- The stock reverse lights in your Wrangler JL suck. The Rear Bumper LED Reverse Lights from Oracle Lighting gives your Wrangler more light, making your back-up game suck less.
These Oracle lights are meant to replace the red reflectors on factory plastic and steel rear bumpers and they put out a clear white light at 1000 lumens of output. They go a long way in improving backup visibility, particularly through the camera.
They're easy to install, it only requires you to remove and replace the two bolts from the reflectors; and in our case we removed the tail lights in order to wire into the purple and orange wires on the tail light harness. However, you can also wire into the reverse lights on your tow harness if you have one.
We re really liked these, these are smart upgrade for cheap, with minimal labour involved. What do you think? Comment with your thoughts below or if you have any questions about our install, we'd love to hear from you! Do you have any DIY projects you'd like us to cover?

Great video, you covered all the complications that I ran into and you also reminded me that I didn't wrap the taps with electrical tape. I also think that removing the muffler is easier than removing the bumper, especially if you have all the proximity sensors like mine. The lights are super bright and turn night into day. I was told by someone a block away that they thought they were looking at my headlights, that's how bright they are. The only thing you can do better with your video is show how to install a switch to turn these lights on independent of putting the vehicle in reverse. It would come in handy when camping or just using them to light a dark area.
An independent switch would be nice!
Love them, easier to take off muffler then use extension. Had to file driver side light a little to get good fit
Glad you're loving them!
This is definitely the way to go, great product, easy install.
Nice upgrade but per Oracle Tech Support they do not fit the OEM steel bumper without grinding 3mm from the housing of the new light on the Driver side 🤔. Seriously Oracle could fix this problem but they elect to let the customer deal with their R&D mistake.
Oracle said they would be addressing that on the next run of lights.
Just ordered. I’m going to just take off the bumper and run it to the back tail lights. I do have the tow package. But haven’t seen any instructions on how to tap into the two package harness.
We wired ours into the twilight wiring as per the instructions.
To wire to the tow package harness, you'll need to find out which color wires do what.
@@northridgenation I’m going to do the same. Last question. Was there enough wire to reach the taillight twilight wires? I read that the wires on these were short and had to do some splicing.
Wonder could you wire to an aux switch and use them as camping lights at the rear kitchen
Definitely!
I read on a forum that one of the lights, I think it was the driver side, does not fit the JL Rubicon factory steel bumper and that you have to grind some casing off the light to get it to fit. Any idea if that is the case? Not a huge deal up I want a factory fit and don’t really want to grind the light’s casing down. Thanks.
Ours fit, but were real tight.
Oracle has made a change to the light, now they fit perfect.
Can I put red tint on them and connect it to my license plate wires? I want them on all the time. They should make them red and they can be used for rear fog. It’ll still help for brightening reversing anyway.
Sure. They would probably be a little too bright for regular street use, so make sure that tint is heavy.
I’m trying to install this but have smoked tail lights. There is no orange and purple and I don’t know what wires are actually the reverse light. Help please
You can try tracing the orange and purple wires on the original harness that should be on the opposite side of the connection to your tail lights. The wires and connections will line up at the plug and be directly opposite of one another.
Let us know if this helped or not, we'll do what we can to find an answer!
@@northridgenation we had a similar issue and came up with a less than ideal workaround. We used a 4 pole relay. We tapped into the reverse light circuit to power the relay’s “trigger” circuit. The relay’s trigger circuit draws very little amperage. The “power” circuit on the relay was connected to the battery (as I said, not a great workaround) and to the Oracle reverse lights. So, when you shit into reverse, the trigger circuit on the relay is completed, and “triggers” the main power circuit on the relay, illuminating the Oracle reverse lights. Using a relay solved the problem.
I’ve got a 2019 Jl what color wire is for the passenger side on the reveres light
Can I use splitter in cable and route it to the AUX switches so when needed I can manually turn them on but when I reverse they still turn on automatically
The easiest way would be to hard wire the Oracle BU lights to only turn on with the AUX switches separate from the back-up light circuit or you would back feed power into backup circuit and cause problems.
The harder way would be to use a specialty diode to absorb the back fed power before it gets to the backup light circuit, but that is beyond the discussion here.
So if i have the tow package on my 2018 jlu sahara, what color lights should i be looking for to tap in at the hitch?
I have the same tow package and would like to know this also?
@@mikekahmer6706 Ever get an answer? I'm guessing it's the same color as the brake lights- tow harness has brake light lines for the trailer...... so...
What tool did you use to remove the bolt for the reflectors?
A socket, wobbly, extension and a 1/4" drive ratchet.
BUT, after doing it in the vehicle, next time we're just going to pull the bumper. Much faster that way.
Will these work with a Go-Rhino midwith rear bumper?
Possibly, though you'd have to fab up whatever mounts are needed to make them work.
Backordered
All but you didn’t explain which wire goes where.
@Thatsilver6.6, connect the red to the orange and the black to the purple.
