My cart is 48v, one difference I did was to plug in the cart charger and turn it on and then charge one battery at a time for 15 minutes with a 12v charger until the cart 48v charger was satisfied and started charging and then disconnected the 12 v charger. The 48v charger started the moment I turned the 12v charger on the 3rd battery. I then let it continue to charge with the 48v chargerThank you, Martin
Super good advice. Thank you so very much. My dealer told me that I had to bring my golf cart into his shop to fix the problem. He told me there were no other way to fix it, because my golf cart ran down too low to charge it myself at home. Well, I tried your way, and wow, thank goodness, it worked. Now, I have to find me an honest golf cart dealers, because the one I was using is a ripoff. Thank you so much for your wonderful...and yes, money saving advice. Yes, Sir, you just saved me a crap load of money.
I feel grateful this reconditioning program ruclips.net/user/postUgkxcJ22tnHH9l1vjdIdEIG27iOG55P7LXI8 was started. I had Three dead batteries scheduled for disposing of. Having said that, I tried out reconditioning them and it took me only an hour to do it! It doesn`t matter what type of battery you want, the process works.
Man this guy just saved me from getting rid of my EZ-GO. I accidentally left it out overnight (hadn't used it in a while) and it rained. Next day I went out to move my cart in and it was DEAD. I plugged in the charger....NOTHING. I was getting ready to put it up on Craigslist to sell as is and I ran over this video....WOW!!!! Great job and thanks for the help.
Got back from Vacation and the batteries were so dead they would not charge... This video not only taught why the automatic charger would not re-charge the cart batteries, but also a quick and in-expensive fix....THANKS SO MUCH..!!!
I tried what you said on my 4 -12volt batteries today. Topped off with distilled water, charged each battery for a 1/2 hour and now the regular charger works. Now I have power again. Thank you so much!! You saved me $1600!
You're still providing a great service 12 years later! This seems so simple and common sense, yet I did not realize I could do this. I'm still relatively new to golf cart ownership, and I don't use it often. I usually keep my batteries charged and topped off, but this is the second time now that they've gotten too low for the charger to read. This video was clear and took the intimidation out of the process. Thank you! By the way I have a Melex which means it's at least 30 years old since they haven't been sold in the U.S. since 1992.
hey ,if anyone else wants to learn about how to recondition batteries try Renkarter Rapid Renew Report (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my buddy got great success with it.
I recently got the EZ Battery Reconditioning program and just reconditioned two car batteries. The guides were very easy to follow [Check Details Here==> HootBattery.xyz ]. I wish I would have found this years ago! Thanks!?
I used this yesterday, and it saved me. Now the volt-meter is now Blinky-blinky. Mine is solid and not easily removable. Is there a way to disconnect positive ay the batter point to reset the led meter?
This instructional video is top notch. My charger on my 30+ years golf cart wasn't working. I got advice up the Ying yang about what could be wrong. None of which had anything to do with the problem. I did exactly as instructed here and it worked! Thank you!!!!
To add to what I just said: Oh WoW!!! ....THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! My batteries are only a year old but I did not leave them connected to my charger over the winter so they are completely dead! I can do this myself since you demonstrated it for me, and I won't have to buy a new charger! Again I thank you so much!
This worked perfectly. I fell in love with your video. It was clear and concise and easy to do. I just can't thank you enough. I'm an elderly woman and I need my cart to move mulch and soil and anything heavy. Thank you again and again.
Oh thank god I found this. We let the gcart sit for 6 months no activity. Water was in batteries and nothing comes on. We called a place that said it needed a hot jump?? $150 and we thought hmmmmm must be like a battery jump on a car. AND HERE YOU ARE! Thank you thank you, we will try this tomorrow. Awesomeness👍
I think you just saved me $1,500 The cart mechanics in this area are crooks and constantly take advantage of customers. Can't wait to roll into their shop & show them how much I don't need them. Thanks sooo much!
I tried it and it didn’t work. I decided to try agin the next day charging each battery a little longer and it worked. The golf charger came on as expected. Thank you very much for the instructions!
I was able to use your method with a jump starter type battery. My battery pack automatically cuts off at 90 seconds. I charged each pair twice. I plugged in the cart charger and IT WORKED!!! Thank you very much.
Well Jack this worked for me. Thank you. I did use my Craftsman charger, at the 10 amp setting on each battery individually for a half hour each. Then used my Yamaha 48 volt charger, to complete the charging process. Still took nearly 24 hours to charge tho. I will be bringing my cart home during the winters just so I can occasionally give the batteries a mid winter charge. Thanks again. ps my batteries are only 5 years old. This advice saved me!
It is very nice of you sir.to offer your knowledge to complete strangers. It really makes me angry when I go into a store or a repair shop to buy a part and they play dumb. Basically because they are afraid they might not get the repair business if they help a customer to be able to do it themselves with a little info. Especially if there are avoidable pitfalls or traps that may harm other parts if care is not taken. Man that's the worst! And it destroys faith in mankind or human kind, (since I'm a woman.). if they let you drive right off the cliff into a pitfall.
When attempting to charge at 12 amps, relay kept triggering on any bank arrangement. Thought for sure the batteries were done, but it also made me think of my gels on my motorcycle which have to be brought back gradually if completely discharged. Used two amp (trickle) and each bank took about eight hours, but they did all come back and are now charging off the carts charger above 15 amp. Very relieved.
Oh WoW!!! ....THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! My batteries are only a year old but I did not leave them connected to my charger over the winter so they are completely dead! I can do this myself since you demonstrated it for me, and I won't have to buy a new charger! Again I thank you so much!
I am having this issue right now and thought that I was having a major issue with my cart. Thank you for this information as I believe this will solve my problem.
Thank you, sir, for posting this video. I discovered why a Battery Tender low voltage charger is an excellent piece of equipment to buy and use while my golf cart is in storage.
In the Case if you no Longer have original 36v charger. Can you use a regular 12v battery charger as your main charger. Charging 2 batteries at a time?
Hey so I just tried this trick I only left the charger on the batteries long enough for it to cycle on /off twice and....charger is on and I'm back in business , great trick, great video
I have an old EZGo Workhorse and I watched this video which seemed to fit the problem I was having (charger wouldn’t even turn on). It had been months between charges. I bought a little duralast 8amp charger and briefly charges the 3pairs of batteries (30mins each pair) and then plugged in the ezgo 36v charger. Boom, ezgo charger now turns on!!!
Worked great.....saved $600 but don't think you can just charge 2 batteries...you need to do them all before the cart charged will kick in Many thanks....
I charged my batteries 36 volt series until I had a little over 6 volts in each one. When I plug in my power wise charger it only reads 4 amps. Do I need to charge batteries more? Or is there another problem?
When the charger has gone through its cycle should the meter read 0 on the index. And if it is on 0 does that mean the battery bank has received a full charge and the batteries are good and charged. My ezgo has had no problems in 6 years of charging. Now 2 trips out to the garden and it has to be tolled back and charged. Also I charged it overnight, earlier today I unplugged the charger and plugged it back in The charger turned on and the needle went back over to the normal start point right of center 14 -15. Thanks
I have the Same Kind of set up , I removed the Batteries in the Fall and put them back in today hooked them up the Same Way as before but when i go to hook the Positive or the Negative Cables Up Which ever comes last i am getting a huge arch ... Is there something i am doing wrong i cant figure out the Problem ?? I would appreciate any help
Jack i have a 2010 cc and have been told that if my batteries go to low, i need to have someone with a genisus jumper come out and "kick start it" with a special charger to reset the computer, before my cart will take a charge again--i ve been using your method on my old cart for many years, with great success , ,but with the new cart it wont start to recharge without a "jump first" Do you know of ay way to by pass this
Be careful, although this works great on the surface and will get your golf cart working again to a point but there is a long term problem that will destroy your batteries if not addressed. When batteries are so low that they won't activate a smart charger they will be in desperate need of a balance charge and a saturation charge. By individually charging isolated 12v pairs of batteries in series you create a situation of the batteries not having a balanced charge even when the golf car charger takes over. Because its a series connection the individual batteries wont all necessarily read the same voltage, the sum of their individual voltages will be correct but the problem is in this state they will overcharge and undercharge individual batteries. To check that your bank is balanced, hook up your golf cart charger and use a multimeter to test each batteries individual voltage when the batteries are over halfway charged. You must take the reading of each battery while they are on charge and write the value on a piece of paper. If they all read exactly the same voltage or very close to each other like 6.73v each + or - 0.05v then the bank is balanced, if there is more than a 0.1v difference then you know they need balancing. For example if individual batteries in the bank reads 6.70v, 6.54v, 6,91v etc then you have a problem and it needs to be fixed. Fixing it is quite simple, disconnect all your batteries, take them out if you can, and connect them all in parallel, I:E positive to positive and negative to negative. Then charge the whole bank with a 6v charger for 36 hours. This will allow your whole bank to equalise and get a much needed saturation charge in the process. After that you are done and will prevent long term damage to your batteries. With series connections its good to check every few months if your bank is balanced to keep your batteries fat and happy.
my 48 volt golf cart battery woudnot charge just charging 1 at a time to charge battery I had to go from the postive of 1 battery to negative of another battery set charger at 10 amps this worked
I recently got a used ezgo and I have the same charger you have in this video. My amp meter barely gets off of zero when it is trying to charge. I have had it charging for about 24 hours and the needle has not moved. Is that an indication that the batteries need to be charged like you have done here? I have not had the batteries tested yet
I replaced all my batteries at once last summer. It ran for a couple hours and shut down. My charger 48 volt is good, had it checked. But it will not charge my batteries. The needle does not move at all. What could possible stop my charger from charging my batteries?
I have to ask, because the video like this one told me not to take the batteries apart... which i did with the first two, then i tried to do the next 2 and it fried my car charger and it zapped my car charger and it was smoking.. so im thinking i shouuld take 2 at a time unplugged???
Hi. How do I do that to the 48 volt club car if I connect two batteries that will be 24 volt total I only have a 12volt battery charger. Please help thanks.
I just purchased a used Club Car which was without a charger. I am far in a dessert so it will take awhile to get a new charger. In the mean time I can get a car battery charger. My question: I have 6 batteries each with 3 holes which means 36 volts (right?). But each round end Club Car charger I find is for a 48 volt system. Can I plug a 48 volt charger into this 36 volt system? Did I not figure my system correctly or has this Club Car been modified or wrong batteries installed? Thank you for your help.
I charged my 48 volt that my grandpa gave me that had sat up for at least a year . Disconnect all battery leads . Take a picture before doing this . An I charged each battery on 12volt 200 amp crank amp for 12 hrs and add water if needed. The 3rd day it almost took off with out me . Been holding a charge ever since!
Session at 1993 easy go 36 V well card. Seminal replaced the batteries and placed the two connections from the motor on negative post in the battery bank is this correct if you could answer I think you
Hi man,i have a 48V system golfcart that run out of juice,it's made up of 6 pcs 8V batteries, now my question is,can i do the same procedure usign a 12V automotive charger?thanks
fact or fiction? (1) replacing 1 battery instead of them all causes the automatic charger to shut off as soon as the new battery is fully charged therefore not charging the other, older, batteries to their fullest extent. (2) if you replace no batteries but you have 1 or more batteries that are less that adequate due to whatever reason does the automatic charger shut off when the adequate batteries are fully charged therefore leaving the others not fully charged? the video about manual charging the batteries is very informative. thank you
I did the same thing. I found 2 batteries that showed 16 volts. Then I put my 12v charger on them for a few minutes. I have a volt meter on my club car and it was at 9 volts. When I put the charger on it it quickly went up to 25 volts and my charger kicked on. FYI I had my charger plugged in while I was charging my batteries.
On 8V batteries, you can use a 12V charger on one battery at a time or two in series. If you do one at a time be sure to put your charger on a low amperage setting and do it only for a short amount of time each.
I too, had this problem and thanks to you & your video it was corrected. I found your instructions to be very precise for my application with a '06 Club Car Precedent. Thank you for sharing this instructional video & your knowledge. I have added my name to your Subscription. W. L . Anas
OKAY, I just wanted to be clear that it's not a problem charging an 8 volt battery individually with a 12 volt charger? That won't do any damage to the battery or charger? p/s great video.
Mike Sr. Mike did it work because mine is doing the same thing after a long winter i had my charger on but htink my husband at one pt took them off now they do not light up
k CARVING K Carving, this worked for me, see reply above :) Just be sure to connect Pos to Pos and neg to neg, as some batteries may be reversed. Yes my Yamaha charger lights were all flashing initially. but after charging each battery individually with the car charger for a half hour, then using the cart charger, the lights showed it was charging. And after probably 18 hours the lights showed green. (Charged). :) Saved Me.
now my charger is flashing instead of steady green does htis mean i might be getting closer .they also gave me a 48 volt charger for each cart which is 36 volts ,but i have seenthe charger sut off when it reaches charge maybe i have them type
I have 2010 Tomberlin that was really slow the other day (14mph max instead of usual 24mph). I connected the charger, but in the morning the cart was completely dead. Batteries are only 3 month old and when I test them one by one, each and every one reads 8.6V. Tomberlin manual says if any battery is under 9.3V, it should be replaced. Do you think my batteries are faulty and should be replaced or at 8.6V batteries are fine? Thanks
+Zundfolge1432 just looked up your model. you have 6 of the 8 volt batteries. So having said that, your batteries are not charged fully or defective, assuming your battery voltage measuring device is accurate and not reading low. Lead acid batteries will read slightly above their rated value when fully charged. I would try to charge each battery and make sure they are fully charged before testing them. Also possable your charger is not working properly. I would measure each batteries voltage while the charger is on also, this will indicate if the battery is getting sufficient charge from the charger.
+Kimberly Brook 9.3V? That seems off (too high). The only time an 8V battery should read close to 9.3V is either at the tail end of a charge or immediately after a full and good charge but that should settle to about 8.5V after setting for a few hours after a good successful full charge.

You've said this on multiple videos...
My cart is 48v, one difference I did was to plug in the cart charger and turn it on and then charge one battery at a time for 15 minutes with a 12v charger until the cart 48v charger was satisfied and started charging and then disconnected the 12 v charger. Great advice. I did the same thing and within a short time my GC charger kicked on.
Super good advice. Thank you so very much.

So far the BEST instructional video on how to charge up a cart with great explanations of why and how. Thanks for making this.
He is 100% correct. Having a Golf cart company for 12 years this IS THE RIGHT WAY to charge a very low battery.
hey ,if anyone else wants to learn about how to recondition batteries try Renkarter Rapid Renew Report (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my buddy got great success with it.

Wow! I was disconnecting each battery and charging each 6 Volt battery. Better system --and no disconnecting each battery. Thank You!! 5 Stars!!
I think you just saved me $1,500
The cart mechanics in this area are crooks and constantly take advantage of customers.

Old be relay in charger also
My question is: Do you leave your cart charger on all the time? Or, if not, how often do you hook it up and let it recharge again?
It is very nice of you sir.to offer your knowledge to complete strangers. It really makes me angry when I go into a store or a repair shop to buy a part and they play dumb. The best (by far) explanation on this maintenance procedure. Very grateful, thank you.

First, thanks for the video, I bet this is my issue. Second, how many amps are you running your 12V charger for that hour? Thanks
Are new batteries charged when I buy them? Or would I have to do this process?
I am having this issue right now and thought that I was having a major issue with my cart. Thank you for this information as I believe this will solve my problem.
Thank you, sir, for posting this video. I discovered why a Battery Tender low voltage charger is an excellent piece of equipment to buy and use while my golf cart is in storage.

In the Case if you no Longer have original 36v charger. Can you use a regular 12v battery charger as your main charger. Charging 2 batteries at a time?
Hey so I just tried this trick I only left the charger on the batteries long enough for it to cycle on /off twice and....charger is on and I'm back in business , great trick, great video
if i have 4 12v batteries in my rxv ergo, then i put the charger leads of each battery individually right? I can i still leave them all hooked up? Thx
You are tremendous in your explanations. So thorough and easy to follow. Thank you very much . !
What about if you have 48 volt cart...can you charge the two 8 volt batteries with a 12 volt battery charger?
On my cart which is 48 volt. 6x8 setup. How long should my batteries last from new with light but somewhat regular use for short 2 mile trips?
Some people like me are nuts enough not to understand all the details about golf cars. Is good that u are very knowlegable about it!
I have an old EZGo Workhorse and I watched this video which seemed to fit the problem I was having (charger wouldn’t even turn on). It had been months between charges. thanks for posting; very clear, concise explanation. This is a good way of "slowly waking up" discharged batteries.
I charged my batteries 36 volt series until I had a little over 6 volts in each one. When I plug in my power wise charger it only reads 4 amps. Do I need to charge batteries more? Or is there another problem?

What if I don't have a batter charger?
What type of charger is everyone using to revive the dead batteries before hooking up the golf cart charger?
If I have 2 12v charges, is it possible to charge 2 banks at once? Or will this cause issues?
Jack i have a 2010 cc and have been told that if my batteries go to low, i need to have someone with a genisus jumper come out and "kick start it" with a special charger to reset the computer, before my cart will take a charge again--i ve been using your method on my old cart for many years, with great success , ,but with the new cart it wont start to recharge without a "jump first" Do you know of ay way to by pass this
New to golf carts, this is EXACTLY the info I needed. Thank you very much for your time and effort.
Be careful, although this works great on the surface and will get your golf cart working again to a point but there is a long term problem that will destroy your batteries if not addressed. When batteries are so low that they won't activate a smart charger they will be in desperate need of a balance charge and a saturation charge.

After that you are done and will prevent long term damage to your batteries.
With series connections its good to check every few months if your bank is balanced to keep your batteries fat and happy.
Or you could just get a decent digital/smart charger, and charge the 12v banks fully with said charger.
Add distilled water to your batteries?
if i have two chargers, can i charge two sets of batteries at a time? to save time?
Best job of explaining this procedure. Thank you!
Using a 12 volt charger what amps should it be set at
Is it ok to put it in tow/maintenance when charging
my 48 volt golf cart battery woudnot charge just charging 1 at a time to charge battery I had to go from the postive of 1 battery to negative of another battery set charger at 10 amps this worked
Perfect video and exactly what I needed. Thank you for posting this.
At what amp? Charge for 30mins then one hour then another hour. 2amp, 10amp?
Thank you for taking the time to help us less fortunate (in the common sense area).

Can we use a 12volt charger to charge 6volt batteries
Hi. How do I do that to the 48 volt club car if I connect two batteries that will be 24 volt total I only have a 12volt battery charger. Please help thanks.
Question on the main leads from the motor does the connection go to a positive side of the first battery and a negative side of the last battery.
if you have to replace one battery can you do just that and still run it properly? The post on one of the batteries broke off.
Thank you for your help.
if I have 4 low batteries and possible 2 dead batteries will a manual charge bring them back up
I charged my 48 volt that my grandpa gave me that had sat up for at least a year . Disconnect all battery leads . Take a picture before doing this . An I charged each battery on 12volt 200 amp crank amp for 12 hrs and add water if needed. The 3rd day it almost took off with out me . Been holding a charge ever since!
Thank you, Sir! Just saved me from going and spending alot of money. Worked Perfect!
Thank you, this was just what I needed.
What is the voltage needed in batteries to start charger
Thank you, sir; exactly what I needed. Explained very clearly!
Thanks - that did the trick. It doesn't take much for my 7 year old batteries! to go under the minimum charge (3 weeks).
Thank you very much. Right to the point. (no bs) good information. exactly what I was looking for.
fact or fiction? (1) replacing 1 battery instead of them all causes the automatic charger to shut off as soon as the new battery is fully charged therefore not charging the other, older, batteries to their fullest extent. (2) if you replace no batteries but you have 1 or more batteries that are less that adequate due to whatever reason does the automatic charger shut off when the adequate batteries are fully charged therefore leaving the others not fully charged? the video about manual charging the batteries is very informative. thank you
Thank you so much for this informative step-by-step video!
Chris Hansen thank you!!!
This vidio saved me 1000 dollars. Thank you 😊
Do you do the same thing with 8 volt batteries
That's what I am also trying to figure out-- can't find the info for 48v systems anywhere!
Thank You so much. I learned a lot. My golf cart is now charging properly
Need help .. Do I need to plug the charger in at all times ??? Thanks for the help ***
Thank you, this was just what I needed.
What if it does nothing? Tested the charger and everything. Does nothing when I put the charger on. 12v 6a setting
I too, had this problem and thanks to you & your video it was corrected. I found your instructions to be very precise for my application with a '06 Club Car Precedent. Thank you for sharing this instructional video & your knowledge. I have added my name to your Subscription.

OKAY, I just wanted to be clear that it's not a problem charging an 8 volt battery individually with a 12 volt charger? That won't do any damage to the battery or charger?
p/s great video.
Thank you for the advice. I was thinking that either my charger was no good, or the batteries were shot. Will try this.
We did exactly what you said, it worked like a charm. thank you ,thank you, thank you!
Exactly what I needed. Thank you!!
what do i set the battery charger to? 6v 6a 12v 2a or 12v 6a? The golf cart is a 36 volt.
Thanks
+Kimberly Brook how many batteries? 8 (6 volt) batteries or 6 (6 volt ) batteries
+Zundfolge1432 How would a 6V battery read 8.6V? Of course they are 8V batteries. Did you even have to ask?
+Kimberly Brook 9.3V? That seems off (too high). The only time an 8V battery should read close to 9.3V is either at the tail end of a charge or immediately after a full and good charge but that should settle to about 8.5V after setting for a few hours after a good successful full charge.
Does this work with 8 volt batteries?
Thank you sir …. I’m going out now to give it a shot
Thank you for your info that helped me a lot
Just what I needed to know.....thank you for this tutorial
Thank you so kindly for the information. Great video
How to know if my golf cart use a 6volt battery or 8volt??
Thank you so much for that valuable information and clear instructions! :)
Awesome explanation...and even better 'stache!! Thanks!!
$3000 Tip right there.
Thank u Sir
