Che' Chinchillas: Chinchilla Mom with Babies

This is a standard grey female chinchilla with 2 babies. These babies are the same age and from the same litter, but one baby weighs almost 200 grams while the other baby only weighs 48 grams. The smaller baby does not look like a dwarf or have any characteristics of a dwarf. A dwarf would actually weigh more at this age than this tiny baby does. He seems healthy and does nurse, run around, etc. They are 4 weeks old. Chinchilla females have a 2 horned uterus, so they can get pregnant in one horn and then 2 weeks later get pregnant in the other horn. When the older baby is ready to be delivered the younger baby comes out too, but even if this tiny baby was premature he should still weigh more than he does at this age.

Did you end up making it...? After 4 weeks, youd expect hed be outta the woods. But dang. Hus sister is 4x his size!?! What was their weight difference at birth?? If much at all? Thats so crazy!
