Hey, I just came across this---thanks, nice work! I always wondered what those bridge chords were. Ab to Eb? Awesome, thanks! And nice drum stick twirling there too, lol...
Wow thank you so much!! Yeah that bridge is friggin beautiful! And LOL yeah I needed to do something with my nervous energy while waiting for the drums to kick back in... Thanks again!
Hey there!!! Thanks so much for the kind compliment! So, this was a kit that I bought off a guy 15 years ago. He took a pdp (Pacific Drums and Percussion) set (they’re the inexpensive brand from DW Drums) and stripped all the wraps off and refinished them in a satin stain and I also got some really cheap Sabin cymbals, then I purchased a pretty decent Pearl Forum Series snare and put Evans coated heads on everything. For micing, I just used one super cheap room (overhead) mic I got off of Amazon and then I EQ’d the hell out of it all in Ableton. Actually, I made a couple videos with this exact setup, with the room mic sitting right next to the tom, thinking that’s how I would capture the fullest sound through a single source, but the next time I do drums on a video, I’m going to move the mic farther away to see if that might be better. Obviously they’re called overheads for a reason, but back then I didn’t find the exact right location that I liked from overhead, but have since watched a few YT videos and will try again some time with the proper distance and angling, etc. Thanks again!!!
Hey there! for the two-part picking at the beginning, I was just doing 3rd fret on high E, 1st fret on B, and open G for the first part, then switched to 3rd fret on B and open G, then repeat. I hope that's helpful. Thanks for watching!!
