Great video only if you could go more in depth on how you got all those wires to the engine bay and what power source did you connect all those wires to
Watched the vid to see what locations you mounted them to. Word to the viewers though, ground connections can be localized to the light...the entire chassis/frame is a ground, so don't feel it necessary to run ground wires throughout the vehicle, just the power wires. If you want them to turn on with a switch, as well as with the doors, you'd essentially need to do a double relay system, one relay for the main switch, with a secondary relay triggered by a wire that gets ground or power once the doors open (a chime, a ground signal which turns on the interior lights, etc.). I'm going to do a more detailed video since people seem to want wiring explanations. You wouldn't want to run this direct through a switch, even though it's low amps...wouldn't be wise, unless the switch has lots of margin for amps.
Neil!!!... wtf!!! no wonder you're not answering my calls... need you to get back to Toronto to do my installs. 😤 but seriously, it was nice seeing you guys hooking up.
Great video :) one thing ... for those of us new to this .....how to finish off the electrical connections would be awesome ...l have the wiring done but how to get he’d unit connected to power and connect the trigger so it works when you open the door ??? Can it run off the tough country controller or is it better connected to the battery ( opt7 quantum lights ).... keep up the good work !!!!!!
Dude, I like your rig and vids.consider turning your pillar light out at a 45 degree angle. With a light bar, bumper lights and headlights you have a ton of forward light overlap. Turning your pillar lights will give you a much wider sweep. I run duels at 45 and 90 degrees. I have a 270 degree sweep of visibility. Just my two cents! Keep the vids coming! Thanks
I actually think the red lights are a nice touch. If you ever take your Jeep out camping, red light won't ruin your night vision the way that white light does. Keeps your eyes adjusted to the dark!
+navybeat army Never thought of that!! Great point, I am hoping to do some camping adventure series in the future so you might just see your idea put to the test! Thanks for watching!
Geez, w a pita to wire each one seperately. Most rock lights come with IP68 plug & play harness wired to a single module. No splicing, soldering, heat shrink. Then just 1 set of hot/grounds to switch pod. Now that you got some wheels, maybe you should've waited to do some new fenders before rock lights because you might have to re-do some if and when u get fenders...and you're right, might not serve purpose off road but nothing wrong with a little eye candy!
So you say it’s an 8 piece set yet I count you installing at least 14 lights. 1 in each wheel well. 2 behind the grill, 2 under each bumper and 1 under each door. How did you do all that with an 8 piece set?
Did you figure out how to separate the inner fender from the tub because it took me about 5 minutes and then I put the wires through the little hole behind the tail lights fishing it up through the grommet inside of the tub in the back and then through the cab
? are all your wires ran to one rock connector-unit? i have a 20 JWU Willys and bought rocker lights. i bought a toggle switch for my street bike but it only had 4-pins (2) battery (2) lights but i have many more i'd like to install using 1 rocker
I'd like mine connected to dome lights. I suppose via footwell lights. How do you get from the rocksliders to footwell lights and keep your jeep waterproof?
Not driving it enuff....I was watching the vid wondering what is that white stuff on your Jeep? then it dawned on me, sand. DUH. Up here we call it snow.
Zip ties are an interesting way of installing them. Let me know how they hold up. I would be afraid of ripping them off. Check out DCS lighting they make frame mounted rock lights so you can just put them in your frame holes no drilling required. I did a video on them. Great video though can't wait to see those tires on. What did you go with?
+The Bearded Jeeper Thanks for the comment Kyle! Yah zip ties are not my preferred choice for installations HOWEVER because these rock lights are so small and light plus there is not a real good way to “bolt” them without drilling and cutting.... that’s why zip ties seem to be the way to go. Espically since the strong plastic zip ties can be mounted to anything and will last a long time! I will look into the brand you suggested tho! Also I just posted a pic of the wheels on IG!!
Thanks for the comment! Great Question, the wheels are going on today!! Video will be up in 2 weeks!! I am keeping the stock fenders for a little while, when I change them I will remove the rock lights and re install them on the new fenders! Thanks for the support!
so did you wire all the lights to eachother, then run on of the lights wires to the battery or switch pod? so if you had say 8 lights, all 8 are wired together and then the 8th one goes to the switch pod? i want to do rock lights, preferably RGB that are wired to my switch pod, no controlled on and off from phone
Can you wire the rock lights to each other and have one wire running to the box instead of buying extensions for the rock lights in the rear that need them
Yes you definitely can. Those little lights don’t pull hardly any amps. You can wire all the lights in sync with each other and then just run 1 power and 1 negative and be done with it. That is definitely how I’ll be doing mine.
Installed this on my Jk last year, but the length of the kit sucked. Pay attention to the lengths of the wires when ordering. Buy the longest that is available, mine barely would reach from wheel well to wheel well.
I purchased 4 thinking that’d be enough 😂. 2 in the grille and two in the front fenders. I be buying an 8pc next. 4 on the step bars. 2 on the fenders. 2 on the rear bumper.
Because when you said 8piece in the beginning then as video goes on seemed like more..im about to install 10 so my only question is 1 or 2 in the fender wells?
@@adventuredex did you add an extender for the other 6. How did you do that? You started with a kit of 8...how did you get the other 6 on? Did you order a kit with 14 pods or buy one kit of 8 and then another kit of 6?
+astrogreenarrow Thanks for the comment, I would recommend check your local laws for any modification you make. Different places have different laws for tires, fender, light, etc. thanks for watching
Definitely! Nice cameo appearance! glad yinz guys connected! again, I think you guyz could show up at the Bantam Heritage Jeep festival next year. It would be a great promo! BTW I am not affiliated with it. I just live near there.
Thanks for your comment. This install method can be used for any rock lights even the more traditional white lights which obviously serve a much more useful purpose but as I mentioned in the video, this was just for fun!
I bought the white ones. They're pretty useful at night for backing up and making sure you're not going to run into anything. I would never buy the neon ones tho
Great video only if you could go more in depth on how you got all those wires to the engine bay and what power source did you connect all those wires to

You can use a voswitch or Spod to hook these up they are designed to do this.
I bought magnets off amazon and glued them to the back of my rock lights. Now I can stick them anywhere on the body. Try it out sometime
+Timmy B That’s a cool idea!! Thanks for sharing
Or just buy lux lights they are designed with a magnet for mounting and it uses the metal to disperse the heat from the light
Neil!!!... wtf!!! no wonder you're not answering my calls... need you to get back to Toronto to do my installs. 😤 but seriously, it was nice seeing you guys hooking up.
+qazzatrinity haha glad you enjoyed!! Thanks for watching!!
So the guy actually came from Canada to help you Install the Rock lights, lol, great video bro
+OFF ROAD N Chill haha Thanks man!!

Sorry I don’t understand???
My toxic trait is I believe I’m an expert after watching this.
Thank you 🎉

ive been thinking to add these to mine... looks awesome

Good eye! You are correct, GTAJeeps sells a standard 8 piece set but I added on a new extras to have a better effect. Thanks for watching!
Did you figure out how to separate the inner fender from the tub because it took me about 5 minutes and then I put the wires through the little hole behind the tail lights fishing it up through the grommet inside of the tub in the back and then through the cab
Did you guys not route all the wires together and then that one cord to a power source? Did you guys wire each cord to a power source?
I got a blue 2002 tj with a 3 inch lift and I just put my hard top on today. Any recommendations for rock lights that change colors via remote.
Where did you get your toolbox/rolling chair? The lights look awesome by the way!
+Michael Bodine Thanks!! The toolbox is from Mychanic I will be doing a video on there tools soon!!

AdventureDex your welcome
Nice video as always did you just run a pos, and ground all the way around tapping each light into it like a string of Christmas lights?
+Mike Mike Yes that method would work! Thanks for watching
"We're gonna be installing a set of these 8 piece led rock light"
*Proceeds to install 14 rock lights
? I’m new at wiring so if you wire it do you run lead power to just one light then jump it from light to light
Technically yes however you want to make sure its all safely connected and you don't over load it. Thanks for watching!
Awesome thx for the info!
Keep on jeeping
I'd like mine connected to dome lights. I suppose via footwell lights. How do you get from the rocksliders to footwell lights and keep your jeep waterproof?
Dex nice video how many miles are on your jeep ?
About 35k! Thanks for watching!

Nice, those are really bright. When you put your new wheels on, are you going to put new fender flares or keep the stock ones?
Thanks for the comment! Great Question, the wheels are going on today!! Video will be up in 2 weeks!! I am keeping the stock fenders for a little while, when I change them I will remove the rock lights and re install them on the new fenders! Thanks for the support!
Bad ass ! New Sub here !!
Wulfy
How did u zip tie the rear with 3 holes if one was the wire? Did u use one zip tie or 2?
Used 3 two small ones on each side and one big one through both small ones! Hope that makes sense!!
so did you wire all the lights to eachother, then run on of the lights wires to the battery or switch pod? so if you had say 8 lights, all 8 are wired together and then the 8th one goes to the switch pod? i want to do rock lights, preferably RGB that are wired to my switch pod, no controlled on and off from phone
and btw, the link doesnt work anymore =(
Thanks for the comment! I wired them all together to one central place than 1 wire to the power source! Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

I love your jeep bro i wish i had one just like it
+jakeyy _boy Thanks dude!!
I live here in Haines City Florida where can I take minds to put on
Great video man, what type of battery are you using or which one do you recommend to support all those lights
The battery I have is crap! I recommend getting a good quality brand. The LED's are too hard on the battery anyway. Thanks for watching!
went to the page you linked with; its not available 😞
How far apart should you mount your rock lights if you have a 9 foot in length area and how many lights should you use?
It’s totally up to you. Use your imagination and test how it will look with a 9v battery. Thanks for watching
Dangit Dex, I see you sneaking those nittos in the back ground!
Coming soon brother!!
Installed this on my Jk last year, but the length of the kit sucked. Pay attention to the lengths of the wires when ordering. Buy the longest that is available, mine barely would reach from wheel well to wheel well.
Yeah, agreed. Thats why you gotta extend the wires. Not too hard but it is a task. Thanks for watching!
I purchased 4 thinking that’d be enough 😂. 2 in the grille and two in the front fenders. I be buying an 8pc next. 4 on the step bars. 2 on the fenders. 2 on the rear bumper.
looking for same but RGB that can be flashing with music thanks man
Did they come with extra wiring?
Where did you get this rolling tool box u are sitting on?
Mychanic 🙌🏼
How many rock lights in total im at 10?
14 in total 😅
Because when you said 8piece in the beginning then as video goes on seemed like more..im about to install 10 so my only question is 1 or 2 in the fender wells?
I just added a few extra behind the grille. 1 in each fender 👌🏼
@@adventuredex did you add an extender for the other 6. How did you do that? You started with a kit of 8...how did you get the other 6 on? Did you order a kit with 14 pods or buy one kit of 8 and then another kit of 6?
I just spliced the wires and joined them 👌🏼
Any reason why you didn't go with magnetic mount rock lights?
+Talez From the DashCam didn’t know they exist... how are they??
I saw them on another vid. I assumed you knew about them. oh well....
+Talez From the DashCam No worri s
These mount sturdier and I bought a set of 4 for under $20
Thanks for sharing
hey question aren't these illegal or legal for florida
+astrogreenarrow Thanks for the comment, I would recommend check your local laws for any modification you make. Different places have different laws for tires, fender, light, etc. thanks for watching
So sweet 😱
Thanks a lot!!
On the rears you should have just pulled out the plastic liner and gone through that
+Shane Pitts I did go through the plastic liner. I drilled 3 holes and fished the wires! Thanks for watching!
AdventureDex I meant just pull that whole plastic out so you aren't drilling in the sheet metal plus then you can use actual hardware
Great man 👍
Fancy Mall Crawler!
how do i connect my control box to the fuse box?
how do you connect the lights to the battery?
he wired into the switch box under the hood.if you don't use a switch
Can you do it in my 2019 JL Wrangler
Where did you get that grille?
+Fsx_Master I have a full video on the grille!! Check the channel, thanks for watching
www.altitudejeep.com
Has them
i like it !
+MsLeelee94 Thank you
Hey man where are you from?
Billy Bob Thorton He’s from Persia
What LOL no am not
Ohh shit my bad!
😂👍🏼
I thought you can't have red lights or blue because of the police?
Still no winner for the shade top ......
+Brandon Winters Video hasn’t dropped yet! Been so busy working on the jeep!! It will come soon!
Still no tire sponsor?
Did you miss the tires at the beginning of the video?? :p Thanks for watching!
He didn’t even show how he hooked up the electrical
Neil from GTA. That was too cool. You can't POSSIBLY be a real Jeeper! ROTFLMAO. I'd give you 10 likes if I could.
+Talez From the DashCam haha glad you liked it! 😜😜
Definitely! Nice cameo appearance! glad yinz guys connected! again, I think you guyz could show up at the Bantam Heritage Jeep festival next year. It would be a great promo! BTW I am not affiliated with it. I just live near there.
+Talez From the DashCam Yah for sure!!!
Anyone else think it was kinda dumb to mount those lights on the lowest surface of the bumper?
Yah, great point! You live and you learn!
The install with wire ties is wack. Why not do it right?
I thought this is a GTA V video😂😂😂🤦🏻♂️
10:10 if you just wanna see the lights come on.
😉
You didn’t show how you sip them under the back doors ! There isn’t an option
are the lights mud proof? lol
+josejr1594 Yes they should hold up okay! I’ll update the video if they don’t! Thanks for watching!!
😎👍👌
Thanks!!!
ROCK lights behind the grille...
Wonder what rocks he is pointing them at 😅
ROTFLMFAO.....😂
those little wheels and tires look crappy
Too tacky imo. Would never install them.
