    BTC came to train at our school for two weeks leading up to Tokyo in preparation for the heat and humidity. Gabriela was super nice and left a pair of spikes to give to one of our runners. Been a fan ever since. Hope to see her continued success outside of BTC too.

      Yep she’s great. Her and rowan have always been lovely to us and always responded to any questions we had.

    BTC does alot of threshold but in singles. I believe this can be more effective hence the huge improvements we see in BTC, but also has a higher injury rate hence the high BTC injury rate

    • @Trackstaa_
      @Trackstaa_  2 года назад +1

      possibly more effective. however I think this also depends on total threshold volume

      I think it has a lot to do with an individual's natural propensities. A 1500-5K runner would probably tolerate two 4-6ml sessions in a day better than one 8-12ml threshold bout from a mechanical/metabolic perspective, whereas a 10K-Marathon runner might prefer the opposite.

      @@peytonhoyal8002 yep or if you’re Jakob you do 2 7.5 mile ones a day

      @@Trackstaa_ Years of practice on his part... I would hate to know that I had reached a point where I needed 24K @ Threshold administered twice per week to achieve a new stimulus. Top of the mountain.

      I have seen good results for the competitive recreational runners that I coach using a moderated version of the typical Norwegian program that allows for more recovery and less genetic prowess; open the microcycle to 10-14 days and include one 'big' threshold session of 10K-15K worth of work (32-48min), a sustained 'sub-threshold' run for the endurance component (15-25K @ ~Marathon Effort or a little slower), and then the 'X' factor session they discuss tailored to the individual (speed/Hills, a Canova-esque circuit, some race pace training, a free-form fartlek, etc) to finish the block. It typically would look like Sun- Long Steady Run, Wed-Big Threshold Session, Sat- Long Extensive Tempo, Tues- X Factor, Wednesday-Saturday just regenerative running for supercomoensation before starting a new cycle.

    The overlap of BTC & Ingebrigtsen training and Kenyan origins was interesting! Entertaining to hear how the "your move" stuff turned into great motivation. Helps to keep running in perspective with other sports, and so it's funny when you take a step back from the running world and realize that trash talk drama was nothing compared to what gets said in say an average NBA or NFL game (or practice for that matter). Love the content as always Tracksta and one question I have is how to increase threshold training while maintaining milage without burn out? I know you are really good at a hefty amount of threshold but wondering if it took you time to progress into it.

      Thanks I appreciate your comments. In terms of threshold because it’s not as intense you can probably do a little more than you’re used to without any issues. I started at around 8k worth of volume but now do 10-18k depending on the sessions

    Their training schedule was off by about 60 km per week, it is well known that Ingebrigtsen trains 185 to 190 km per week.
