If Price wouldn't have spent so much time in Cleveland an would have played in one of the bigger markets, he'd have gotten a Chip with someone. He was just as good an clutch as Reggie Miller! Cleveland just never had squads strong enough to get past the 1st round of the playoffs. It also didn't help that they always found themselves matched up against MJ an the Bulls in the 1st round either....
That's not entirely accurate. In 1992 and 1993 Mark Price was on the Cavaliers and they made it to the Eastern Conference Finals in 1992 and the Conference semi-finals in 1993. You're correct that they often ran into the Jordan led Bulls and wound up losing both of those series, but they were some great series and the Cavs would usually give the Bulls a run for their money. Growing up in Chicago and being a Bulls fan I recall a lot of those games and the battles that were waged. I have a lot of respect for the 80's-90's Cavs and I think they were good enough to win a championship, if not for MJ and the Bulls, but they stopped a lot of great teams from becoming champions. After the Bulls beat the Pistons in 1991 the Bad Boys were done and the Knicks picked up that bruising style of play, a natural evolution really. I believe that the battles waged by the Bulls and Pistons made Chicago into the dynasty we all know now. The Bulls had to get over that hump and once they did they never looked back. I don't think they would have been as dominant if they had not gone through those wars. As for Coach Wilkins, I think that he was a great coach but couldn't get it done when it mattered most. It would have been great to see him win a ring as a coach with Cleveland or Atlanta but it just wasn't meant to be. The only time I was worried about Indiana was in 1998 when they took us to 7 games, but otherwise I never believed they could win it all. I used to get a lot of steals in highschool. You feel for the gather and on the pump down, lunge, grab the ball by sticking your hand right under the ball-handler's. Iverson just grabbed it on the pump down. Amazing.
