Construction of an underpass under the Wenceslas Square (1967)

Construction of an underpass under the Wenceslas Square intersection with Vodičkova and Jindřišská streets in the summer of 1967. A temporary bridge for trams has been built above the construction site. The underpass was open for the public on December 2, 1968. Ten years later, it was connected to the exit of the newly built Můstek A metro station and since then serves as its vestibule. The report appeared in Czechoslovak newsreel no. 30/1967.

Jo to byla akce...maminka mi o tom vyprávěla, jak vždycky z tramvaje z výšky toho mostu koukali dolů na ten cvrkot dělníků. I po dokončení na podzim 1968 prý jak se vždycky o víkendu děti z venkova vozily po eskalátorech nahoru a dolů 😁
