- So we all know about the teacher who had female students unbraid his hair. The mother of one of the girls has spoken. She is mad her cheeks are not getting clapped up.

If I had a daughter that age, I would tell her NOT TO TOUCH HIM OR HIS HAIR. Its not appropriate. These are not your friends. Get some friends your own age. He got DL vibes as well.

Unfortunately, this is precisely the type of dynamic that U.S. schools of education encourage by telling the teachers to "come down to the students level", let the students "know you are real", be a "guide on the side" and not a "sage on the stage",etc.
Historically in most societies, a teacher was a respected position. And that entailed a certain amount of decorum in how teachers and students interacted. But now, a large contingent within ed schools want the teacher to be the "best friend", instead of the authority with wisdom, experience, and technical knowledge.
What the teacher did was not inherently wrong but as a male teacher he should reconize the dangers female students are. Some will actually develop inappropriate attraction to their teachers and try to get way to close.

As a former barber and basketball coach I used to have single mothers hit on me all the time. They didn't care I was married at the time. It was crazy.

Same goes for gym trainers at a public gym. Many clients who happen to be single mothers or older women constantly hit on one of my friends who was a gym trainer, and he's happily married with 3 kids.

One of my son's girlfriends had a mother like that. Her mother told her daughter, "I laid eyes on him first." Her mother finally broke them up. I hoped that girl would be my daughter-in-law, but her mother wasn't having that.

There needs to be BOUNDARIES between a teacher and a student-between adults and children. Calling these kids “best friends” and letting them in his personal space is a recipe for disaster. He may be well intentioned but there are way too many stories of teachers grooming and SAing their students for this be considered appropriate

Better safe than sorry, I’m glad the teacher spoken on the issue, but let’s not let it happen again. As a black male teacher, he is a rare and precious commodity. I’m sure other black male and female teachers have taken him to the side for a private conversation with plenty of examples of derailed careers in education.

Mothers and grandmothers are younger now than they use to be. I think that factors into it. Seeing your child as competition is gross, weird and unacceptable... one of my kid's fathers told me it was inappropriate for me to cut anyone's hair that wasn't my kids or a family member. I'm focusing on the aspect of getting paid while his focus is on something else. Didn't learn how to cut hair, or do braids, to waste my talent. Nothing inappropriate ever went on while I did a non family members hair bc my mind doesn't think like that....
