Oh mine were really different. Like, girls talked, but like, they were excited to have their period and cheers other girls they had their first. (Another normal day in France, or in Moselle, I guess XD) The just didn't like to talk about it around boys (because they were really annoying), but I remember one time, at lunch, i had my periods and there was a boy with us. We forgot him, and then he said "You have your periods?" and we were ther like "oh, hell no.." and then, he said, enlightful "WOW, that's so cool ! "
I was 6-7 (in first grade) Before anyone asks if I'm dying. No. I just have something called PCOS so unfortunately I started everything early. And I remember in first grade I pulled a pad out of my backpack and a boy saw me and screamed to the entire class that I wear diapers and I almost started crying and tried to tell him it is a pad and tried explaining it and he just yelled "no that's a diaper you wear diapers"
Typically if you get it that young they'd put you on puberty blockers since that's called precocious puberty. Even with PCOS I ended up getting mine a little later than that at 9 so that wouldn't have ever been an option for me. Of course idk if it was common for puberty blockers when you got yours or even if it was accessible. Also I'm so sorry, little kids are so brutal to each other. My 5th grade teacher was great about it and made a little pouch of products I could grab to take to the bathroom with me when I needed to since I was the first one. If only we could all be so lucky 🥲
@anastasiaarmitage yeah, personally I felt like id have gotten taller if I didn't get mine at 9 🥲 I kept thinking I'd grow more but nah, I stopped growing after 5th or 6th grade.
I was ten when I got mine. I remember that feeling of just not not wanting to be on this planet anymore if this is gonna happen every month. I felt so betrayed.
I was also 9 then but was turning 10 in less a week. It was quite tough being the first one to get my period in my grade. Pretty clumsy in dealing with leaks and often got teased by the boys. But still glad that my girl classmates were always willing to help and defend me despite not getting their period yet.
Goodness getting ur period form 8-9 seems so hard I would be so forgetful and messy, I didn’t even like taking showers at that age😭 I salute women out there who went through that
@@freyaaa324 What my mom did was teach me at a young age bc she new I was going to get mines early, it runs in the family. At two years old she had already started teaching me and that was liter the best thing she could have done because I would have been confused especially because i was young.
I was 9 😅 Only girl in my class, but I had a super nice teacher who let me leave the room without asking, if I needed to go change. That way I didn't need to deal with the potential embarrassment of bleeding through. My male teachers on the other hand, were not as kind.
Getting your period before age nine is called precocious (early) puberty Most girls start their periods when they're about 12, but they can start as early as 8, so it's important to talk to girls from an early age to make sure they're prepared. Respond to questions or opportunities as they arise and do not be embarrassed. What age would you think is the best to tell them and some kids can become a lil bit traumatised by a period
Got mine when i was 11 and got really scared because I thought that there was something wrong with me when I was having it for several days. I thought it was only supposed to be one day 💀💀 I was so relieved when I talked to my best friend about it and she told me it usually was supposed to last for longer than one day. I really encourage you to talk about it with people you feel confortable with! It helped me so much and I got rid of so many worries. I also remember that I felt really ashamed because I felt like I could not talk about it with my mom and used toilet paper the first year. Do not be ashamed for telling a person you trust when you get your first period. This is a natural thing that happens to all of us with a uterus!
I got mine at 10. I remember I was wearing these sky blue pants and was in art class 😭. My mom had taught me about periods before so I knew immediately what had happened. I put my jacket around my waist and continued on with my day. 😅 I got home and told my mom and she got me a pad and told me how to put it on and told me my tummy would hurt and to tell her when it did. And oh boy I was not ready to hear that it wouldn’t go away forever after the first week 😂
It’s crazy the ages people get their periods, I have a friend that’s currently in a long distance relationship with me and she got hers at 8 years old, I thought it was only the period but she said it was puberty too. Her breasts started to develop and she looked a lot older. The best thing to do with a friend like that (in my opinion) is to comfort them and be the best friend you can.
I feel her I also had gotten my period at 9 and had started developing early by the time I was 12 people thought I was in high school. It sucks but you can't really do anything about it sadly. 😕
Same I legit started getting boobs and my period and stuff when I was 8.. and my family never let me have moment where they didn’t say dirty things about my body and made me feel insecure or uncomfortable
I was literally 7, and getting told what a period was, what it means, just because my mom saw that I was growing up and maturing a lot faster than the rest of my classmates, and people my age. I ended up getting my period when I was 9, just a bit after my birthday. Thankfully I wasn't that surpirised. I still cried and everything, but I knew what was happening so it wasn't like I was scared...there was just a lot of blood.
Had a false start at 10. Then a year later it started. It's good and necessary to share a normal part of life, there shouldn't be any taboo regarding periods.
Fr- I got mines when I was around 7-8 and I remember telling my mum and I literally thought I was dying I was freaking tf out, then my mum had to sit me down and tell me what was happening 😂😂 Though it did suck a lot I felt not normal to all the other girls bc nobody at my age had got it then. It was also very hard to deal with the pain at that age bc I was very bad at that as a child so going to school was hell too, luckily at the primary school I used to go to the let you take your bags to the bathroom. 😅
I was 13. it wasn't traumatic. I just hollered to my mom from the bathroom and she had already saved up various sample pads for me that came in the mail. so I got to figure out what brand to buy lol. do periods suck? yes. but it wasn't like a Carrie moment.
I just remember waking up and going to the bathroom and saw it and told my mom in the most calmest voice and she was excited for some odd reason. I got it when I was 14 so I guess she would’ve gotten worried if it hadn’t started by then. Tbh it’s not that bad
Education about the female body is great for all at a young age because it can be scary when you are bleeding and you don’t understand why. Thankfully I understood it when I got my period at 10 yo and knew to ask my mother for a pad.
Fr i literally sat down on the day of my school play and started crying all my friends were wondering what happened and my female teacher eventually figured it out
When I got mine for the first time at age 10, I was utterly terrified. I thought I might be ill. 😂 In addition, when I got mine, my mother was working abroad. Thank goodness my aunts and grandmother were there.
Same I thought I was going to die cause I ignored it the day I actually got it until the next day when zi thought I was dying, my mom even freaked out.
I got mine at the same age when being home alone and my parents on a long trip. My grandma wasn't there at the moment and I was SO TERRIFIED. I phoned my mom thinking that it's really serious but my dad was the one to pick up. He didn't know what to say - even more he was so baffled. Well, can't blame him. After a while my cousin came and started explaining and gave me a pad. Wouldn't remember that if it wasn't for my dad reaction. Also it was April Fools day so the thought I might be joking - my cousin checked my pad to see if it's true.
As someone who also got their period at 9 I am so grateful that my mom explained to me what periods were early on cause otherwise I would have thought that I was dying lol
I got mine when I was 10 (on my birthday). Nobody explained to me what period was, but I've heard of it and has seen pad commercials. We've got lots of pads at home so I just used it. My mother was actually surprised since I told her I was on my period after 3 days... I was chill about it starting, but had a hard time understanding when to change my pads and frequently had period leaks. 😅
My mom didn't tell me bcz she had her period in 17 so she thought I will have it around that age also that's why she didn't tell me. But I hade mine at 9 and I really thought I was dying 😶
Got mine at 9. God bless my older sister, as I was with her at home and the biology class back then. That very first time was amazing and non scary at all, as she told me what to do in a nice and casual way.
my dumbass got my first period at 10 years old, and I fr just ignored the blood (because I was confused af and it wasnt a lot, yet) until the next morning in which I asked my grandma about it, then realized I just got my period. the dumbest thing I did as a child fr

Siempre lleva toallas femeninas contigo, por que de todas formas se puede adelantar tu periodo por cuestiones como estres, etc…
Im glad you’re able to talk about it! I got mine at 10 and was super scared to talk about it for a long time but now I’m 17 and it doesn’t even embarrass me anymore! Just hang in there tho it can be a bumpy ride but it gets better

Got mine @ 10, my mom already told me to expect this once I was pubescent, so I didn’t freak, just told her to hurry downstairs. She was more scared than I was, but we prepared a pad bag together and everything was fine 😊
the first time I got my period I was 9 and in summer camp. I went to one of the instructors in tears saying "I think I'm dying (name) there's blood in my underwear" She had to assure me I wasn't dying, and then she brought me to the camp nurse for my issue to be temporarily taken care of then my mom had to come pick me up cause I didn't have extra clothes and I was very uncomfortable.
Same, I also got mine when I was that age. I remember I hide it from my friends until graduation day because none of them had gotten their menstruation yet. It was an embarrassing thing, especially there was this 9 yo girl who was bullied by the seniors because of it. Poor little fella😢
@@iamgorgeous omg I'm so sorry that happened to you. I hate that people think it's something to be embarrassed of, it's a normal thing for girls. I got mine at 12. My mom got hers at 18. She was diagnosed with end stage renal failure at the age of 12 and got her first period as a young adult. After that, she had very intermittent and irregular periods that ranged from one day to two weeks and every couple of months to twice a year. She was on dialysis three days a week. It was a miracle she even got pregnant. She was told she was infertile at the age of 13. I was born when she was 29 and I was extremely premature.
Got mine when I was 7 due to PCOS. My mom had to have a mandatory meeting with the school because teachers refused to let me use the bathroom to change my pad because they didn’t believe I started my period yet.
I remember I was 13-14 when I got my first period. All the things came into my mind whatever I heard from my elders told me about. I felt extremely proud that day. And as per rituals, I spent 7 days in a room. Many relatives came to visit me, with tasty lunch boxes (our ritual) . Then on 7th day, we went to temple. 😊😊😊
I acted like I was in a spy movie, trying to avoid my dad and brother untill I could text my mom. I already knew what it was and my family is very open minded so there would be no problem asking my dad for guidance, but it freaked me out and I just went Ethan Hunt mode
That is why you should educate kids since they are quite young about this . They find it gross , keep on playing and don' t think a lot about it till later in life if they are lucky to get it later , but if her or a friend gets their period early , they won' t be scared.

@hanamachii_ got mine that young too, didnt go on puberty blockers since we were told its unhealthy, now im 10 and got the body of a woman 😅😭

Getting your period before age nine is called precocious (early) puberty
Most girls start their periods when they're about 12, but they can start as early as 8, so it's important to talk to girls from an early age to make sure they're prepared. Respond to questions or opportunities as they arise and do not be embarrassed.
What age would you think is the best to tell them and some kids can become a lil bit traumatised by a period
yeah i had precocious puberty :/

I really encourage you to talk about it with people you feel confortable with! It helped me so much and I got rid of so many worries. I also remember that I felt really ashamed because I felt like I could not talk about it with my mom and used toilet paper the first year. Do not be ashamed for telling a person you trust when you get your first period. This is a natural thing that happens to all of us with a uterus!

I got mine at 8 and it literally ruined the rest of my childhood😭💀. I was a really really heavy bleeder. In a few years it got so bad to the point my iron was dangerously low so now I'm on birth control and I'm still recovering.
Edit: these comments make me so sad but so comforted that we all can relate to each other. Every single one of you is so strong and so beautiful and I wish you all the best. 💖🙏

don't be anxious about it! Ialso could not wait to have my period back then because all my friends had them, I got them at 13 and I realised quickly that I had no reason to be anxious about it !! enjoy your time without them and remember that everyone is built different so it's okay if you don't have them rn :)
