Great information!! Having visited recently, we can say that one of the pros are the people. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. We’re looking forward to finding our home and relocating. Thanks Lindsey!!
I moved to SC in 2018 from South Texas and I can safely say that the weather in SC is much better than the oppressive and long-lasting blast furnace of Texas. The one con would be that Texas has no state income tax where SC does, although if you are retired you are fairly safe.
We definitely have high humidity here compared to the upstate where it is a little cooler near the mountains. High humidity on the coast too much the coastal breeze helps when there is one. 😎 - Lindsey
Great information. I am considering South Carolina as a new place to relocate from Northern VA. I'm currently a single professional who is about to retire from my current job, but I wish to remain active and employed at least part time. I did visit the lowcountry areas like Bluffton, HHI and Beaufort. They are charming, but I think I need to visit other areas such as Greenville and points outside of Charleston. If you have any suggestions for me I would be really appreciative.
I'm starting to look into moving to SC near my grandma, I live up in South Dakota, and I cant stand the winters here, it gets down to -40s in the winter.. and I hate the cold -and- I have Fibromyalgia, so it's a harsh winter for me.. Not only do i wanna see my Grandma again but I'm ready to ditch the harshness of the cold and be in the warmer state. And a few other reasons.
Is there a list or a website that you can share about the cost of living down there? Currently in the New England states and would love to compare and contrast the two because my husband and I plan on moving 🙂
I was surprised to hear you say that the cost of living isn’t that cheap. I thought I remembered you touting the low cost of living in SC as being one of its main advantages? And since you asked...we are comparing SC to Northwest Arkansas. Would love to hear any opinions you might have comparing those two states. Really enjoying your videos.
Right now we are starting to plan on where we were going to retire. We actually had planned on retiring here in West Virginia we’re we live now. Although my husband is a Florida man that’s where he grew up. I do not like Florida for many reasons, but I think South Carolina gives us the best of both worlds, I would like to know where we could move that it’s close to the beach but not in the high cost of living zone. We are looking to keep our house payment lower will have money to put down Lord willing we wanna look in the 200s if that’s possible in five years or sooner. anyway, if you have any suggestions about housing that is lower but still near the beach. I’m all ears. We are not looking for 55+ communities. I’m raising my granddaughter so we will need family oriented home location. Thank you for all your information. It’s been very helpful.
@@livinginsouthcarolina especially when coming from a state where we have highest road tax, gas tax, the highest sales tax in the country, and the highest income tax in the country. I mean California is worse than Hawaii these days as far as affordability goes. Even their gas is cheaper by a dollar per gallon. Let that sink in
Thank you for a great informative video. I am looking to retire in the Lexington county of South Carolina. I am moving from NH to SC. what can you tell me me of the Lexington/Columbia area of SC?
Plan on retiring there from Massachusetts. Will my Social Security check change when moving to SC? How do energy costs compare to the North? Why/how is Health Care costs more in SC?
Coming from Phoenix, Arizona: I like mid-sized cities and large towns for shopping. Obviously don't 'do' snow and am not into 'the beach' save for the rare visit. What areas would be more likely to visit for a few months? Also, what are the gun laws there? Is it more pro-2A or like New York City?
Could you make a video about schools in Upstate? Many parents are wondering about that as bad schools could be a dealbreaker. Also, would be helpful to know ALL the taxes SC resident has to pay, I recently found out you have to pay property tax on a CAR! What?! Never heard of that, haha
We are definitely looking at comparing other states to SC in the near future so stay tuned! Any particular questions you have or what you’d like to see compared?

What part of SC? I had someone from SC near Aiken say that the humidity was pretty much as bad as Florida

Texas has high property taxes to make up for the lack of income tax. There's no free ride.

Thank you for the info we moved here a year and half ago from Michigan, and we still have a lot to learn
Awesome! Thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the state or the area you moved to.

Moving here from california. The low taxes is a huge benefit.
So exciting you’re making the move!! Lower taxes makes it so much better 😎

Considering either SC or GA. will be snowbirding it for a few years until retirement. Need a place for my horse to stay also.
Aiken is very close to the GA border and great for horses! Let me know if I can help in any way. I’m an equestrian too ☺️

Hey Mike! I grew up in that area, and it is absolutely growing/thriving.
If you’re thinking about making that move, we would love to assist you!

why are you asking a youtuber about your social security check???
Does South Carolina have casinos or a lottery?
Thanks Lindsey. I'm interested in 55 and up communities. Where can I look to get an overview of what's out there in SC?
Last I checked, it was very much illegal to discriminate housing based on age.
Did something change?

Currently looking at S.C. and Georgia, we hope to leave Ohio ASAP.
Awesome! Have you started looking yet or made any plans? My team would love to help if needed.

SC has too many people from Ohio. Please don't leave. LOL
Hurricane season is from 1 June to 30 November.
Great info!

Just a thought...maybe the Healthcare cost is so high because of the unhealthy fried food that you mentioned 🤔 😉
The best thing about SC is you have to show ID proof that you are a citizen of South Carolina before you can vote !!!!!!!!!!!!
Cockroaches. Tons of cockroaches.
