This is a wake up call. 2K has to fix their game the fact you are playing lights out interior defense with almost nil for INTD and BLOCK is absolutely pathetic. What are the stats for if they serve absolutely no purpose for bigs? May as well start making 6'8-6'11 centers with long wingspans for elite positioning because that's all that is needed.

Im not gonna lie i have 6’8 center and 90% of the time im giving these 7 footers problem and outboarding them.
This has been the most inconsistent year. Before they started patching everything, this was my favorite 2K. Even when I couldn't shoot, there were no complaints. Why? Because I knew eventually I would figure it out. They started changing everything and now the mechanics are in the trash. They need to do a factory reset lol
I think this year they make it very clear that we have to jump on everything. A lot of the hands up layups seem to just be open or a very low contest. But if you jump too much it’ll be a crazy foul animation. Doesn’t seem like it’s based mainly on ratings and badges.
idk if you figured it out yet but if your interior is high , you can really just go hands up and be good . i do it all the time . i have hof post lockdown and it’s really really really good ….. like , it’s stops 90-95 percent of cheesy standing dunks IF YOU CAN STAY IN POSITION *** hope it all worked out for you .
Ive been telling my people for years it is useless. Perimeter would be too if there wasnt body ups and ankle breakers
I think interior d is more so for guarding the post. Back downs, spins and drop steps in the post destroy you if you have low interior d.
Interior helps you guard the post. Its been proven. You can have high strength and still get back down if you have low interior.@@LeafVillageJonin
Inferior defense is only for helping to stop post scorers. When i use a build with high INTD I'm damn near impossible to back down but with low INTD i get thrown out the way. Besides that i haven't seen it help with anything else
Bro I definitely agree with you i went 88 interior on my 6’8 build and get more stops against post scorers cause bronze post lockdown does nothing
The attributes are just broken and it sucks because this would have been a great year if they got them right with some of the contest system changes. They could have easily made it the case where if you have low defensive ratings your slow to raise your hands, you move slower in space on defense, bumped off your spots easier, and you even if you make it into good positioning on time you’re poor at tracking the ball because this year that’s what’s going to determine contests. Just like if you have none to low ball handling you can’t do many moves at all the ones you can do are slow and not super effective, the same way if you don’t have shooting you don’t have access to decent jumpers and you can’t be effective at that, I just don’t understand why defense would be any different.
Also I think the reason why you see a lot of opens on hands up contests in the paint is because of speed if you make it to them hands up when they’re still floorbound you usually get way better contests.
That's exactly how it works though. At least on perimeter D. Interior D your contest level rises, but it seems 55 and up is enough to have a presence. The key here is immovable enforcer. It helps you contest even more if you're strong enough. Last year strength also boosted defense, but wasn't a badge.
Post move lock down badge helps against spins. That’s tied to interior. But that’s it
So what I notice when playing as inside center like a shaq with high post control that’s the only time I’ve seen interior defense matter. When I go against centers with 88 and below I dog them and moved them out the way with a 90 strength EVEN when they have gold anchor and higher strength. But when I’ve gone against bigs with 90+ interior and silver anchor, I can’t move. And then for some reason guards 6’5 below get weird contest in the paint on me. The game is inconsistent af
That 90+ interior D does be hitting different. Played a dude that had 99 interior D and post moves dunks, layups and post hooks were a no go bro I had to go back in the lab and create a new bigman with 96 Interior D and its a world of difference from a 82

tbh those bigs with 88 int or below probably cant keep post lock high since there arent many centers that know how to drop step (hence activating post lock). I floor set my post lock to gold + 95 strength HoF immovable enforcer. I don’t move at all and leave inside centers 0, unless they get those pass animations passed me. zzzz

Here is your thing. 90% of those clips came from player with no close shots because their favorite RUclips told them it didn’t matter. They would always miss those shots with 0 to no close shots. A true inside center/ player would take advantage of that.
Some of those are driving layups

Interior D confuses TF out of me. I green heavily contested layups all day on players with no interior D. But I have a 90+ close shot, 92+ post control (and badged out) on all of my builds and can’t even hit a close shot over builds with no interior D💀
I have a 77 interior on my 6’8 lock 6’6 sg and 7’2 center I can stop ppl easily for my big tho I got 92 block and I average 5 blocks a game in rec I can average 2-4 blocks a game with my lock possibly so yea I think it’s a scam to go higher than a 77

I have 7ft and 610 center this year, both have 87 block, 72 int and 80 plus vert both feel dominant against dd and stand lays. Position paired with immovable is the best defensive attribute for bigs. Silver reb chaser and gold box gives good value as well.

I have a 82 interior defense and people just score so easy. I thini its because of my wingspan short arms. Im a 7 foot center btw. But i get more contest with my other center build who has more wingspan but have less interior defense. The game right now is not good. Shoot8ng is still a problem

My biggest issue is that a 6'4 can contest a 7 footer in the paint with no effort, no interior d, and really not even good positioning. Meanwhile perimeter shooters bang down red heavily contested shots on low perimeter/high interior defense bigs.

Depends what build you’re talking about. It scales differently, not sure why, if it’s position, height, but on guards I always max interior for the reason you’re mentioning. For this build that’s not the case, same with other big builds as well.

I have a 7’1” center with every finishing badge hof or gold and be getting stopped by 6’8”s with no interior. Have a 6’10” with 97 block and high interior and dudes with 70 layup be jelly all over my contests. The game is ASS

I have a 95 int def and by halftime most of my matchups give up on running to the paint. If they even bump me going to the rim they miss. I’m 240 lbs so im kind of slow but this game is about positioning so I can’t completely about my build
I have a 7 foot center with 90 standing, 88 shot close and contact dunks. With shot close it definitely doesn’t matter I’ll just miss every time if the defense gets a good contest but when it comes to dunking I feel a difference. If it’s a shorter defender or even a taller center who isn’t some kind of 2-way I basically just auto dunk on them every time I’m close to the basket so that’s the only time I’ve felt it mattered but that could easily be because of block not interior D

I run my 7'1 to 7'3 centers with at most 77 interior defense and 75 strength with 8ft Wingspan, minimum weight and 93 block...feel like I get more bumps and stops running this way

Interior defense as a stat in my opinion as a big is more a big man stat and that is because I feel like it’s only valuable for post move lockdown too not get drop stepped and to not be able to get backed down

the reason why it feels like a low interior defense can work and is effective...is because 95%of builds have very little or no close shot at all. so yeah, those 61 interior defense will work...

Dumb question: how do you view your opponent's build after the game? I haven't been able to figure it out this year
They removed it for some unknown reason. Was a good feature, but they can't have us seeing the guy with 70 3pt who just had 20 pct from 3 before the game and a 10wp just went 6/6 on you with no badge and 4 of them contested. 😂

Maybe to the “comp” scene it doesn’t matter, but to the regular player if you don’t have interior D you’re dumb asf. Many park randoms use drop steps and post moves. Obviously most comp players aren’t post centers tho so people like lakerfan think it’s useless as he doesn’t go against those lineups
yeah, kinda scammy.... when blowby a midget 6ft player and you are 6'11 pF, they are at the back no way of contesting your shot, but your character change his shot into something very difficult like a fade away 2 ft shot and MISSED IT... i mean why? thats the question i always ask LOL, i guess its called interior defense for a reason... as long you are inside positioning doesnt matter LOL

Just played against a big with 98 INT D, was able to dunk all over him and make open driving layups, attribute is useless
Please address the permaban wave going around, explain how cashout gets banned and becuz off clout and status/connections got a Dev to unban him within the same day! But the rest of us have to wait days to weeks to even hear back from 2ksupport about our ticket. This is neither right nor fair! I’ve been banned since the 16th, and still haven’t even so much been told why or for how long, but I got the “thx for your continued patience” . I’m just hoping this ban appeal works in my favor and I get unbanned I had just hit Starter3, smh. Should’ve never came back to 2k it was because of this type of toxicity that I left in 2k21. My day 1 build I made a hybrid defender with 90 interior. Not knowing nothing about the game. With 84 blocks. Strength at 74 and still can defend in the paint from time to time. If they fix interior I’d really be unstoppable

You keep saying "comp pro am". It isn't that interior D is useless. The shots in the clips are just TERRIBLE shots. If that is what comp pro am players are doing now a days pro am is horrible. You are literally sitting paint in some of the clips and small guards are coming in for contested lay ups. Smh
I’m telling you bro its bad I have a build with 90 standing dunk 90 vert and gold masher I get no windowed by people who masher pops on with backdown punisher going off too but I have 85 interior on it and I get contacted on by standing dunk even though a body up and a hand up or a block

Interior defense stops standing dunks and standing meter dunks. If you dont have 2 way or defensive anchor in your name you are gonna get standing meter dunked back to the myplayer builder. If you are a 2 way or defensive anchor then the meter dunk wont even pop or it will knock me out of the meter into a standing layup that misses every time. For a defensive center build you want 88 interior minimum. If you aren't worried about standing dunks or post scorers then you can skip interior defense.

I’m on my first build, my hybrid defender with 90 interior. Idk if it works but I know how to play defense. I also have a 60 steal and get at least 3 to 5 steals a game

6’10- I DISAGREE. If you play park specifically 2s or 1s you absolutely need it otherwise your getting drop stepped and standing dunked. You didn’t mention that. W/ out interior defense you don’t get post lockdown badge to prevent is. A smart Rec team is going to put you against an inside center and murder you. Your strength isn’t enough to stop a drop step. 🤷🏾♂️

If you're a big center you need interior.. I get pulled into EVERY contact with gold anchor 77 interior...
But if you're 6'9 and smaller you don't need any interior to get stops just chill below the rim.
Same with blocks...
Every time you go against a tall big you get blocks easy.
Against a guard it's an automatic foul.
2k protects its small people at all costs as usual.

Interior D is only helpful if it's really high, and that's for post lockdown badge. But that's only helpful if matched up against a post scorer that wants inside VS fades 😔

To be fair if someone is standing directly in front of you outside of the restricted zone, it should be very hard to get a dunk off. This is to stop people from mindlessly rim running and doing stick dunks.
@theblackjetlee2542 inside the restricted zone you'd be correct, but even if someone is 6ft even standing directly in front of you outside the circle, that's incredibly difficult to dunk on in real life so it should be incredibly difficult in game

it absolutely is, i can contest a lot of shots on a 25 int with just hands up. I do think the anchor badge is solid though, but to be fair i haven’t tried a build with only block no int

I have HOF post lock,anchor and immovable enforcer plus a 95 strength and still can get drop stepped and when someone does a standing dunk meter over me there green window is 75% green

I have a 5’11 guard and I get stops in the paint all the time. Timing and positioning is most important
I just made a 6'7 SF with a 60 interior and i can stop 7'1's at the rim

Interior. Glad I watched this before making the original version. Can't wait to surprise my squad with it. But one thing, does the 75 ball handle matter? I put it down to 74 and speed with ball to 65 and dropped speed down to 74 and was able to get break starter to HOF and kept 78 driving layup. This build is BEASTMODE, especially with the elite contacts off one.
75 is a threshold for a lot of signature size ups. So I would check those out before you make your build 74 ball handle

I just got done playing the ones court some 6’10 slasher literally just need a little space and he will literally get a green standing dunk or green slashing dunk. I was in great position in a bunch of them but according to you if you ride a slasher hip 2k sees that as open. But it was insane because all the times I contested it I was standing in front but not contest. I have 55 int and 25 blocks btw. Which understandable but to allow that to green no matter the position of the defense is insane and shouldn’t be a thing.
