- Due to bad weather in Dallas this Qantas Airbus A380 diverted to Phoenix.
As soon i heard it was diverting here I jumped up and got ready lol.
I also got lucky that this A380 is in the new livery.
This is actually is the second time a Qantas A380 has diverted to PHX.

I was on that plane haha! We were a group travelling from Australia and after being diverted to Phoenix adding on an extra hour which made he flight around 17 hours... once we got to Dallas our flights were cancelled and we were stranded at the airport fri 3 days...

Its not worth it because A380 are out of production so the 777 300ER is big enough for most other airlines, besides we get British air, United airlines, and American Airline that flew there 777 300 here at Sky harbor. UPS and Atlas Air fly there 747 cargo.

They would need to upgrade airport terminal, it's not worth it because A380 are out of production.

Nice! I got a nice slowmo of it coming in. I was less than 150 ft under it, right at the runway.
I missed it b/c I was doing something out of town. I wanted to catch it and I'm slightly sad now. Glad you caught it!

Brody Swiatek PHX sky harbor doesn’t have a gate capable for an A380 but the runway is plenty long to support such a plane.

Now that we know that A380s can land and takeoff at Phoenix why not just allow them here
It can land here,but it really doesn't fit on our taxiways nor our wide body gates.
There would be a lot of changes PHX Skyharbor would have to do for it to come the Phoenix regularly.
They would have to widen the taxiways
And have special widebody gates to acomadate the A380.
Also there has do be enough demand for an airline to send a A380 to and airport.
Its just were big enough for it to land likewise if there is an emergency.
