Great question! Absolutely there is a lot of momentum and tension that goes into each rep but that doesn’t mean we are not also able to isolate the stress on the abs. A lot of people are not a to get that part right but it is a similar concept to strict vs kipping pull-ups or strict shoulder press vs push press. Basically strict vs momentum based movements. I think with a balance of both you are able to get the most out of your training. It is CRUCIAL to work the strict movements but working momentum based movements allow you to get more volume in and get it in less time. Think of the kipping toes to bar or pull-ups like a drop set in bench press, lighter faster sets etc. No matter what the strict movement should be done and should be done first but once people get a good foundation of core strength and coordination it is a great training tool to work things like kipping toes to bar etc. Hope this makes sense and LOVE the question! On it!
Genuine question: doesn’t this form of toes to bar use a lot of momentum with each rep, and not put as much isolated and controlled stress on the abs?
