  • Welcome back to another bead weaving basic...Twisted tubular Herringbone....a wonderful way to create a beaded rope for either a necklace or a bracelet! Fun to make and they bead up pretty quick too especially if you're using 8/0's!
    I've promised to include a materials list...or as I like to refer to them ...an "ingredient" list ...for all projects from now on:
    Toho 8/0 - Semi Matte Navy
    Toho 8/0 - Semi Matte Lemongrass
    Miyuki 8/0 - Ivory Ceylon
    Of course you'll need a needle (Size 10) and thread (FireLine / WildFire) and a clasp of your choice too! I used approximately a fifth of a 22g tube of each colour.
    Flat Herringbone:
    • Flat Herringbone Stitch
    Tubular Herringbone Stitch:
    • Tubular Herringbone St...
    I would so love to see your makes if you give this one a go and you can post your pictures to my facebook page using the following link:

    Loved this tutorial so much. Very well done and understandable. Excellent! On my second one, I threaded 1.5mm leather through the center to make a button and loop closure. I love the combo of beads and leather. It also gave the bracelet more body.

    Hello , Today I came across this video and watched how this stitch project was done. I’ve been shying away from doing anything tubular until I watched your awesome teaching. I took on the the tutorial and loved it. This helps my beading confidence which I greatly appreciate. Thank you for all your tutorials

    • @JoBarclayLoggie
      @JoBarclayLoggie  4 года назад

      Thank you Nan Stanton - that' some of the best feedback to read!! Many people shy away from seed bead projects - myself included in the beginning - because they sometimes look a little too complicated! BUT when you know where to start - the stitches themselves are really repetitive - and suddenly making something that looks quite difficult, becomes fairly easy!
      Keep beading and keep well...x

    • @JoBarclayLoggie
      @JoBarclayLoggie  2 года назад

      Hi Mika... It's possible that your tension is a little too loose resulting in the rope not holding its shape and flattening....x

  • @pinkstatus1
    @pinkstatus1 2 года назад +1

    Can this technique be used w different size beads, or do all the bead have to be the same size?

    • @JoBarclayLoggie
      @JoBarclayLoggie  2 года назад +1

      You'll get a neater finish using all the same sized beads but adding in a different size will add texture to your design. Give it a go - bead up a small section and see if it works for you...x

    Hi how many beads are used for each color?

    • @JoBarclayLoggie
      @JoBarclayLoggie  4 года назад

      Hi Kalene...I don't know the exact number and of course it would depend on the length of your bracelet....but I used about a quarter of a tube of each....around 5-6 grams of beads...x

    • @kalenecazaubon-sample1654
      @kalenecazaubon-sample1654 4 года назад

      Jo Barclay Loggie hi I’m trying to make 7 1/2 bracelet in this stitch and I wanted to know how much beads for each color to use?

    • @JoBarclayLoggie
      @JoBarclayLoggie  4 года назад

      As I mentioned above - I couldn't possibly sit and count the number of beads I used but if you fo by the gram weight I gave you - that's what I sued to make a 7 inch bracelet....so you'll need to increase this a little to make 7.5 inches. So, in other words, if you have a third of each tube available, you should be able to make it...x

    I thought there was no "step up" w/ twisted tubular Herringbone...I'm confused.

    • @JoBarclayLoggie
      @JoBarclayLoggie  3 года назад +1

      Hi Julie....sorry you're confused - that's never my intention! The pattern for twisted tubular herringbone is "Down 2 Up through 1". If you did the at the end of the row - you wouldn't be exiting the correct bead at the top of your beaded rope in order to continue. You'd be exiting 1 bead below where you should be - so your final step in a round is not "down 2 , up 1" but "down 2, up 2" in order to be in the right place to start your next round....therefore it is known as a "stepping up" (The coming up through 2 beads to get to the outermost edge of your beadwork). Not sure that I've made things any clearer for you - this is when I miss face to face workshops where it's so much easier to talk through something whilst showing it. Hope I've made a bit of sense...x

      Every now and then someone says the sound is too low and every time I check it, I think it's too loud!! lol!! Sorry you're having issues with the sound during the demos, but I don't think there's anything else I can do and as it's a comment that's not often made, I'm not sure that the problem is my end? I have bought a new microphone - so fingers crossed that'll sort things for the few that have had issues...x
