  • Designer Hussein Chalayan's Paris Fashion Week show featured a catwalk shower that dissolved a pair of soluble outfits, revealing delicate garments underneath.
    The presentation of melting clothes was part of the Chalayan Spring Summer 2016 show, which took place in the Salle Melpomène at Paris' Palais des Beaux-Arts earlier today.
    Two models wearing white thigh-length jackets stood on small podiums within a large tray-like area in the centre of the catwalk. A low portion of ceiling was punctured by holes positioned above the models.
    As water poured down through the gaps, the clothes began to disintegrate and fall away as if made from tissue.
    The dresses revealed underneath were patterned with lines of thick black stitching and appliqué white petal shapes, each of which had clear jewels attached below.

    If I had to walk in those heels after it got wet, obviously I would have sprained my ankle. Mad respect.

    You think the models enjoy this? Most runway models I see look exceedingly bored or dislike what they're wearing.

      Shows like these aren’t to advertise commercial clothing it’s an art show moreover, and the models are just part of the art so any expression they make is just part of the show(they were most likely told what expressions to make ) don’t look into it or make assumptions.

      @@arielturner3932 I'm not making assumptions, I just wasn't sure if some of their faces were like an "I didn't know this is what I signed up for" type of look or if it's just what they do.

      they typically have neutral/bored facial expressions because it's their job to be moving mannequins and sell the clothes/brand, not themselves. whether they like the clothes or not doesn't matter.

      most of the high fashion outfits are not wearable clothes, it’s just there to impress, inspire and to get the brand/designer attention and make other brands/companies or whatever work with them. 😄

    • @candiceejones
      @candiceejones 2 года назад +2

      it's basically an art show to promote the brand. a lot of the times what you see walk down the runway is 'dulled down' to be more wearable by the time the new collection is available to buy.

    What I think I'm seeing here is evidence that the fashion world really has lost it's marbles. The effect may have worked a little bit better if you used a hydrophobic fabric for the under-dress. Then again... the girls would probably still look like they just escaped a sinking cruise ship and just made it to shore. Take a pretty girl, then make her prance around stage like a drowned rat.
