Enjoyed the special touch of a supernatural element in the hotel review😊 I’m sure the old charm here is not maintained properly… specially the basement looked in fact unhealthy ( mildew, stale air, dampness, not proper ventilation..) even without the spooky part of it! That’s why the uneasy feeling possibly! Pineridge in Darjeeling is definitely haunted, I heard. I’m glad your family members moved out.
The feel is what makes these hotels spooky I believe. I would say these heritage hotels are an experience - provided it’s a short one 😊

First week e oshubidhe howar kotha na. But ekhon tourists ra je kono time ei Darjeeling visit kore. So it’s safer to book and go 😊👍🏻

Ektu research kore dekhte hobe. But Mall e onek hotel e achhe jegulo te staircase use korte hoe na - dhuke same floor ei rooms achhe. For example, Sunflower Hotel.

Cars go up to Bhanu Bhavan/ Gorkha Territorial Administration building. Okhan theke around 5 minutes hata to Mall. Rasta ta plain, koto slope by climb nei. Mall ei Sunflower Hotel.
Ektu hatte hobe - Mall e kono gari jae na. But hata ta is same as walking in Kolkata streets, for around 5-7 minutes max.

Is there any uncanny feeling in Chalot hotel as described by yr jijaji😀
Actually the building is old, and the wooden walls and floor are creaky, and that makes some uncanny noise when people walk around. So if someone walks in their room, people in other rooms may feel like someone is walking outside in the corridor or even inside the room they are in 😁
When it’s windy, the wind also makes noise through the gaps in the walls. Also, since Darjeeling weather is moist, the floors in the basement feel a bit spooky, and the air is heavy.
All these factors result in the uncanny spooky feel that one gets while staying in Chalet Hotel 😀
