I’ve purchased a few beautiful Kaigelu 316’s only to regrettably have to give them away because my wife appropriated one and others were selected when given the option to choose among several.

My wife is usually quite good with my pens, and my son refuses to use any type of pen other than a Bic ballpoint.

Love my 316a. The acrylic / resin is beautiful. I like that the finials are of the same resin as the body. It keeps the pen from being compared to the Parker Duofold. The converter works well, nothing fantastic but like the Kaigelu name is on the converter. It is interesting that the the model is not revealed until you remove the section.
The crown has the logo under a clear acrylic dome. Nice touch.
Nib works very well and is smooth with a little feedback.
I like that the 316a lost some of the weight.
My only criticism of the 316a are the threads between the cap and barrel. I have to be careful to attach the two. They do close well but the threads are not precisely matched. I do worry that I will either crack to cap or the pen will no longer close.
    Great comparison, Garry

Thanks. I quite like the same material through the whole of the pen.

Like the looks of the Robert Oster Light Green ink. My two original 316s are the heavier of the later models
of the 316 and 316a. Have (8) 316s in my collection and do enjoy the writing experience. I was able to
see the top of the "x", though it was much lighter in intensity.

      Wow 8!
I can see the attraction in that, the pens usually work well and that gives you a lot of choice in colours.

    1. I'm an outlier, preferring the contrasting colored finials and section. The monochrome I find a little boring, but then I am not on Team Swirly
    Plastic.
    2. From this video, I would rule out these pens for having inconsistent nib performance. OTOH, you report fine performance during normal use. Which do I believe, what I see or what I hear? A conundrum.
    3. The fact that commenter Kelley chose to buy 10 of these pens definitely reinforces the good performance judgment. Any pen one buys again obviously has SOMETHING special about it (for those of us with less than 100 pens, maybe).
    4. However I just took some time to review the pens I have re-bought and have to admit that I would only recommend one of the six. Generally, I got a bee in my bonnet regarding some feature, bought more, then the bee flew away. My tastes and judgments keep changing! Dang. The one special case is the Pilot Parallel, but only because there aren't any competitors for superwide nibs.

I felt it was just typical to have issues with writing while recording. I did think about re-filming but thought it would be better to show the bad as well as the good.
I'm with you on ever-changing tastes. I buy a load of Chinese pens, get frustrated by some, and swear I'll never buy any more. Then within a month am doing another order.

Thank you for this video! I unwittingly reviewed a 316a but didn't know that it was a new model since I had not purchased it. I appreciate your detailed comparison of the two models. I'm going to pin a link to this video onto my video because you add the detail I entirely missed.

      Thank you.
When I watched your video on the 316a, I turned to my wife and said "that's the same colour I have".
