Note that the blacklight doesn't pick up germs , so if the substances aren't Fluorescence doesnt mean they are clean. Also make sure you are not overly exposed to UV light
There are 3 forms of UV light. A, B, and C. These flashlights aren't going to be a significant cause for concern. Type C is the "bad" one.

eh the spectrum used is closer to the 400nm range, it is commonly used in black lights (especially cheaper ones) - and is much less dangerous than UV-C light or even 365nm light. 365 would have much less 'purple' to it, but also could be harmful, just like IR light - never look directly into it.

I bring Lysol wipes and spray when we travel. I can’t help myself there’s some nasty germs out there. My husband used to think I was crazy but now he appreciates it.
we are now in the crown virus : it is a great idea to use anti-bacterial wipes in any and all hotel rooms, on doors,handles,phones....and hand sanitizer...

UV light maybe should be used by management weekly* to adress the hidden bacteria and stains...from 101 guests that you simply can not see day to day...
AGREED...if there's ever a hotel stay for me and the wife, the Clorox wipes go WITH us and ANYTHING in that room I think there's even a chance we'll touch gets wiped! AND even with that, the remote goes in a larger plastic baggie. The signal has NO problem going through that plastic so it works like a charm!

To be fair, sweat or persperation glows....while I was remodeling our house I was also putting my son down for his daily nap after mom fed him lunch. I would sit with him in a rocking chair and rock him to sleep after about 2 years of using that rocking chair I exposed it to UV light and the arm rests looked like they got spray painted with glow paint. It was abundantly clear it was my sweat from sitting there after working in the hot southern california sun. Sweat glows!!!

Be careful, it you start thinking about this all the time and living like that, things are gonna get hard. You can make yourself crazy like Howard Hughes. If it really gets to you, bring some disinfectant wipes and hit the areas you’re concerned about and let it go. Our bodies are amazing things but all of us are “dirty” and completely capable of being safe and healthy even in some pretty bad environments.

So in your eyes did Wingate did an okay job? So when looking at walls with a blue light it is important to understand that if the paint is not uniform the primer will often show through as spots or strikes. The one section where you ask do you think the bed use to be there is a little concerning but I also wonder if the coffee maker may have been there and something spilled. You should have been in my hotel in out side of the Tinker AF base in OK. I had dried blood on my sheets, dirt ring in the tub, ants and bed bugs and the rug was so gross i didn't even want to walk on it. Yes I let the hotel manager know, they sent up a cleaning crew to re-clean the room. I was still unhappy and asked to be place in another room.
That uv light is perfect for checking money to see if it's real if you hold the light under the money

Getting the feeling that you purchased that UV light and straight went to a hotel instead of testing it in your home. Otherwise you'd know that it's really clean in the hotel room!
I am SO getting a UV light for travel. I stayed in a few no tell motels and I thank God that I didn't know what I was sleeping on. Here's the point where I turn into my mother and keep a GINORMOUS can of Lysol in my purse (yes, she actually did this) . I thought it was so embarrassing when I was a kid, but after seeing this.....! Eeewwww! Be careful, and get some Lysol. God bless! FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE!

Haven't you watched Hotel Hell, or any of the CSI shows? To see bodily fluids, you need to be wearing yellow glasses. Without them, all your seeing is brighter white than the normal white, which could be cleaning fluids, or dust.
UV lighting will also show up detergent and soaps some of the stuff in the bathroom could have been changed and saliva necessarily have to be semen
Going to get myself a black torch, useful for when cleaning at home - can see where I missed.

Under the UV light what that might be also is remnants of blood because it appears to be white and color, and if it was any other kind of shall we say excrement it would appear as a purplish color

I’m not trying to throw shade on this video, but I guarantee that room was more dirty than what you saw. I had a UV light that was intended to illuminate a glow in the dark ball. It was quite impressive how much it would fluoresce on certain items.
HOWEVER, ultraviolet light is a spectrum, and there is two common types of UV flashlights that put out to different wavelengths. There’s the average one that you’re using and I also had and then there are short wave UV lights.
Short wave, UV lights literally can cause blindness if you look directly at them, and they give off almost no visible light when you use them. However, when you use them like in the contacts of this video, they illuminate 3 to 4 times more grime than water, traditional UV light shows!!
You can find fingerprints from just the oils in your skin effortlessly! It’s really amazing and disgusting 🤣

I'm always scared of the in room coffee maker, or Keurig in there. They always seem dirty to me in my mind, especially the ones in the bathrooms. The bacteria in those coffee makers makes me cringe.

At least the bed was ok but those walls yuck I wonder how long those stains have been there for? You can't really blame the housekeeping ppl if they can't see it they can't clean it up, but I think if they had one of those blue light torches it would be be better and the walls would be cleaner. I remember watching something about hotel rooms and a forensic guy used a blue light and the room that they were in was so gross. The bathroom was awful covered in stains and the bed was the grossest stains all over it even blood the sheets weren't even clean and this was a 4/5 star hotel. The cleanest one they found was a 2 star hotel there were not stains anywhere in the room and the mattress had a plastic cover on it so it was easy to clean, the plastic cover should be on all beds to help keep them clean.... I had 3 boys, so I’ve definitely used one of these in the bathroom before! I never wanted to find out why but drip droplets all the way up walls. I made their dad discuss gravity and how preferable it is to use it toilet side!! You may be staying at a crime scene...naw. Jk. It’s actually pretty dang clean.

Just bought a uv light and what I found out in my bathroom was it looks scary with all the splashes. I know that it is cleaned every week. It is the remnant of the cleaning detergent used. I think that is what you see in the bathroom. Traces of cleaning detergent that has not be properly washed. Now I know, what to tell my cleaners.
Some of that on the hoodie may be dryer sheet stuffs
(4:21) I never, ever, go barefoot at any hotel; I don't care if it is an expensive hotel. That UV light shows George is stepping in nasty stuff. Just saying.
People think I'm crazy, but this is why I reclean the toilets, tubs, doorknobs, light switches, counters, etc. anywhere that I stay. I don't trust "housekeeping" to clean thoroughly. They usually don't.
Just ordered my Olight. In Canada $140 for the bundle. I love bright flashlights. This will be my brightest. Merci
PS. I always travel with cleaning wipes. I don't even bother to check with my blacklight, just wipe the whole place down and throw the bedspread on the floor.

As a former hotel worker, I can say with confidence that the walls never get cleaned. While working at two hotels in the same chain, I never once cleaned (or witnessed the cleaning of):
A pillow, a mattress protector, a mattress, a quilt, the spare blanket/pillows, any non bathroom/kitchen surfaces (only dusted), a luggage holder, a window seat or any walls anywhere. Also the cups in the room never saw the kitchen, we cleaned them with the same stuff we cleaned the toilets with, but that's not the worst of it (it was just bleach and disinfectant, it worked great). The worst of it was the part where all the cleaning rags were the same colour and lived in the same caddy. Shit was nasty.
For as old as this Motel is this is spotless....

Don’t forget to check the box spring for bed bugs.
We always bring Lysol spray and spray under the covers all the way down to the foot of the bed. We spray pillows, phone and especially the remote. We spray all the handles, the entire bathroom and we always wear socks or flip flops in all rooms.

I click on the video while eating left over and my OCD cleaning hit aneixty. People complain why im OCD cleaning. The walls, light switch etc will be clean. I put my towel on the pillow case. I domt walk bare footed, I have my own wipes to reclean surfaces.?
It's honestly expected on the toilet, you can't really blame people for doing something like that on the toilet, but anywhere else in a hotel is gross. I'd say anywhere else even in personal home is gross but as long as you wash it and get rid of it permanently so that a black light won't see it then it's fine.

From my own personal investigations of toilets, this one is actually quite clean. Try one where the drippage is like 50x that's what I saw in a public bathroom.

All in all that that is a clean hotel room. The cleaning crew does an amazing job. I’d use them. I’ve seen shows with bad cleaning crews and those are really nasty.

Only use the plastic cups that are sealed to drink out of. Or better yet buy your own drinks. I've seen where housekeeping will use the same rag to clean the toilet and then the glasses along with very thing else.
