Absolutely correct Justin. I have seen just about all the great guitarists except Hendrix live. They all have and had incredible dynamics within their playing, tone and performance. You just don’t see it today. There are probably more guitar virtuoso’s today than ever but few have the dynamic you’re discussing. Page was the best live guitarist I’ve ever seen. He set the bench mark in the 70’s and it still is.
That middle position tone is my favorite Jimmy page tone. So good. Most players go either bridge OR neck pickup. He lives in that middle position and adjusts the volume and tone all show long and gets tremendous dynamics. This is from Earl's Court in May of 1975. A great bunch of shows and many of the full concerts are on RUclips. Cheers.
Heroin is a hell of a drug… joke aside, he’s my first inspiration to play guitar then with Jimi Hendrix’s life performance at Berkeley I was sure I wanted to work my ass off to play guitar!
No doubt that Jimi's live performance @Berkeley is an inspirational piece of work. But, for me it was Jimi's guitar playing @Monterey that hooked this young punk kid in wanting to become a 6 string slinger rocking out like Hendrix. As far as I'm concerned Jimi's performance @Monterey was when he was still raw & silly having an intimate connection with his fans in the crowd. Before Hendrix became frustrated with being Hendrix in the spotlight then after. Don't get it twisted, both live performances along with a few others are kick-azz in their own right, for sure. I just really dig Jimi @Monterey over the rest, but that's just me. Although I'd go out on a limb to say you're probably hip to Hendrix @Monterey already. It wouldn't hurt to check it out again, right? 🤔 +++Peace Funk & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend+++ 🤘😜🤘
Hi justin i love this new series its amazing really 🤟🤟❤️🤘🤘🎸🌟i love your music and your channel its amazing really i think when i come in Nashville at honky tonk school i play the Europe the final countdown and songs of pink floyd 🤘🤘🤟🤟❤️🤘🤘🎸🎸
As far as I'm concerned Jimmy's best guitar solo was his live performance of "Since I've Been Loving You" @MSG. AKA The Song Remains The Same concert film. Just saying...
Eddie said that, but according to the book Van Halen Rising, he got tapping from a friend/rival player, Terry Kilgore who took a couple lessons from Canned Heat guitarist Harvey Mandel after (he or a friend had been) doing some work on his house and noticed the gold records on the wall. The whole story is described in the book in detail. Eddie did a lot to obscure how he got his sound and so on.
If you want to see an even more direct influence from pages playing, check out jimmy’s guitar solo section from the 77 tour bootlegs, the ones at the forum are the best, but he does the pickup selector trick riff thing we will later see Eddie using
There are so many technically great players nowadays, but too many are amps on 10 and 1000 notes per minute 😂 Instead of a show for the people, its a "show off" for themselves.

You are so right about lack of dynamics in music today!

Authenticity has unfortunately faded in most facets of modern society

that was an unbelievable solo and show
Great solo. No Quarter from MSG is excellent too.
I’m pretty sure Eddie Van Halen started tapping after seeing Page play this live.

If you noticed the one part, his toggle switch was in the middle and he was getting a “Tele” sound doing some chicken picking!! 🐓
