Nice work. Ive been following your build . Ive got a '69 820 3cyl that ive been contemplating doing something similar to get a little extra bump in hp. Any idea how much hp increase you expect to get?
Hi, nice. looks they are the same engine without one cylinder. Honestly I'm not sure, I would assume easy 20% extra. I never drove this tractor prior. I will leave the pump untouched, check the boost level and see how it goes. If all goes well I may screw the pump up somewhat.
Thank Mate, The parts came from our local aftermarket tractor parts store. The piston/liner kit was Reliance brand, Which I assumed was from The US. It is a good looking bit of kit. You will have to check which version you have as they changed from the O-rings on the liner to O-rings in the block, Can work it out with the serial number but I pulled mine apart first just to be sure, your is later model to mine so guessing they could be in block.
I am in the process of doing the exact same thing to a very similar engine using JD parts installing a Turbo on a 219 using 276 parts on an irrigation pump.
Great video! what turbo did you use in this video? cant help but wonder should you really route the oil drain in the valve cover? im still figuring things out and ordering a turbo soon. Also what turbo size would you recommend to a 3.9L D239
Hi, Thank you. I used a garrett gt2052. It was actually off a Perkins 4 litre engine, so my 3.3 is still a good match, boosts up nice and early, I haven't touched the pump yet but the wastegate does open around 10-11 psi nearly full rpms. got plenty of power. the oil drain is fine not much comes out of the turbo drain as they don't normally like much flow. it's a small hole going into the turbo. I would say something this size or similar say a gt22 would be ok unless you are screwing the pump up a lot more. back in the 80's most tractors that had turbos were large none wastage which came on boost fairly late and the only thing controlling boost was the fuel setting. let me know how you go? cheers
Hi. That'd be great, A smaller version of mine. I just used Buttweld fittings. Tees and 90 degrees. they are about 3-4mm thick, I cant remember what size, 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 what ever was close to the internal diameter to suit the exhaust port. you can get stainless ones to which I wish I used as they were similar price and wouldn't go rusty like mine is now. The flanges were cut from 12mm plate. cheers
Cześć Czy montując turbo, robiłeś też inne modyfikacje w silniku, czy wszystko wytrzymuje dodatkowe doładowanie? Jak Ci się teraz sprawuje ren traktor?
Hi. nope, just bolted it on, all diesels can take some boost, I haven't adjusted the fuel pump yet, probably wont, it goes good enough. Tractor is going well. Thanks. 👍
I have a 2355 with a sun shade roof 3.9l late 80’s model made in West Berlin that’s what the tag says on the engine and frame Edit: oh I’m from usa by the way 👋🏻
Looks like it's really coming along, envious of your skill and workmanship.
Thank you, 😀
Hello from France, nice job! When shall we listen to your turbo sound ??😊
Thank you, hopefully get to start it in a couple of weeks, stay tuned.🤟
G'day mate good job. I've got a 400 backhoe which is based on the 2020.
Thanks. Ahh nice, don't see many JD 400's around.

Great fabrication work. I have a 1972 2020 that has no compression also. I need an inline also. Where did you get your engine kit? I am in the USA.

Hi from VA! Very nice job sir. Im working on doing the same to my 1020 deere. What did you use for the exhaust manifold? (material, thickness)...

Hi, oh yeah nice. that'd be a good tractor.
It's odd isn't it. where mine says made in Germany on chassis and France on engine!
Que tipo de material es el multiple
Hi there. The manifold is just mild steel bends, about 3-4mm wall. Butt-weld pipe fittings, I would probably use stainless next time. 👍
