearly especially with Jungkook's improved English, I think is perfect. Also it's nothing so extreme that a newcomer to Aoki or BTS might be overwhelmed by and stay away from like Mic Drop (which I love but if you aren't into hip hop you probably won't). I think it's a great collab that in the end will benefit both sides well.
Don't know if I agree with the generic strategy. The song "Regular" by NCT 127 seems more in line with BTS's style. But, as you said, this is Aoki's song, and not necessarily something BTS would create on their own given the time to do so.
it's also really inline with Aoki's chiller stuff though. It's in the same vein as his Louis Tomlinson collab and Lie to Me. Aoki tends to go harder with the club bangers but this is a good, chill tropical house track, which people will love. It's just a pity it didn't get released during summer as this such a great chill, summer track. I hope that there's a DJ cut that goes harder though, because I do like Aoki's harder stuff as well.
This is the first time BTS has officially released a song completely in English. They have expressed in the past (idr where or when) that they've wanted to stick with their roots and what they were comfortable with and continue singing in Korean but I guess with the large growth in their population in the Western market, they wanted to gift them with something new and different, which I'm not complaining about, the boys have always released covers to English songs in the past, particularly Jungkook lol, and ARMYs always enjoyed listening to it. But this is Steve Aoki's song FEATURING BTS, although we were set to believe that the track would have all 7 of the members participate, it was his artistic decision to include the vocals that he included. As some may already know, BTS discuss the entire creative process together, they take certain members' raps and vocals into consideration in order to come out with the best content; maybe it was their collective decision to leave those certain members out because they didn't fit with the track that was provided or to simply reduce the number of voices in the song as the average (Western) listener is not used to hearing the complexity of sounds and immense number of voices that come from Kpop. With Steve's decision to promote the song as featuring BTS is probably for the best bc it allows promotional coverage to the WHOLE group instead of just the few members that were heard in it, the average listener wouldn't be able to distinguish the individual members anyway if they had just stumbled across the song...if they like the feature, they'll look more into BTS' work as a group than say individually, for a lack of better wording. Besides, Steve and the boys have a good relationship, they would want each other to succeed in their respective fields and what's done is done, there's nothing more that we can do about the song now except to enjoy what they have gifted us. It's only right that we show our love and support by streaming it to the top of the charts as we wait for the accompanied MV.
At first when I heard the song, I was a little disappointed with how it sounded so similar to a lot of pop songs right now and that it was really only Jungkook and RM on the track. But after thinking about it and reading other people’s opinions, I think this was actually a really smart move. They wanted the two best English singers on the track to make sure it flowed. They also probably wanted the track to be simple with just 2 singers cuz then it makes it easier for new listeners to get hooked. A lot of people will hear this song & love it BECAUSE it sounds like a lot of pop songs. And then when they find out it is BTS singing, I believe it will be a great bridge to introducing them to BTS’s own music. I think this will be great publicity for them! And after a few more listens I am in love with this song! Also, go watch the official lyric video, some of these lyrics are wrong. But love your video as always Bris!!

I think it because the song was promoted like "BTS ft someone" and ARMY spend days waiting to know what's going on with that advertisement and when discovered it was Steve Aoki, we get is in fact Steve Aoki ft BTS. So, when the song was released and there were just RM and JK (and Jimin too) instead of the 7, they felt confused. Or at least that was my case. I was kind of confused because they showed us the 7. As far I've seen, people love the song but they thought the 7 would be there. I think that promoting the song with BTS is better than say "RM and JK of BTS" so I get the logic of all of this, also, GP liked the song and have searched for BTS, so it's good, but some ARMYs felt confused, but get the idea they won't do all their work/collabs together. In fact, I think if I had known that it was Steve ft BTs, the idea of just some members in the song wouldn't have confused me. Still, they have streamed and loved the song n.n But of course that there are ppl who don't and ugh :/

And I feel like it’s different from when they have solo mixtapes or solo songs on the albums because each member has a moment to shine and it’s already advertised as such. They didn’t say “BTS is putting out a mixtape but surprise! It’s actually only Suga”. I think that’s what makes this a little disappointing for me. It was advertised as BTS and BTS consists of 7 members so some of us weren’t prepared to primarily hear just 2 of them on the song. I get there’s a lot of behind the scenes stuff we don’t know about but it would’ve softened the blow if everyone knew it wasn’t going to be all 7 members. I’ll still support them and the song and I actually hope it gets them nominated for awards as well but I am also hoping next time they’re a little more upfront as to what to expect when there’s a collab.

Honestly, people will find anything to hate BTS over. As many have already stated this is a Steve Aoki song featuring BTS. A song that is being marketed to the general American public who is still not used to kpop or any other music sang in a different language. I think that this move is smart on both Aoki's and BTS's part in terms of marketing and exposure. I would say this song follows a trend with a lot of tropical house pop songs which tend to be popular as they are easy to listen to, you don't have to over think it (cause lord knows some people can't do that), it's catchy, the vocals are beautiful, nice little rap bit and it's not super overwhelming and in your face like Idol or Mic Drop. In other words, this is a perfect radio pop song which was intentional and a smart way to break BTS into America radio without being played at ungodly hours of the morning when no one is actually listening. Also, another smart move was saying it was a BTS feature instead of using their names such as Kim Namjoon, Park jimin, Jeon Jungkook, etc. Do you really think that the general American public knows who the heck those names belong to?! NO. However, I bet that they have at the very least heard of BTS in passing whether it be on the news or somewhere else. BTS is much more easily recognizable for western audiences. It is literally a marketing strategy and people are losing their cajones over it. I honestly am always blown away with how toxic some "fans" are, whether they be BTS fans or kpop fans in general. Blown away but definitely not surprised. It always seems that BTS is damned if they do damned if they don't and I respect the hell out of them for having to deal with this bs on a day to day basis. I couldn't imagine dealing with all the crap they deal with on a consistent basis..honestly, if I was in their shoes I would probably be in prison for assault because someone got in my personal space. You aren't going to have them forever. Like RM wrote and spoke on multiple occasions, "nothing lasts forever." One day they will retire, maybe they will stay in the music industry as PDs or writers but some of them may settle down and live a quiet life and good on them! I actually really like this as a smaller collab, because Jungkook is always doing covers of songs in English that are like this but now he has a song that’s been made for him and RM to sing. Its not a cover, it’s their collab and I think that’s cool. It’s a perfect starting point for people reluctant to get into BTS or Kpop because it’s in a style they recognize and it’s in English. There are only two members that they have to keep track of for this one, and then as they get curious they might check it more of their collabs, covers, and music. I think Steve Aoki is going to be a regular now, so I feel like we’ll be get more fleshed our collabs with all members in the future

Since this is a song on Steve Aoki’s album, I’m assuming that he and his team formed the guidelines for what they wanted in the song. So that could be the reason that we only hear 3 voices on the song. My favorite part is hearing Jungkook’s voice in English. He is amazing in this song.
RM & Jungkook main featured singers with rap from RM ...where chorus happens is all the guys singing together ...otherwise background singing is all the guys ...so they all sang I loved the song. I will say that while I also really like having all of them on the tracks, obviously there's a lot of songs that they've done with only a handful of members. Like how they have solos or Duets and some of their own songs. But I agree with some of the other comments and that they were trying to make it radio-friendly and based off the reactions I seen on either Twitter or the lyric video, BTS is getting a lot of exposure and there's a lot of people who wouldn't be listening to them otherwise we're now going to check them out. So like, it's not what we normally hear from them and it's not as Innovative as they normally are but I think as far as reaching new fans and also doing something for ARMYs that speak English I think it's really cool. Also it's nothing so extreme that a newcomer to Aoki or BTS might be overwhelmed by and stay away from like Mic Drop (which I love but if you aren't into hip hop you probably won't). I think it's a great collab that in the end will benefit both sides well.
Don't know if I agree with the generic strategy. The song "Regular" by NCT 127 seems more in line with BTS's style. But, as you said, this is Aoki's song, and not necessarily something BTS would create on their own given the time to do so.
it's also really inline with Aoki's chiller stuff though. It's in the same vein as his Louis Tomlinson collab and Lie to Me. Aoki tends to go harder with the club bangers but this is a good, chill tropical house track, which people will love. It's just a pity it didn't get released during summer as this such a great chill, summer track. I hope that there's a DJ cut that goes harder though, because I do like Aoki's harder stuff as well.
This is the first time BTS has officially released a song completely in English. They have expressed in the past (idr where or when) that they've wanted to stick with their roots and what they were comfortable with and continue singing in Korean but I guess with the large growth in their population in the Western market, they wanted to gift them with something new and different, which I'm not complaining about, the boys have always released covers to English songs in the past, particularly Jungkook lol, and ARMYs always enjoyed listening to it.
But this is Steve Aoki's song FEATURING BTS, although we were set to believe that the track would have all 7 of the members participate, it was his artistic decision to include the vocals that he included. As some may already know, BTS discuss the entire creative process together, they take certain members' raps and vocals into consideration in order to come out with the best content; maybe it was their collective decision to leave those certain members out because they didn't fit with the track that was provided or to simply reduce the number of voices in the song as the average (Western) listener is not used to hearing the complexity of sounds and immense number of voices that come from Kpop. With Steve's decision to promote the song as featuring BTS is probably for the best bc it allows promotional coverage to the WHOLE group instead of just the few members that were heard in it, the average listener wouldn't be able to distinguish the individual members anyway if they had just stumbled across the song...if they like the feature, they'll look more into BTS' work as a group than say individually, for a lack of better wording. Besides, Steve and the boys have a good relationship, they would want each other to succeed in their respective fields and what's done is done, there's nothing more that we can do about the song now except to enjoy what they have gifted us. It's only right that we show our love and support by streaming it to the top of the charts as we wait for the accompanied MV.

At first when I heard the song, I was a little disappointed with how it sounded so similar to a lot of pop songs right now and that it was really only Jungkook and RM on the track. But after thinking about it and reading other people’s opinions, I think this was actually a really smart move. They wanted the two best English singers on the track to make sure it flowed. They also probably wanted the track to be simple with just 2 singers cuz then it makes it easier for new listeners to get hooked. A lot of people will hear this song & love it BECAUSE it sounds like a lot of pop songs. And then when they find out it is BTS singing, I believe it will be a great bridge to introducing them to BTS’s own music. I think this will be great publicity for them! And after a few more listens I am in love with this song! Also, go watch the official lyric video, some of these lyrics are wrong.

I think it because the song was promoted like "BTS ft someone" and ARMY spend days waiting to know what's going on with that advertisement and when discovered it was Steve Aoki, we get is in fact Steve Aoki ft BTS. So, when the song was released and there were just RM and JK (and Jimin too) instead of the 7, they felt confused. Or at least that was my case. I was kind of confused because they showed us the 7. As far I've seen, people love the song but they thought the 7 would be there. I think that promoting the song with BTS is better than say "RM and JK of BTS" so I get the logic of all of this, also, GP liked the song and have searched for BTS, so it's good, but some ARMYs felt confused, but get the idea they won't do all their work/collabs together. In fact, I think if I had known that it was Steve ft BTs, the idea of just some members in the song wouldn't have confused me. Still, they have streamed and loved the song n.n

And I feel like it’s different from when they have solo mixtapes or solo songs on the albums because each member has a moment to shine and it’s already advertised as such. They didn’t say “BTS is putting out a mixtape but surprise! It’s actually only Suga”. I think that’s what makes this a little disappointing for me. It was advertised as BTS and BTS consists of 7 members so some of us weren’t prepared to primarily hear just 2 of them on the song. I get there’s a lot of behind the scenes stuff we don’t know about but it would’ve softened the blow if everyone knew it wasn’t going to be all 7 members. I’ll still support them and the song and I actually hope it gets them nominated for awards as well but I am also hoping next time they’re a little more upfront as to what to expect when there’s a collab.

Honestly, people will find anything to hate BTS over. As many have already stated this is a Steve Aoki song featuring BTS. A song that is being marketed to the general American public who is still not used to kpop or any other music sang in a different language. I think that this move is smart on both Aoki's and BTS's part in terms of marketing and exposure. I would say this song follows a trend with a lot of tropical house pop songs which tend to be popular as they are easy to listen to, you don't have to over think it (cause lord knows some people can't do that), it's catchy, the vocals are beautiful, nice little rap bit and it's not super overwhelming and in your face like Idol or Mic Drop. In other words, this is a perfect radio pop song which was intentional and a smart way to break BTS into America radio without being played at ungodly hours of the morning when no one is actually listening.
Also, another smart move was saying it was a BTS feature instead of using their names such as Kim Namjoon, Park jimin, Jeon Jungkook, etc. Do you really think that the general American public knows who the heck those names belong to?! NO. However, I bet that they have at the very least heard of BTS in passing whether it be on the news or somewhere else. BTS is much more easily recognizable for western audiences. It is literally a marketing strategy and people are losing their cajones over it.
I honestly am always blown away with how toxic some "fans" are, whether they be BTS fans or kpop fans in general. Blown away but definitely not surprised. It always seems that BTS is damned if they do damned if they don't and I respect the hell out of them for having to deal with this bs on a day to day basis. I couldn't imagine dealing with all the crap they deal with on a consistent basis..honestly, if I was in their shoes I would probably be in prison for assault because someone got in my personal space. You aren't going to have them forever. Like RM wrote and spoke on multiple occasions, "nothing lasts forever." One day they will retire, maybe they will stay in the music industry as PDs or writers but some of them may settle down and live a quiet life and good on them! Love and cherish them while you can, support and respect them while you can. Quit throwing a fit because it didn't go the way you wanted it to go, it's not your decision. Live and let live.

I actually really like this as a smaller collab, because Jungkook is always doing covers of songs in English that are like this but now he has a song that’s been made for him and RM to sing. Its not a cover, it’s their collab and I think that’s cool. It’s a perfect starting point for people reluctant to get into BTS or Kpop because it’s in a style they recognize and it’s in English. There are only two members that they have to keep track of for this one, and then as they get curious they might check it more of their collabs, covers, and music. I think Steve Aoki is going to be a regular now, so I feel like we’ll be get more fleshed our collabs with all members in the future

Since this is a song on Steve Aoki’s album, I’m assuming that he and his team formed the guidelines for what they wanted in the song. So that could be the reason that we only hear 3 voices on the song. My favorite part is hearing Jungkook’s voice in English. He is amazing in this song.

I will say that while I also really like having all of them on the tracks, obviously there's a lot of songs that they've done with only a handful of members. Like how they have solos or Duets and some of their own songs. But I agree with some of the other comments and that they were trying to make it radio-friendly and based off the reactions I seen on either Twitter or the lyric video, BTS is getting a lot of exposure and there's a lot of people who wouldn't be listening to them otherwise we're now going to check them out. So like, it's not what we normally hear from them and it's not as Innovative as they normally are but I think as far as reaching new fans and also doing something for ARMYs that speak English I think it's really cool.
