Thank you for this video. I have a Sihuadon D-808 with the original circut board in it. I really like it's performance. But you say the new version has better reception on SW. Also I have heard about people saying because they removed the front end SW filters you get some FM breakthrough on the SW band on the new version. After hearing that I wasn't going to buy a new one if something happened to my current radio. But you said it still has the SW front end filters, and the new version seems to preform slightly better than the original version. After watching this video I woukd not hesitate to buy a new one if something happens to my current radio
Welcome 😀👍🏻 i stay just 800 meters away from a FM Broadcasting tower which is 300 KW & i didn't notice any bleeding on my newer version of XHDATA D808 but while using my RTL SDR its totally a different story , I can hear FM bleed all over the band .
So you are saying its better than RTL SDR, wow ; that’s great
@@vimaloberoi211 RTL SDR is an entry level SDR , i would prefer SDRPLAY'S RSP1A rather than RTL SDR .

There is tecsun pl660 and tecsun pl330. I think the xhdata d-808 will perform well in field conditions, just like the tecsun pl660. Thank you very much for your review. definitely a like from me. Nice review I have the older version like à year ago and the battery start to get low very Quick, there are any problem if we use a more mh battery ? Like 9900 mh ?

Thank you ! There shouldn't be any problem using high capacity battery, but it will take way too long to charge as it's charging rate is too slow ( 350mA at 5V ) . Even I'm using high capacity LG/SONY battery & it's working just fine

Welcome, yes u can use it while charging or u can directly power up this radio using USB.

Dear Vishal, thanks for the great review! Is there a hiss in the headphone audio in the newer model at zero volume? I have the 2022 model and it has significant hiss at zero volume.

Да, китайцы как обычно всё испортили в погоне за прибылью. Если им хотелось удешевить это радио, они могли сделать это с меньшим ущербом для производительности. Нужно было заменить узкополосные перестраиваемые контура набором коммутируемых фнч, предотвращающими прием на гармониках гетеродина. Это было бы проще и не требовало бы кропотливой заводской настройки. При этом работало бы почти как вариант с полосовыми фильтрами (особенно если учесть низкое качество этих фильтров в первом варианте D808).

Hi just a doubt..are the sets sold in Amazon are counterfeit products?? I recently purchased a R108 for BC dxing and it was totally dumb. There was AM bleed over all over shortwave from a strong local station from Chennai.
Are you using any LNA ? If yes, don't use it another reason could be R 108 doesn't have stronger front-end filters 🤔 even i stay just 600 mts away from a 300KW radio station & I didn't notice any AM/FM bleed on my XHDATA D808, can you share me the picture of your R 108 ?

Thanks ! Both are great radios , but in XHDATA D808 you will get Airband, FM RDS, Thermometer (which shows room temp.) So my choice would be XHDATA D808 .

I have d-219 . Budget radio . I have a folded dipole made from aluminium rod . But I don't know how to use it with d219. Any ideas
Use a long wire and alligator clip to connect with your antenna.
@lasanguinaire4331 I just bought fm signal booster and a yagi antenna .. kinda works better than built in telescopic antenna . Used only one terminal connected using wire
@@sar4874 For Xhdata D 219 I believe a long wire antenna is sufficient. I use long wire for my xhdata D 328 and it works amazing. But if you are getting results from Yagi that is wonderful because usually cheaper radios get overloaded.
On the newer version, the SSB mode is said to be weaker and less sensitive compared to older version, also the shift to SSB mode from Normal takes more time than in the older one. Can you confirm the same. thanks.
Lower switching speed from normal mode to SSB doesn't mean it's weaker in signal reception. I can hear a lot of SSB signals which are thousands of KM away on this newer version.
@@MrVishalarwade no, these were 2 separate observations by the reviewer. Anyway another reviewer from USA said he didn't see any difference in SSB reception and sensitivity.
For me when I switch to SSB, I thought I got some stations, but I realised they were just the same stations in normal shortwave stations visible in SSB (both usb and lsb) but with lower audio quality, (even after adjusting via +/- fine tuning).
Is that a normal thing?
Let me clear your doubts:
1) Yes, it takes bit longer ( might be few million seconds) to switch between normal mode to SSB mode but it doesn't affect it's reception in any way.
2) While you are listening to Showtwave stations in normal mode & if you switch to SSB of course you are going to hear that same station in SSB .

I’ve seen some websites have the micro usb ones for sale. Would they be old stock or new version with old usb charging function?
USB C ones are also for sale, but I’m assuming they are these newer ones.
Radio with micro USB is old stock, newer radio have USB C port .

it might be a defective piece. i ordered my xhdata and it was performing bad on ssb. i got it replaced. replacement is much much better.
also, medium wave has 9k/10k step. please check if you are tuning on 9k step which is for India
