Sorry dude I couldn't disagree more with you about the Amiga games. I understand that you never owned the system back in the day,it was almost unknown in the US but you say that you prefer the 16 bit versions. The Amiga is a 16 bit system! Also turrican2 is the pinnacle of the series with perfect controls, massive levels, fantastic graphics and, most importantly,THE BEST VIDEOGAME SOUNDTRACK OF ALL TIME.
I am aware that the Amiga was a 16-bit computer. I just have no nostalgia for it and when I referred to the 16-bit versions, I meant the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) and SNES. Have you ever compared Turrican 2 to Super Turrican 2? Are they two sides of the same coin or completely different? As you can see in the video, I can't get very far in the SNES game.
AMIGA were were so popular in Europe by 1990 that even IBM looked at it a threat. AMIGA is still alive in 2022 with companies also making new games and hardware. It's a niche market now, but still alive. AMIGA were not much of a thing in USA i think, even when AMIGA is American.
@@V3ntilator My understanding is that because video games had largely gone away in the west, most people migrated to computers. in the US we had Commodore 64s --> Apple --> PC (clones), but Europe has a whole host of computers, including the Amiga.
I didn’t feel like you gave enough of an explanation of the differences. Just showing their games listed in charts on the same page. I am still unsure if I should get the two collections or flashback!
I just...don't get the point of releasing the Turrican Flashback collection and then two volumes of a Turrican anthology after that? It just seems like unnecessary clutter when the Flashback collection could've just had all those games to begin with.
Technically they were HD releases, but they were the originals. Personally, I prefer that type of re-release. I don't like when games are modified for "today's audiences."
@r33mote Actually, for the Amiga versions, which I don't care for, many Americans never would have had the opportunity to play them. I prefer the SNES and Genesis versions. I have them on the Super NT and Mega Sg.
Back in the Amiga days in the 90s I had all the 3 Turrican games. Part 2 was and maybe still is the best game ever created for any 16 bit homecomputer. Great time. Nowadays I have a next gen Amiga: Apollo Vampire and I'm still playing these games all driven by its hardware, no emulation involved. That in combination with the Competition Pro joystick, it still gives me the ultimate nostalgia feeling. For on the go I have the Turrican Flashback on the Nintendo Switch. Actually not known by many the part 3 of the series: Mega Turrican was developed first. And a bit later the Amiga Turrican 3 version was developed based on Mega Turrican, which makes Mega Turrican the original 16 bit - part 3 version - of the series. Hence the reason why the flashback collection only have the original and essential 16 bits games and misses the Amiga Turrican 3. I liked the way you reviewed the two collections in your video. For me Flashback is just enough.
Thank you for kind words. I was unaware that Mega Turrican was first. I think I even said that it was a port of 3. It's cool that you have the affiliation with the Amiga. We used Apples in my formative years and then went to clone PCs. Turrican was a port at best in my world, but I never played it. In fact, I never played Turrican until years later.
The length. There is an extra level (or so) in the director's cut. Basically, the level(s) that were not included in the original retail games. The score attack is the game and attempt to get a high score. I don't care for it, myself.
@@GenerationalGamer Alright thanks. I had to ask because I never played any of the Turrican games before and am considering getting the Anthology collections.
@@ultimatealchemist9401 the best choice for you is the Flashback Collection. You get the best games from the Turrican-Series without junk. I’m like you, I didn’t have and never played an Amiga. I had Turrican on Genesis. That was it. All those other Turricans? Never saw or heard about them. And if I’m understanding this right, that Genesis version isn’t on any of these new releases?
Did you have the Accolade Turrican or Mega Turrican? The Accolade Turrican was not on either collection. Mega Turrican was the licensed game on the Genesis. We got three versions of that one across the two Anthologies.
@@GenerationalGamer You have it all mixed up. First of all, you have to realize that without the AMIGA 500, there would never have been a TURRICAN. I think that your channel in particular should test the AMIGA for the sake of objectivity. Then your videos will become more objective. You might not know it, but many games on the console are remakes from the AMIGA 500.

This gets me so mad, why they released then the flashback? That should not exist, just make anthology 1 and 2, so I will not buy the anthology 1, having the flashback and vol 2, you get all games, I am curious about super turrican directors cut, but just for one extra stage and don’t think is worth buying again that game.
