  • Here I am using Catia's Freestyle and Digitized Shape Editor to get a a quick slab across the center line of the vehicle.
I create a curve at the center line that matches the scan data then I extrude a surface out in both directions. Then using the control points I manipulate the surface to achieve my initial waterfall slab.

Hi Steve and thanks for your unique lessons,as always a question, how beneficial the clay mesh(triangles) is to choose the suitable layout patches?most of the clays CATIA has presented in its documents for demo purpose has a kind of texture that separate the planar portions and fillets for example, can these textures be considered as layout patches?please talk a little bit about how to choose proper layouts if possible, thank you.

Great classes. I have been using Icem Surf for 10 years. I have a question, is it also efficient to use Catia Icem toll for class A surfacing instead of using Icem Surf?

Hi Steven.being so busy and still answering student-fashioned questions like my questions is appreciated.thanks alot.
but my question:)I have faced something that looks so strange to me,when I try to manipulate couple of surfaces or curves simultaneously and I activate the "global mesh mode" it sometimes works and most of the time does NOT!
may you please tell me what's wrong with that or maybe something is wrong with me:)?
generally how should I manipulate various surfaces or curves specific CV's simultaneously?
    thanks.

It all depends on the software and the surfaces and the type of deformation.
Those are massive variables. I would need more input to see what is happening.

@@ClassASurfacingHi Steven.I use CATIA v5-6R2017,in which I know the "global mesh mode" is available in X Y and Z directions and not for local normal or tangent, and the surfaces or curves I try to manipulate all are NURBS without history on them,so why does not it work?
may you please make a short video about the prerequisites one surface or curve must have in order to be capable of being manipulated globally with the others?that's a huge help.
      I appreciate.
      thanks a lot.

for future tutorials would be great to see the "menus" on the sides, they are cut of and we cant really see which buttons you are clicking. Also how do you extract the first Surface the second time without producing another Surface?

Is catıa capable of doing class A surface by itself without scan model ?

do you happen to be able to upload the claymodel for us to follow your tutorial?

+marcus enberg I may do that in the future but for now I must hold off. All in time.
